world; even when they don't acknowledge Him. Morality comes from God and even those who reject Him are affected for good just by being in the world. Or is it because God created man with a built-in conscience but our conscience can be decreased by unbelief??

Every humans spirit comes from God and we are 'hard wired' to be in his image. Yes, morality exists in humans apart from any relationship with God. The difference is, with non-believers, the morality is a forced choice, and this is good. With those who allow the Holy Spirit to have dominion in their lives, it is Jesus Christ's morality that is doing it's work, this is better. Thanks for asking, good question.

I believe it to mostly be a rebellion against what has come before and an attempt to redefine. All children believe they know better than their parents and that they are invincible. I have not seen anything beyond anecdote to support your hypothesis; in fact I have seen the opposite. I believe the worst rebellion/behavior exists where belief in nothing does as well. I am not talking about Atheism when I say that, although that nothingness is usually there too, I mean no future, no answers, no point in it(life) at all. If you were not taught any morals at all (or specifically bad ones to begin with) I am pretty sure your behavior will uniformly be worse than being taught a good set of ones for whatever reason they were taught in the first place. If you find some research done with no agenda I would be interested in a look... but I can't imagine someone getting funding for such a thing without at least an implied agenda. Would you believe or disbelieve it either way?

If there are people out there who have more morals than I have, I thank God for them. I have no issues with anyone who has good morals and values. Morality is taught. We get our morals from the environment in which we live and the people we are exposed to.

Most of us (Americans) receive our morals from a Christian background. We are rooted in Christ Jesus. He is the vine and we are the branches. We can remain on the vine or be pruned (removed). The choice is ours (each individual) to make.God doesn't force Himself on anyone.

All people were created with a conscience. An inner knowing; however, we are all guilty of dismissing the things we know in our hearts for various reasons. Most of the time for foolish reasons.

How many times have we all ignored that little voice inside that warned us not to do something and we did it anyway? This inner knowing, just like everything else comes from an awesome God.

Whether or not we acknowledge the greatness and glory of God and our Lord Jesus Christ, really doesn't matter. Because He is...

We cannot see or feel gravity, but it is.

We cannot see air, but it is.

Some of you cannot see God, but He is.

In the last days the Lord is pouring out His Spirit upon all flesh. These are those last days !

Now, when Jesus takes His bride, the church, ( His Body ) then morality will not have God's Spirit on earth to guide people. Because Morality is guided by the Spirit of God.

This is why, while we live in a Grace period of time... it would be wise for people to repent while the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. And in these times It would be wise for people to be born again of the water ( baptized in the water, in Jesus name ) and of the Spirit ( baptized by the Holy Ghost ) .

Please read all of John chapter 3.

and... Acts chapter 2, paying close attention to Acts 2:38

Only after a proper born again experience . will a person conscience be cleansed, and that person is free to start over.

This is why we need to baptize in the name of Jesus Christ. READ Acts 4:12

__Water Baptism is an essential part of the New Testament salvation ! _

_Water baptism can be administered only by immersion

( Col 2 : 12 ) . Note the following : Jesus mentioned being " Born ( to bring forth ) of the water " ( John 3 : 5 ) ; Paul said, " Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death ":... Romans 6:4. Jesus " Came up OUT of the water " ( Mark 1 : 10 ) ; Philip and the Eunuch " Went down INTO the water, " and " came up OUT of the water " ( Acts 8 : 38--39 ) .

Also read>>>>>__Acts 2 : 38___<<<<

Galatians 3 : 27 “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ”__

1 Peter 3 : 21 “The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us ( not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, ) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ”.

The biggest mistake Christians make is believing that morality is only possible through their god. The notion is pure nonsense and is easily disproven by a simple study in human cultures. There are several cultures on this planet that do not believe in your god, or any god for that matter. Yet all of those societies are moral.

In fact, morality evolved as our tribes grew bigger and more sedentary. It became necessary to have rules to dictate acceptable behaviour. Many of those rules eventually became part of the Old Testament, but they did not originate there.

Why would god imbue a sense of morality to people but not the belief in his own self? Don't say free will because that nonsense is getting old.

Why do Christians believe Morality comes from God? I still can't understand this.

I'm quite sure that even animals (which, by the Bible's count, don't even have souls) have morals to a degree, also.

The percentage of believers in prison is higher than the percentage of believers not in jail.

The facts say believers are LESS moral than non-believers.

Morality comes from society and social evolution, not from any mythological being or religion.

I know many people who are moral DESPITE their religion.

Religious humans defecated all over morality. They have none of their own, and must steal all of theirs from a fetid book.

God has nothing to do with it.

"Morality" is an evolved behavioural concept in social species.

If morality is given by a deity then please explain why:

- concepts of marality differ between societies;

- concepts of morality change over time within societies.

So how do you explain why we're MORE moral than believers?
2010-05-03 18:17:56 UTC
How about morality has nothing to do with god, as any cursory reading of your bible would prove?

Riiiiiiight....

Morality is potty training for adults who don't know how to behave.

What are you talking about? That does not make any sense woman, because what your researching has been done by stupid priests or religious fanatics

Could be. It could also be because of the pixie dust that santa sprays on us while we sleep.

Both are equally probable.
