Question:
Could it be that the only reason we see the devil as evil is because we only hear God's side of the story?

The bible only tells God's side of the story. What do you think would happen if there was a book that told Lucifer's side of the story? Is there anyone here who would read such a book, who would be willing to consider such a view point, to look at it with an open mind? After all there is always more than one side to every story. And How can anyone claim to understand anything about any story if they only know one side of it? We have God's side, what about Lucifer's?

ever read paradise lost? or menmoch the devil?

basically says god was a tyrant and lucifer left only because he didn't like the way god ran things, not because he was trying to overthrow god. and god only said what he said so people would stay on his side.

The devil is very smart and is able to offer us some very good points. The devil saw something in God that made the devil convinced he could overcome God. God's love did force God to create all the angels and mankind. The devil figures that love must be a weakness then. It's even a tough lesson for us learn that LOVE is real power in the category of ALMIGHTY. The devil gives us this same problem as we experience the actual pain of love. Real love equals pain is the devil's side of the story. Quite a dilemma for us.

very good questions my friend

:-)

well there were actually books written which are far different from the version found in the bible..

some of these books claim that Lucifer is not an adversary, but actually working for God. only when the Canon was put together when they chose specific books that would make him look evil. His real responsibility is to try & test mankind, in obedience to God, not on his own will.

un4tunately, the bible is one sided..

&only people with great wisdom can use it without being bias. Not specifically atheists, but never Christians of course. only when you open your higher self to the Truth whether it's painful & unorthodox, that you'd be able to comprehend such mystery.

that's why we call it Blind Faith, once it's opened....

Faith would be gone.. Mystery solved... Truth prevailed...

but some things we have Faith in are True...

& not everything Truthful, we should ever have Faith in.

Jesus resist the devil when Satan tempted in the wilderness. Please refer this url: http://www.childrenstory.info/biblestoryforchild/chdbbltemptedinthewilderness.html

One important question that people often ask themselves is: If God is so good as many claim, where does all the evil in the world come from? Grossly simplified we will try to summarise our answer in the following way. The Bible claims that all evil originates from the Devil. He was originally one of Gods most prominent Angels. But he became proud of his power and beauty and rebelled against God by:

* wanting to make himself god. He did this by, amongst other things,

* asserting a completely new lifestyle. He began to be concerned primarily with himself rather than with the good of others

* and by questioning the character of God, among other things by claiming that God was unreliable, a betrayer.

Christians forget Lucifer was God's favorite angel once. I wrote a short novel once in which the Devil granted a Godly man the gift of removing the Seven Deadly Sins from the world. Of course, it all fell apart in increasingly disastrous ways. The Godly man eventually asks for them back. Two sides to everything - or five or six when my father discussed anything! Only one thing is sure - it's up to us to choose our own poison. Or not.

Like God, Lucifer has a direct line to your mind and spirit. Who do you listen to?

The Bible is simply an operations manual for life. It is not God. If the Bible were the only thing that told me God existed, I wouldn't buy it for a minute. I don't even believe everything I read in the newpaper.

Only a personal relationship with God or Satan will determine who we are.

I have had a relationship with both...and I choose God.

I've watched a lot of horror movies and by and large, Satan is always the bad guy! I don't think it goes in his favour that God has angels and Satan has minions. I've seen Buffy The Vampire Slayer and the devil's minions are top grade ugly! I mean, look at the Exorcist. Would you kiss your kid goodnight if it looked like Meghan at maximum possession? Not unless you were wearing a raincoat and carrying a barf bag!

No ... with self-publishing being so easy and affordable today, I think the devil blew his chance if he hasn't written his story by now. You snooze, you lose!

I don't wanna listen to a liar. The devil deceived one-third of the angels into rejecting God. We are to submit ourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from us. Even entertaining such a thought as this one of yours is foolish. God, help us all. Where is this world gonna end up in another hundred years?

Before Eve and Adam ate the forbidden fruit there was no pain, suffering, tears, anguish and so on. But after Satan intervened everything evil was unveiled. Now you know his veiw point and that is to undermind God's children and have them join him in the burning inferno for eternity. Don't you get it, he is already defeated and he knows it. It's like a game to him that he's already loss, but he wants to take as many of the souls of earth that he can with him. He hates God and if he had his way all of God's children would belong to Satan.

God Bless You

Check out "Paradise Lost", or Mark Twain's "The Mysterious Stranger" and "Letters to Earth". Great stories.

I say if you're going to let Christians speak for the devil, then you might as well have Hitler speak for the Jews.

Wrong...there are two distinct stories that clearly show Satan's character.

Thast of a liar .

First, when he told Eve that she would not die if she disobeyed God. Shge eventually did.

and when Satan, right in front of God, in heaven, stated that Job would curse God if he ever got very sick. So God told Satan that he could make Job very sick and even hurt Job's family, but was not to kill Job.

Job proved Satan again lied. Job remained faithful to God, even though he was very sick and lost ALL his family in death.

Later, Job's reward was to gain a new family and his health, and to this Jehovah God added wealth.

yes i would be more than happy to consider the other view point. However, either side could spin it the way they want meaning that there probably would be no logical way to fully believe either side.

Well, some say the personification of God and Satan were the worst mistakes ever made.

The choice of good or evil must be made with an open heart or theocracy's curse of faith destroying free will becomes a sin against god.

That's true we don't get a complete picture do we? I mean Satan never had a chance to give his side of the story. I think God owes us an explanation!

Spoken like a true demon.

Not interested, already know the story, both sides.

if people have a deep faith, even if they hear the lucifer side of the story,it won't matter.
2007-06-08 22:32:39 UTC
Well, being that God created Lucifer, I would say that it was up to him if he had his own book. Hmmm. Looks like God wins!

Satan is a master of misrepresentation. He is the world's greatest advertiser, packaging his product so it seems attractive and appealing while in reality it is deathly poisonous. He wants his clients to see him as good, beneficent and trustworthy. He wants his product —sin and rejection of God—to appear enticing and inviting, and he is usually quite successful.

Satan never presents sin as it really is. He never presents both sides of the story, pro and con. He presents only what he wants us to see, something that appears fun and exciting. He wants us to focus on pleasure, on what feels or looks good at the moment. He wants long-term consequences to be the last thing on our minds while he entices us to sin.

The vast majority of people have lost sight of the real connection between cause and effect. We rarely hear or see that concept mentioned, much less discussed. Instead we hear people clamor for quick fixes to every problem, ease for every discomfort and a pill for every ailment. We seldom stop to consider the long-term consequences of our actions.

Our approach is shortsighted and foolish. "Do not be deceived," cautions Paul. "God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow" (Galatians 6:7, NRSV).

We live in a world that pays little attention to the long-term results of sin. We don't think through the consequences of our words and deeds, and we're constantly under pressure from a society that is built on Satan's standards and values rather than God's.

It's neither easy nor popular, considering the culture surrounding us, to adopt a different set of values and standards—those that God reveals.

As Jesus said: "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world . . . the world hates you" (John 15:18-19). God's way will never be popular in this day and age.

Nevertheless, most people appear supremely confident that their ways are pleasing to God. They defend their religious beliefs and practices as being perfectly satisfactory and acceptable in God's eyes. They assume that all, or mostly all, teachers and churches bearing the Christian name teach the truth. Few indeed stop to consider that Satan's great deception is not only worldwide, but has deeply infiltrated Christianity.

Notice the context of Paul's words when he writes that Satan appears as "an angel of light." In 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 Paul warns of "false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ." We shouldn't be surprised at this, writes Paul, because "Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works."

Is that possible? How could people who claim to represent Christ be Satan's "ministers," his servants, used by the devil to spread deception?

Jesus Himself repeatedly warns of this very thing! He predicted that many would appropriate His name but deny Him by their actions. He said they would "call Me 'Lord, Lord,'" but "not do the things which I say" (Luke 6:46).

Jesus and His true apostles spoke of false apostles, false prophets and false brethren. He warns: "Take heed that no once deceives you. For many will come in My name . . . and will deceive many" (Matthew 24:4-5, 11-12). He knew that false teachers would arise who would teach a distorted, corrupted version of Christianity. That deception began in the first century, when Paul wrote that some were already teaching a "different gospel" and "pervert[ing] the gospel of Christ" (Galatians 1:6-7).

To carry out his purpose, Satan uses some people to deceive other people. This is especially true when they are motivated by personal ambition to be teachers of spiritual matters but lack a proper understanding of the Scriptures. Satan simply takes advantage of that desire and seduces susceptible individuals to represent Christ falsely, though often sincerely, while advancing the devil's own deceptive, disguised agenda.

Lest you be misled by this greatest of all of Satan's deceptions, you need to be sure that your beliefs are based firmly on the Bible.
