Question:
Is Christmas Already a Secular Holiday? And is Anything Wrong With That?

In the Christmas holidays that I have experienced, the focus is getting together with family and friends, feasting on rich food, and giving gifts to children, as well as making donations to those who are less fortunate.

Most people I know also have this mindset towards Christmas. Sure, some of them may also vaguely put a connection to Christianity. They might have a manger on the lawn. But that's about it.

Am I living in the wrong neighborhood, or is Christmas already a secular holiday here? I respect if it is a religious holiday to you, but is there anything wrong with it being something else to me, and what appears to be a growing majority?

Christmas has always been a secular holiday. There have been times when different organizations have tried to interject some religious symbolism, but that is not in it's beginings.

Take any day you wish, Christmas or next Tuesday, to exchange gifts, to worship, to engage in family traditions, etc.

The actions you mention from your past are secular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Christmas is pretty much a secular holiday these days and has been for some time. Fewer and fewer people are attending services on Christmas. Soon it will simply be a winter holiday without any real religious meaning.

The wise men gave gifts to Jesus - not to each other.

There is nothing wrong with giving and receiving gifts. But you don't have to wait until 25 Dec only to say that you are doing it for Jesus.

Because you're not.

If you love someone then show them today.

There is nothing Christian about Christmas. It is a catholic contrivance with pagan roots.(Christ Mass)

We celebrate Jesus every day of the year in our hearts - just as he wants. The gift that we give him is our hearts and souls.

There is no Christmas just because Jesus could have been a myth and not historical and the event itself was celebrated by pagans that is 25th dec of every year
