My dad always said rock music was Devil music and we shouldn't listen to it. But I don't really believe that - it's just music. It really depends on what the singer is saying.
I love listening to modern rock, and even Christian rock, but I don't listen to it on Sundays since its The Lord's day.

Is it wrong for a Christian to listen to rock music? Can I listen to it on Sunday?

Yes. I'm a dad; maybe even older than YOUR dad. My son is a drummer and has played for several churches.

My thoughts on music, ANY kind of music, are this: Show me anywhere in scripture where it says there is any such thing as a satanic CHORD of music...It's not there...To the contrary, Psalms encourages us to "make a joyful noise."

Psa_66:1 To the chief Musician, A Song or Psalm. Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:

Psa_81:1 To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of Asaph. Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

Psa_95:1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

Psa_95:2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

Psa_98:4 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

Psa_98:6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.

Psa_100:1 A Psalm of praise. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

Psalm 98:4 even says "loud noise."

Now I probably agree with your dad that there are definitely Satanic LYRICS, but I see nothing wrong with LIVELY music.

As a bisexual Christian I make sure people like your dad are as ineffective at ruining other people's faith in Christ as possible.

Yes, I listen to Rock music. I am in a phase where I really like 90's Alternative. Pandora has a good station.

I’m an atheist but I was brought up Christian so I know quite a bit about it. And in my ex church they used to play Christian rock music.

You should show your dad this band (please do and he will eat is words), they are an entirely Christian rock band, and despite me being atheist I f**kin love them. (When it comes to music I don’t judge based on beliefs)

There's nothing wrong with rock music, trust me. It's only the lyrics that are heard in some that are bad.

<----listening to Sweet Home Chicago by the blues brothers right now

but don't let it fill you

there is no such thing as "Just Music" music is powerful as it slips right past the filters we usually have up and goes right to the soul

so protect yourself......do all things in moderation
