Maybe there is something I missed, but I don't see why Jewish would ally with Pagans.

Yes, it does :-)

We have allied with each other because we both get picked on by Christians on a pretty regular basis.

Edit: To answer your question, in my opinion, "Messianics" are Christians; I have no interest in them, and their choice to abandon their heritage is none of my business.

Edit 2: If they want to be treated like Jews, they should not behave/believe like Christians. But it's their choice - it always has been.

I've always heard that it stands for Jews, Pagans and Allies. It is an informal group of answers users that works to counter misinformation about Judaism, various Pagan groups, atheism, etc. There are more than just Jewish people and Pagans that use the JPA name in my experience.

Also, just to let you know, Hillel the Elder lived in the first century BCE (c. 100-10 BCE.) He is reputed to be the source for many of the teachings ascribed to Jesus of Nazareth.

Edit:

You misunderstand :) The reason I say "reputed to be" is that it is uncertain whether Jesus or the authors of the Christian bible obtained the sayings attributed to the earlier Hillel directly from Hillel's writings, his students, or from other sources. In any event, your assertion that Jesus said anything "thousands of years" before Hillel is in error.

Because Christian Fundies spread fallacies and malicious rumors about us both. So Jews and Pagans got together to star questions which were getting plenty of false answers from Christians in order that we could give them proper information from actual Jews and Pagans.

By the way, Judaism believes that ALL the righteous share in the world to come, regardless of belief. Ethical action is more important. Who are the righteous? Rabbi Hillel says, "What is hateful to yourself, don't do to others, that's the whole of the law, the rest in commentary upon that."

Edit: Yes, except Hillel said it before Jesus. Hillel died when Jesus would have been about 12. It doesn't matter, Thales, a pagan Greek Philosopher said it seven centuries before either one of them lived.

I guess it depends on the usage.

According to Wikki JPA is an alternative name for The Java Persistence API.
