In hinduism there are 36,000,004 gods.

In these god main are:

Shiva - god of destruction

Bhramma - Creator of the world

Vishnu - care taker of the world

Laxmi - goddess of money

Ganesha - son of shiva & god of good work

krishna, ram & many others are form taken by vishnu when he came to earth to save the world.

but other than that there are still many gods

General belief is that universe was created by God (Parmeshwara) who then created Brahma. Brahma created our world & solar system & 33 deities. (not 33 million, its a mistranslation of Sanskrit word 'koti')

U don't worship God, but deities based on ur profession & family history. Vishnu is related to commerce & hence, worshipped by traders. Shiva is related to mysticism & hence worshipped by hermits & sages & so on. Kali, krishna etc are late additions to pantheon & are actually local deities of native tribes. Their role is to help their devotees, God regulates karma, including that of deities themselves.

Some Hindus are pantheist (Vaishnavites & Shaivites) & some monotheist (Smartas). Buddhists & Jains are also considered atheist Hindus. Indonesian Hindus do not worship God at all, but spirits of ancestors. Some believe in heaven & hell & others in reincarnation.

That is why, we have many Gods, a person is allowed to worship anyone (or anything) anyway they like (or not worship at all). We don't have the concepts of blasphemy or heresy or religious conversion (until Hare Krishna bs).

Just as there is one president or Prime minister, many persons work under him. Just as a CEO has many people working under him, he is enjoying most of the time. Krsna the supreme personality of Godhead has many gods working under him. This is shown in the Bhagavad Gita

'Men in this world desire success in fruitive activities, and therefore they worship the demigods. Quickly, of course, men get results from fruitive work in this world'

(demi)gods such as kali, indra and shiva all have roles, However Lord Krsna has no role, He is the supreme enjoyer.

True. Hinduism is the belief of the multiplicity of gods, and not the belief of one deity. They have MANY gods and goddesses. They say the most superior is "Brahman".

I do not agree on the whole concept of Hinduism. Although the practices of the religion go back many years before all other religions; but then, people used to do idol worship all the time (and that is until the religion Islam came).

There's a fundamentalist Christian site that tells KIDS, "Jesus loves you! Ganesha doesn't!"

So, overall i don't know much about Hinduism but only that they have many gods and worship animals, idols etc.

You are asking why hasn't the Indian society evolved from polytheism into monotheism. Certain Gods; Shiva, Kali, etc. have monotheist characteristics, but the society as whole is polytheist. I may guess that this is such because of the active diversity of cultures, traditions, etc. they successfully coexist in. Theoretically, it is bound to become a monotheist society, but everything to its timing.

Sanatan Dharma is the most eternal, spiritual and divine religion unlike other pagan religions.Unlike other pagan religions whose existence is questioned time and again its Sanatan Dharma which has always guided the people on this planet.

Hindus believe in a single omnipotent God, the many deities are different manifestations of this single entity.

God is one, Krishna, and there are many demi-gods subordinate to the one Supreme God.

the role of the persons you wanted to know:

shiva is for destruction

kali is shiva's wife

ganesha is their son

Indra is the head of svargaloka, heavenly planet

vishnu is the incarnation of Krishna.

id guess probably because they work on a more realistic basis rather than fantasy one

life isnt just 'one' of anything, it evolves and breeds, so i dont see why gods would be any different, and like allother life, each god has a 'personality' and something to add to it all

• Hinduism is the only religion accept one God Brahman. Water, ice and steam is fundamentally one thing. But we call it different name. Entire universe is matter. Diverse Matter is really one thing ( energy or FIRE).That is adwaita(No two things- Oneness of the creation and the creator) Fire, light, heat sound, Electricity wind, magnetism etc are form of energy. One form of energy we can converted to another form by suitable device. That mean different form of energy is one and the same. Even though one; different energy have different property. That is why we call it different name . Same way God is one. The Power who is creating new things is called Brahma. Who is protecting the entire life can called Vishu. Who is the cause of destruction is called Shiva. If you carefully watch the nature, you can understand Different form of Power. Our Maha Rishis in deep meditation described their experience as 1000 sun rise together That means they visualize entire universe as light energy .Light energy plant can absorb and converted to life force(consciousness’)One energy manifested in crores of matter we call it different name. Even though all is energy , if you feel hungry you have to take food ,if you are thirsty you have to drink liquid and if you feel fever you have to take energy in the form of medicine. Because particular compound have particular property. Same way Hindu have lot of Male and female devatas to activate their body’s spiritual centres Science have to advance further to understand it. When any thing die; it disintegrate and absorbed by other plants or living organism. That is rebirth. If the body have rebirth, soul should also have rebirth. Hindus should not be shy to tell that we have plenty of Devatas. Another thing Hindu shy are idol worship. One person asked SREE NARAYANA GURU; Muslims rulers are attacked Hindu temple and destroyed lot of idol, then this idol cannot save themselves. Then Sree Narayana Guru asked him. Who created human being? He told ALLA.H. Guru ask him If somebody kill a man what ALLAH do to the killer. Man said he will punish after death. Guru said why cannot say idol destroyer shall be punished after death. Idol a stone in it finest form enery. Light energy plant can convert to life force. That mean a stone is NIRGUNA Brahman and living things are SAGUNA Brahman. According to Hinduism stone also have consciousness This is pure science

Semitic religion know that other God exist .But they preach bow to one God only, otherwise you will be punished Even though lot of cast and religion in India is peace full compare to muslim country

if you ask this Question to a learned Hindu who is well versed with the Hindu Scriptures. He will reply that the Hindus should actually believe and worship Only One God,

Having many gods to choose from increases the odds of having your religion chosen.

All god's paths lead to heaven. Unless your Hindu. Then it's back to earth for you. Reincarnation and all that.

What is TRUE VEDIC concept of "Brahma, Visnoo,Siva, Ganesh ,Mata, Surya" the VARIOUS ATTRIBUTEs(Names) of GOD?

Please give answers after going through as follows,

SHIVA is unmanifested form of GOD.

GOD (Shiva) Himself manifested in the form of SPIRITUAL ENERGY and Non Spirutual energy i. e. UNIVERSE.

BRAHMA in not a person in physical human form. He represents the first MANIFESTATION OF GOD in the form of root CREATIVE ENERGY from where SPIRITUAL ENERGY & entire universe evolved.

Actually LINGA means SIGN. It is clear from GITA that LINGA means sign.

SO SHIVA LINGA is actually SIGN of GOD.

In Vedas VISNOO,SIVA ,BRAHMA,MATA,GANESH & SURYA etc are various attributes and names of God.Four Handed VISNOO,Three eyed SIVA ,eight handed MATA,trunk headed GANESHA are further image forms( visual symbols or visual names) of One and Same God. Today, people misunderstand the concept, many of them treat them as a superman type heroes living on another planets , while others try to see them as historical parsonality.THEY ARE WRONG. The word "'VISNOO"' and the image 'FOUR HANDED" , both are the word(sound) name and image(light) names respectively of One God.Similar is the ""SHIVA'', ""MATA'' and "'THREE EYED'' and ''EIGHT HANDED''visual forms.

RIG VEDA says as follows

"AIKEM SEDVIPRA BAHUDHA VADANTY" (Sages describe ONE GOD in various ways)

However, with the passage of time ,there grew lots of old stories fabricated by some unwise & mean persons against the root concept of religion. These ALLAUDDIN & ALIF LAILA TYPE stories are known as old(PURANIC)stories.

We believe in HINDUISM based on 9 UPNISHDADs, GITA and GURBANI.

These all reflect same line of spiritual philosophy.

SO, Who is SHIVA?

SHIVA is unmanifested form of GOD.

GOD (Shiva) Himself manifested in the form of SPIRITUAL ENERGY and Non Spirutual energy i. e. UNIVERSE.

Modern science also supports this that entire universe (Form of energy) came into existence(WITH INNUMERABLE TRASFORMATIONs) after emanating from single source of energy.

This is THE PHILOSOPHY OF true HINDUISM based on 9 UPNISHADs, GITA and GURBANY.

Brahma is the secondary creator, but Krishna is the prime cause of all causes as Brahma himself states in his treatise called as Brahma Samhita.

Śrī Brahma-saḿhitā 5.1

īśvaraḥ paramaḥ kṛṣṇaḥ

sac-cid-ānanda-vigrahaḥ

anādir ādir govindaḥ

sarva-kāraṇa-kāraṇam

Kṛṣṇa who is known as Govinda is the Supreme Godhead. He has an eternal blissful spiritual body. He is the origin of all. He has no other origin and He is the prime cause of all causes.

One can worship various demigods in order to achieve various purposes, but in order to achieve any or all of these or to be free from all these material desires, ultimately one is asked to worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna (purṣam param).

2.2-7: One who desires to be absorbed in the impersonal brahmajyoti effulgence should worship the master of the Vedas [Lord Brahmā or Bṛhaspati, the learned priest], one who desires powerful sex should worship the heavenly King, Indra, and one who desires good progeny should worship the great progenitors called the Prajāpatis. One who desires good fortune should worship Durgādevī, the superintendent of the material world. One desiring to be very powerful should worship fire, and one who aspires only after money should worship the Vasus. One should worship the Rudra incarnations of Lord Śiva if he wants to be a great hero. One who wants a large stock of grains should worship Aditi. One who desires to attain the heavenly planets should worship the sons of Aditi. One who desires a worldly kingdom should worship Viśvadeva, and one who wants to be popular with the general mass of population should worship the Sādhya demigod. One who desires a long span of life should worship the demigods known as the Aśvinī-***āras, and a person desiring a strongly built body should worship the earth. One who desires stability in his post should worship the horizon and the earth combined. One who desires to be beautiful should worship the beautiful residents of the Gandharva planet, and one who desires a good wife should worship the Apsarās and the Urvaśī society girls of the heavenly kingdom. One who desires domination over others should worship Lord Brahmā, the head of the universe. One who desires tangible fame should worship the Personality of Godhead, and one who desires a good bank balance should worship the demigod Varuṇa. If one desires to be a greatly learned man he should worship Lord Śiva, and if one desires a good marital relation he should worship the chaste goddess Umā, the wife of Lord Śiva.

SB 2.3.8: One should worship Lord Viṣṇu or His devotee for spiritual advancement in knowledge, and for protection of heredity and advancement of a dynasty one should worship the various demigods.

SB 2.3.9: One who desires domination over a kingdom or an empire should worship the Manus. One who desires victory over an enemy should worship the demons, and one who desires sense gratification should worship the moon. But one who desires nothing of material enjoyment should worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

SB 2.3.10: A person who has broader intelligence, whether he be full of all material desire, without any material desire, or desiring liberation, must by all means worship the supreme whole, the Personality of Godhead.

SB 2.3.11: All the different kinds of worshipers of multidemigods can attain the highest perfectional benediction, which is spontaneous attraction unflinchingly fixed upon the Supreme Personality of Godhead, only by the association of the pure devotee of the Lord.

SB 2.3.12: Transcendental knowledge in relation with the Supreme Lord Hari is knowledge resulting in the complete suspension of the waves and whirlpools of the material modes. Such knowledge is self-satisfying due to its being free from material attachment, and being transcendental it is approved by authorities. Who could fail to be attracted?
