Question:
Why are "people" so quick at answering basic questions?

To me basic questions about life and our universe are like shooting foul shots. The more practice you have the better you are at them. I have been noticing in recent times many people jump to conclusions right away.

One topic that is common is the Creation vs Science argument.

A basic consideration for the Christian is the mature design view, where if you were to cut down the trees in the garden of eden the first day they were there, you will discover more rings than one day. The earth was fully matured to its greatest glory at the end of those six days.

When you view the years we look at how old the earth is take into consideration the Bible has a mature design view.

Why do people jump to quick conclusions about the Christian creation without bothering to even read the Bible or to even think it could be possible?

Why ?

Sorry, could not resist. They have already formed an opinion.

They like their opinion.

It requires no personal accountability or change on their part.

Most atheists have taken quite a bit of time to learn about religions and about the Bible. I think your assumption is wrong.

As for the mature design view, it's just that it doesn't make sense. If someone looked at the world and realized that their views no longer make sense, that is exactly what they would come up with. If the stars are millions of years away, the world can still be only a few thousand years away because light was on its way when it was created. Such explanations are particularly weird since the natural explanation makes perfect sense and there is no reason to depart from common sense to explain anything.

See....you are missing one basic thing. It isn't a matter of showing that you can bend what you see around enough to still allow a sliver of room. You actually need to produce evidence that something is right. That would include testable predictions made by it.

At least one prediction was that the Earth was flat and the Sun moved around a canopy over it. That one didn't quite work out, and I could do this all day. Like the single female ancestor thing. It isn't compatible with the Mitochondrial DNA studies...unless you make that female 150,000 years ago.

I've read the bible, and a logical approach to the "mature design view" as you call it is the least of the reasons why I don't believe it.

Prior to the Eden story, the serpent was a god. The theological approach to demonizing old religions was to paint them as evil in the new stories. Therefore the serpent of temptation was a means to overwrite an older religion.

That alone is 1 reason I discredit such things. Perhaps a little research outside of your faith would reveal the reasons we challenge such beliefs.

What you are saying makes no sense, unless you are saying that Creation is an allegory.

Look, there are things we do know about the Universe. We know that there is no possible way water and life came to earth in 6 days. Not one. The hypothesis of Genisis is prima facia absurd.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. You have nothing.

Have you considered the fact that the sun was created on day 4. The '24 hour day' is related to 'the sun' (and the Earth rotating). Thus, day 1,2,3, and possiby 4 were not '24 hour' days?

oh well, eh?!

to be honest...its like asking me to have total faith in peter pan...it never happened, its something that was wrote down and millions of people loved it and grew up with it, but millions of others didnt like it, took one look and thought..."yeah, right!"

i went to a normal school, where we were taught every religion and obviously the one we most studied was christianity...i know all of the stories in it and lets face it...creating a universe in 6 days? and he had a little rest on the seventh aww poor god...

sorry that ALWAYS cracked me up

Have you considered that questions about life and the universe aren't so "basic" but are rather very "complex."

Just curious, what are "people"? Why do you not just refer to them as people, sans quotes?

Personally, I've read it (cover-to-cover) numerous times. The more I read it, the more of an unbeliever I became.
