Hell is not real... debunked by expert...?

Churches of Christendom have misled Christians on virtually every teaching in the Bible.

The church either misinterprets, misunderstands, or mistranslates, and generally misleads the Christian world into believing things that are not accurate.

A classic example is the misunderstanding of the word "Hell."

The word "Hell" as it is used in the Bible's New Testament comes from a Hebrew word "Sheol," which is simply the grave. No fire and brimstone ... just the grave! The concept of fire and brimstone was made popular in a popular work of fiction, Dante's "Inferno."

Jehovah, for instance, replaced an earlier goddess Sheol (means: womb, hell); she was banished to the underworld and this is why to this day we somehow believe that Hell is a big cavern underground and it is also why God has no jurisdiction in hell.

Do some research on this ...

While we're on the subject of hell, one college student pointed out the fallacy of the misunderstanding of the word (below):

"Bonus Question: "Is hell exothermic or endothermic? Support your answer with proof."

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:

"First, We postulate that if souls exist, then they must have some mass. If they do, then a mole of souls can also have a mass. So, at what rate are souls moving into hell and at what rate are souls leaving? I think we can safely assume that once a soul gets to hell, it will not leave.

Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for souls entering hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, then you will go to hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and souls go to hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in hell to increase exponentially.

Now, we look at the rate of change in volume in hell. Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in hell to stay the same, the ratio of the mass of souls and volume needs to stay constant. Two options exist:

1. If hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter hell, then the temperature and pressure in hell will increase until all hell breaks loose.

2. If hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until hell freezes over.

So which is it?" (end quote from college student)

Since when has a college student became an expert in your opinion???

I would rather listen to the eternal woes given out by Jesus in the Bible. He and the Apostles said there will be eternal torment, so who is going to listen to that so-called "expert" student you quoted???

Actually, all the cults were formed by the whims of men who made up unbiblical reinterpretations of certain things to make up a certain kind of unbiblical God. The student writings you quoted here appears to be no different than any other cult writings!

"First, We postulate that if souls exist, then they must have some mass.---Look, not defending theism by any means but does kinetic energy have mass ? Does electric energy have mass ? Does magnetic energy have mass ? Does gravity itself have a mass ? Does time have a mass ? Does length have mass ? Does vacuum have mass ? Does an idea have mass ? Are we defining 'exist' as 'anything with mass' ?

Also, if you posit that souls can exist and that Hell exists (and therefore God exists ?) I'm pretty sure that locking the whole thing down with chemistry and thermodynamics is a no-go.

In the King James Bible, the word "hell" is used 54 times; 31 times in the Old Testament, and 23 times in the New Testament. There are four words that are translated into English as "hell":

1. Tartaroo (Greek, in NT) – translated as “cast down to hell” only once

2. Sheol (Hebrew, in OT) - translated as “hell” 31 times, “grave” 31 times, and “pit” 3 times

3. Hades (Greek, in NT) - translated as “hell” 10 times, and “grave” 1 time

4. Gehenna (Greek, in NT) - translated as “hell” 9 times, and “hell fire” 3 times

It is true that sheol is referring to grave, a place of no consciousness after death. However, gehenna is referring to the lake of fire, God's purification of unbelievers. The lake of fire is not referring to a place with high temperature because it is not a literal fire by a spiritual fire. However, I like the Boyle's Law proof. I wrote an article on all the uses of the word "hell" here: http://www.bible-study-lessons.com/Hell.html and the meaning of the lake of fire here: http://www.bible-study-lessons.com/Lake-of-Fire.html God bless.

If hell is real, God was very dishonest by only telling Eve DEATH alone is the penalty for sin and not eternal punishment, eh? But that is all right because: 1 Cor 15:25 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. K7VHQ San Jacinto... write to me

Silly me, but I will go with the words of Jesus on this. This is not a parable, but an account of a true story. Jesus never mentioned a name in any of his parables.

Luke 16:19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

Luke 16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

Luke 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Luke 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

Luke 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

Luke 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

Luke 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:

Luke 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

Luke 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

Luke 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Hell is more properly defined in scripture as the lake of fire which has not been created yet. It is reserved for Satan and his demons.

Hell in the Bible

The word “hell” is used 54 times in the Bible. It is translated from several different words with various meanings, as indicated below:

In the Old Testament:

• 31 times from the Hebrew “Sheol,” which means “the grave”

In the New Testament:

• 10 times from the Greek “Hades,” which means “the grave”

• 12 times from the Greek “Gehenna,” which means “a place of burning”

• 1 time from the Greek “Tartarus,” which means “a place of darkness” specially prepared for angels that have sinned.

Hell-fire What is that ?

You misunderstand the nature of Hell-fire. You say He doesn't HAVE to let people go there. So you think it's better for those people just to suffer in sin?

According to the Bible, Hell-fire does not yet exist, but will at the end of the Millennium. When people die (both the righteous and the wicked they go to their grave = hell), they do not go directly to Heaven or Hell-fire, nor do they "float around" as ghosts. They both remain in the grave, in a state of "sleep" where they have absolutely no consciousness of anything, nor the passage of time, until Christ returns. At that time, Christ will resurrect the Saved of all time back to permanent, physical life and take them with Him to Heaven, while the Wicked living at that time will be slain by the brightness of His coming. Both they and the Wicked dead of all time shall remain dead for another 1,000 years. During that time, all life on this Earth will be dead, and Satan will be trapped here on this dark, dismal planet littered with corpses during that Millennium. At the end of the 1,000 years, Christ will return with His Saved to judge the wicked (who will be resurrected into their old, mortal bodies), including Satan and his angels. Every person will see every sin they've ever committed. Satan will attempt to lead them in an attack on the New Jerusalem, but then Hellfire will rain down from Heaven and consume them all. They will be instantly and permanently incinerated, never to exist again. They will NOT be "tortured forever", as the pagan idea of Catholicism suggests. This is not scriptural. Even Satan and his angels will be destroyed in the fires of Hell-fire; he will NOT be tending it, poking people with a pitchfork!

The fire will completely cover planet Earth from pole to pole, burning up EVERYTHING, even the elements themselves, and all the ocean water will be evaporated. It will completely remove all trace of sin and sinners forever. Once its work is finished, it will burn out on its own. Some people use the Biblical verse that says the fire will be "unquenchable", but that only means that it cannot be PUT out, but it will burn out on its own.

Once this fire has burned out, then God will set about to re-creating the Earth the way it was in the Beginning - perfect, beautiful and unspoiled. Then the Saved of all time will be allowed to live on it, and build permanent homes and grow their own food. All the animals will be friendly, even former meat-eaters. I'm really looking forward to it.

May God bless you as you study His Word
