Question:
A serious question for Christians...?
2011-07-09 14:58:09 UTC
The bible says that hating someone or being angry with them is the same as murder in the eyes of God. Jesus says it in the New Testament, though I don't know the exact scripture. As we know, there are plenty of people in the world today that hate each other, so in God's eyes they have commited this great sin of murder, even though they don't commit that actual act itself. I bring this up because of all the stuff going on with the Casey Anthony verdict. Very tragic what happened, but my question is, does God look upon what happened with the same outrage that the world and media have portrayed to the NOT guilty verdict? Remember, hating someone is the EXACT same as murder in GOD'S EYES and that's coming from the bible, not me. There are potentially millions of people out there who hate each other, so according to the bible, God watches millions of people get away with murder everyday. Well, I mean get away with it in the sense that they don't get the death penalty or go to prison. I imagine nobody gets away with anything so far as God is concerned. Please reply ONLY IF YOU BELIEVE THE BIBLE. If you don't, then disregard this post. What do you think?

Great question!

I am a Christian and I will answer best I can.

The verse I'm assuming you're referring to is

1 John 3:15 - which states:

"Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him."

This was the disciple John teaching to the saved saints of God regarding his bretheren in Christ. The saints of God cannot be held accountable at the same level as those who do not have the truth. The saints of God are set apart to the Gospel (Rom 1:1)

we all will be held accountable for what we know, and what we do with what we know. Saints are not to judge those who dont have the truth, but those among them who do.

This verse is talking about one whose heart is full of hate because they do not have God's Spirit- that they still can be forgiven... but those who have God's Spirit already, would not abide in that murderous/haterd spirit.

Someone like Casy Anthony does not know God like those with His Holy Spirit know Him. She lives in darkness. In a different spiritual realm than those who know Christ. James 4:4 says "Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God."

The Bible is clear on sin. Whether there be one sin, or 100, you cannot make it to Heaven without having repented, being washed, and having received the Spirit of God- and being faithful to the Word- doing the Will of God (Matt 7:21).

But, there are Scriptures that talk of degrees of sin.

Like in John 19:11, Jesus told Pilate that those who delivered Him unto Pilate had the greater sin.

And then there are Scriptures that speak of those who will receive "greater condemnation" (Mt. 23:14; Mark 12:40; Luke 20:47; James 3:1).

Rom 6:23 tells us the wages of sin is death.

And those who live by the sword will die by the sword. (Matt 26:52).

There are also sins that are abominations to the LORD. The word "abomination" in the original text means it "disgusts" the Lord.

In Revelation 3:16 God shows how much he loathes complacency. "So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth". that word spue means "vomit". And witchcraft and occult practic angers God, the Word says.

So, there are degrees, but all are held accountable for their deeds.

I heard someone ask- "would those people be just as angry if Casey Anthony aborted Caylee before she was born?" Murder is murder, right?

It all depends on how we view it...but there is only one judge, and that is God.

If I lie, and you kill, we both and doomed to hello- unless we do what is required of us for salvation (Mark 16:16) and being in the Will of God.

The Bible says, "Be ye angry and sin not". So it is not a sin to become angry with anyone but don't sin against God in the process, & don't allow bitterness to take root inside your heart due to not letting that anger go, and forgiving the one that has offended you.

God seeing hatred as sin is this: There is no sin "levels" with God. Meaning, if you stole a car, and I stole a candy bar, God is not going to say to me, "oh well, it was just a small thing" & then say to you, "Wait a minute, a car is a big thing..." SIN IS SIN in God's eyes, no sin is better or worse than any other from His perspective which is why (the Bible says) He is no respector of persons (there is no partiality with God, He judges all sin the same). The only sin that you cannot be forgiven for is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

People who hate Casey A. are people who don't know & obey God. God told us to love the sinner but hate the sin (they commit). That is what Jesus (our example) did.

One other thing: sin starts in the heart before the actions are even committed.

As a Christian I find I simply don't have a whole lot of time for T.V., or for things I can't do anything about. If I was directly involved with this case or knew any of the people involved, you can believe I'd be right in there trying to help in any way I could, but since that's not possible, I'm doing what I can to brighten my own corner.

My husband's back was injured right before the O.J. Simpson case, so in his agony we watched every minute of the trial, knew more than the jurors were allowed to know. In his case I would have had to vote "not guilty" because of the way the evidence was mishandled, whether he was guilty or not. But look what time does! People don't really get away with anything in this world or the next.

1. the jury came to the correct verdict in view of the evidence that was presented- the prosecutor failed to make his case. When you serve on a jury you have to be objective and logical and not let your emotions determine what the truth is. And disregard you own personal opinion. I do think she is guilty but I would not have convicted her either with the weak circumstantial evidence that was presented and he could not definitely tie Casey to any of it.

2. Yes, everyone that is outraged by the verdict is guilty of murder in Gods eyes.

3. We all have lied and killed the truth - that is murder too.

4. And we all have a death sentence for it from God.

5. But God is merciful and forgiving- He want you to have life and life abundantly. And He offers that through the Jesus - Who died on the cross- He paid the penalty- He died for us - He who did not deserve death took death upon Himself - all you have to do is accept that gift to have that abundant life. And that gift is there for Casey Anthony too.

We all have to face judgment day. Until that day God holds his judgments, but then all will answer for every action, thought and all of our lives. It seems they get away with it, but they do not nor will not.

Imagine losing things you could have had forever and ever with God. Some will have much and some nothing waiting to have forever and ever.

Judgment will come and be just and fair. No one will get away with anything at all.

bless you.

And it will not be long til this happens either. Jesus said certain things will happen and they are happening now. Only God knows the day and time, but we can all know it is near.

take care.

Deuteronomy 31:17-18 (King James Version)

17Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?

18And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.

Raymond, I can tell you this and I am quite positive it is so: God is fully aware of the circumstances around the death of Ms. Anthony's daughter, of whether or not Ms. Anthony is guilty or not and will surely deal with it in his time, not ours. He is not moved by what the mob does. Those who are over reacting to the verdict whether it was correct or not will also be dealt with at the appropriate time. If we in our hearts break any one of the commandments it is as if we have committed them all, so that too will be dealt with by God at the appropriate time. None of us were there when the daughter died nor do any of know exact why she died, nor if anyone was adversely involved nor did we have all the facts of the trial, so none of us can be the judge, jury, prosecutor nor defense at the time. We have to trust our judicial system to work and work well. Jesus taught to love your neighbor as yourself. To me that means give Ms. Anthony the benefit of the doubt for under like circumstances that is what I would want others to give me. I trust God's judgment and his mercy, not mine.

People like to find someone to hate because it helps relieve the guilt of their own sins. "I watch pornography, but at least I didn't molest any kids like that guy." "I treat my girlfriend like dirt but at least I didn't rape anyone like he did." "I cussed out my kids the other day but at least I didn't kill them like that woman did." It is only when we recognize that all sin is equally deadly, and all sin is equally forgiven, that we can truly live without hatred of others in our hearts.

Concerning the Casey Anthony trial, far too many people are blindly hating her, too many people had their minds made up the second she became a suspect, let alone when she stood trial. We always look for people to hate; in the past it was Nazis, and Communists, today it is terrorists, murderers, rapists, and pedophiles. Even though these people do bad things, they must be responded to with justice, which is guided by love, instead of vengeance, which is guided by hate.

There are lots of people who claim to be followers of Christ (Christians) who are not. The Bible says if you hate or murder you are not a Christian but a liar.

1Jn 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

1Jn 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1Jn 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Oh, the Bible DOES NOT say anger is sin. It says when you are angry don't sin.

Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Hating someone isn't the same as murder, but In God's eyes it is just as serious a crime. With God, a sin is a sin regardless which sin it is. All sins have the same gravity.

God has unconditional love, humans have conditional love. When we rid ourselves of all our bad or evil emotions then we are ready to have eternal life. If you look at the bible carefully you need to achieve this as a condition.

if you think of it then it is the same as doing it because you have plotted it in your mind and have done it already

intentions can be as bad as the act that hodls true to today...

Only YAHUSHUA has eternal life. the only way you can share that life is if you become one with Him. If you share His life, you will share His mind, and will not be hating. Thus (QED) if you hate your 'brother' it shows you are not one with YAHUSHUA, and thus have passed into death from life.

The bible is right all by itself. We either do what it says or not , Your rewards awaits you.

They don't get away with it. If they don't repent, they perish (people don't go to hell because of their deeds, but of their desire. people don't go to hell because of what they did, but because they don't repent of it). God obstructs repentance and judgment is absolute.
