Child predations among "catholic priests" is lower than the rate in the general population.

"I never hear of this happening with any protestant denominations." That's because you are apparently out of touch with contemporary news coverage (and you haven't bothered to check statistics.)

> "an [sic] how is abusing children an act of God ?

Who said it was "an act of God"??? Why are you blaming God?

>it angers me how they get away with it too for so many years .

Criminals get away with all sorts of crime for years. Why is this any different?

What I don't understand is why you are focusing on one crime among one particular demographics. Are you truly unaware that child predation rates are much higher among junior high athletic coaches in most countries?

I'm not Roman Catholic but I don't understand the point of your questions. You sound very selective about your outrage.

they don't seem to be homosexuals, they're paedophiles and also you will have to appear up extra knowledge on what one is. what they did - if it is actual - used to be fallacious - no query approximately that. nonetheless what the media is doing is fallacious - they're placing worry into individuals whilst the clergymen who did this are classed to a exact technology and age organization. there are GOOD clergymen - the bulk like ninety nine% who've no longer even had an allegation permit by myself conviction. it additionally has NOTHING to do with intercourse inside a wedding. listed below are a couple of records for you 2 wrap your mind round.... 60% of abusers are the PARENT nine.6% of all academics will abuse a pupil seventy nine.nine% of abusers are married there are eleven% MORE allegations in opposition to protestant clergy than Catholic clergymen unluckily, again within the 50's via the early ninety's there have been individuals who DID suppose intercourse with kids used to be just a sexual indiscretion. they even fought to have the "age of consent" reduced and even abolished. fortunately they have got misplaced footing and those firms aren't round or possibly again in a closet. whilst it is terrible those matters STILL occur in these days, fortunately individuals no longer have a voice and be certain they're heard.

All of us have heard stories about policemen, doctors, teachers, counselors and priests that have betrayed a sacred trust. These individuals represent vocations we look to for guidance, hope and help. We want to be able to trust them. But when one of these people violates our trust, it seems much worse and even harder to comprehend than when other people in society fail. Nonetheless, it doesn't mean that we should abandon all respect for law enforcement, health care, education or the Church because people who work in those professions and vocations fail to live as Christ calls them to live. After all, the vast majority of people in those vocations serve in a heroic and exemplary manner.

In Matthew 13:24-30 Jesus Christ described His Church, the Kingdom of Heaven, as being a “field of wheat and weeds,” showing that there would be good and bad, saints and sinners and everyone in between in the Church until the day when He returned to judge the nations. This means that, sadly, there will be members of His Church — including priests and bishops — who have committed sins that have hurt others.

In Pope John Paul II’s apostolic letter entitled Tertio Millenio Adviente (Toward the Third Millenium), he affirmed that “…the Church should become more fully conscious of the sinfulness of her children, recalling all those times in history when they departed from the spirit of Christ and his Gospel and, instead of offering to the world the witness of a life inspired by the values of faith, indulged in ways of thinking and acting which were truly forms of counter-witness and scandal.” He went on to say that “Before God and man she always acknowledges as her own her sinful sons and daughters. As Lumen Gentium affirms: ‘The Church, embracing sinners to her bosom, is at the same time holy…’” . The Church herself is indeed holy, but she is made up of sinful members.

All situations of scandal, however, do not negate or disprove the truth that Christ transmitted to the world through His Apostles (Mark 16:15). As Christ promised, in spite of the weakness and sinfulness — and sometimes the scandal — caused by priests and other Catholics, “the gates of hell will not prevail against” the Church.

You cannot corral this issue into a religion box. It is happening all over the world in all walks of life..there have been boy scouts leaders, teachers, clergy of all faiths who have done this horrible harm to children. Open your eyes and see the moral decay of many individuals within our society. Pornography is rampant, in all countries on the internet, child pornography is a scourge on our society and it touches all aspects of our existence.

Offenders are more likely to be relatives or acquaintances of their victim than strangers.[116] A 2006–07 Idaho study of 430 cases found that 82% of juvenile sex offenders were known to the victims (acquaintances 46% or relatives 36%).[117][118]

More offenders are male than female, though the percentage varies between studies (see female child molesters). The percentage of incidents of sexual abuse by female perpetrators that come to the attention of the legal system is usually reported to be between 1% and 4%.[119] Studies of sexual misconduct in US schools with female offenders have shown mixed results with rates between 4% to 43% of female offenders.[120] Maletzky (1993) found that, of his sample of 4,402 convicted pedophilic offenders, 0.4% were female.[121] Another study of a non-clinical population found that, among those in their sample that had been molested, as many as a third were molested by women.[122]

In U.S. schools, educators who offend range in age from "21 to 75 years old, with an average age of 28".[123]

According to C.E. Dettmeijer-Vermeulen, Dutch national spokeswoman on human traffic and sexual violence against children, in the Netherlands, 3% of the convicted perpetrators are women,[124] 14.58% of the victims are boys[124] and "most victims were abused by a family member, friend or acquaintance."[124] One in six perpetrators is himself underage.[125]

There are no more priests accused of child molesting (mostly pederasty, male adult sex with teen males) than of other professions

There is as much protestant pastor child molesting and probably more ( and incest as well) as Catholic

Superiors did not report the accusations and often transferred the accused even after many repeated charges

Practicing Catholics are more angered by this than anyone else since this is a betrayal of Catholic moral teaching and practice

(98% of priests, living and dead < have not been accused and most i know are wonderful and good people)

Most priests who are accused are not convicted by courts because of lack of evidence

There is more reporting of the catholic accusations because much of the press is anti Catholic or at least anti clerical

also, Catholic record keeping about such things is more complete and centralized than Protestant

and it is then easier for the protestant cases to be more effectively buried

It does happen with protestants, silly goose.

And I agree, all pedophiles - priests or not - should be locked up in a Nazi-style concentration camp and butt-raped daily by 500-pound gorillas.

The church denies them the right to marry.

In the past even Popes married.

Then another made this ungodly law.

This was prophesied in the scriptures.

If they deny this natural right to marry, then they the catholic church is really the Antichrist.

A full 80% of these abuse cases are false accusers, but they know their ending, these molesters inherit hell as well, they got in because I trusted my priesthood, this was a mistake, but yes as it is written, better to put a Milestone around your neck and toss yourselves overboard before you hurt one of my children in this way.

The incidence of such crimes among Catholic priests is exactly the same as among any other large group of men - about 1% - and slightly lower than the incidence among Protestant clergy. Only the amount of media coverage is greater in cases involving priests.

There are probably as many Protestants as Catholics doing that cowardly deed. The difference is that Catholic bashing is now a national pastime; actually, it has always been, just more so now.

Because it's such a huge 'sin' for Catholic priests to marry an actual grown woman and stick his junk in her junk.

Because they failed to stop it and basically went on with business as usual. What's even more amazing is that very few parishioners left the church.

BIBLE DICTIONARY

Prayer

Before the first generation of mankind had passed away, men began to call upon the name of the Lord (Gen. 4: 26; Moses 5: 4). Prayers, whether with (Gen. 12: 8; Gen. 13: 4) or without (Gen. 20: 7; Gen. 32: 9-11) sacrifice, were constantly offered by the patriarchs to God. The efficacy of the intercession of good men was recognized (Gen. 18: 23; Gen. 20: 7; Ex. 32: 11).

Prayer is nowhere specifically commanded as a duty in the law, and prayers were not prescribed at the sacrifices except on two occasions: a confession of sin on the Day of Atonement (Lev. 16: 21), and a thanksgiving when offering the firstfruits and tithes (Deut. 26: 3, 13). It is, however, certain from the nature of things, and from the custom in later times, that prayer accompanied sacrifice.

Even in the times of the Judges, the children of Israel did not forget to cry unto the Lord, and a model of prayer is furnished by Hannah (1 Sam. 2: 1). Samuel was recognized by his nation to be characteristically a man of prayer (1 Sam. 7: 5, 8; 1 Sam. 12: 19, 23; Ps. 99: 6). David’s Psalms, and the Psalms generally, breathe the highest spirit of prayer. The nation that possessed them must have been rich in teachers and examples of prayer. Remarkable prayers were prayed by Solomon (1 Kgs. 8); Hezekiah (2 Kgs. 19: 14, etc.; Isa. 38: 9, etc.); Ezra (Ezra 9: 5); the Levites (Neh. 9: 5, etc.); and Daniel (Dan. 9: 3, etc.). “Making many prayers” was a part of the corrupt religion of Israel under the later kings (Isa. 1: 15), and a marked feature of the religion of the Pharisees (Matt. 6: 5; Matt. 23: 14).

It was the custom to pray three times a day. So David (Ps. 55: 17), Daniel (Dan. 6: 10), and the later Jews. Prayer was said before meat (1 Sam. 9: 13; Matt. 15: 36; Acts 27: 35).

The attitude of prayer ordinarily was standing (1 Sam. 1: 26; Neh. 9: 2, 4; Matt. 6: 5; Luke 18: 11, 13); also kneeling (1 Kgs. 8: 54; Dan. 6: 10; Ezra 9: 5); or prostrate (Josh. 7: 6; Neh. 8: 6). The hands were spread forth to heaven (1 Kgs. 8: 22; Ezra 9: 5; Isa. 1: 15; Ps. 141: 2). Smiting on the breast and rending of the garments signified special sorrow (Luke 18: 13; Ezra 9: 5). The Lord’s attitude in prayer is recorded only once. In the Garden of Gethsemane he knelt (Luke 22: 41), fell on his face (Matt. 26: 39), fell on the ground (Mark 14: 35). It is noteworthy that Stephen (Acts 7: 60), Peter (Acts 9: 40), Paul (Acts 20: 36; Acts 21: 5), and the Christians generally (Acts 21: 5) knelt to pray.

Prayers were said at the Sanctuary (1 Sam. 1: 9-12; Ps. 42: 2, 4; 1 Kgs. 8), or looking toward the Sanctuary (1 Kgs. 8: 44, 48; Dan. 6: 10; Ps. 5: 7); on the housetop or in an upper chamber (Acts 10: 9; Dan. 6: 10). The Pharisees prayed publicly in the synagogues and at the corners of the streets (Matt. 6: 5). The Lord prayed upon the tops of mountains (Matt. 14: 23; Luke 9: 28), or in solitary places (Mark 1: 35).

As soon as we learn the true relationship in which we stand toward God (namely, God is our Father, and we are his children), then at once prayer becomes natural and instinctive on our part (Matt. 7: 7-11). Many of the so-called difficulties about prayer arise from forgetting this relationship. Prayer is the act by which the will of the Father and the will of the child are brought into correspondence with each other. The object of prayer is not to change the will of God, but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant
