Why did so many Atheists and Liberals fall for the Global Warming Hoax?

I remember a couple yrs ago Posting on Yahoo R&S how there was no such thing as Man-Made global warming, that climate change was all part of what had been foretold in the last days about Signs in the Seasons on heaven and earth, yet people said it was the Christians that did not care of the planet, that they were waiting for Jesus to fix it and so on...

But YET Truth Prevails and it was a HOAX.
Global Warming in Last 15 Years Insignificant, U.K.'s Top Climate Scientist Admits

The embattled ex-head of the research center at the heart of the Climate-gate scandal dropped a bombshell over the weekend, admitting in an interview with the BBC that there has been no global warming over the past 15 years.

The embattled ex-head of the research center at the heart of the Climate-gate scandal dropped a bombshell over the weekend, admitting in an interview with the BBC that there has been no global warming over the past 15 years.

Phil Jones, former head of the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, made a number of eye-popping statements to the BBC's climate reporter on Sunday. Data from CRU, where Jones was the chief scientist, is key evidence behind the claim that the growth of cities (which are warmer than countryside) isn't a factor in global warming and was cited by the U.N.'s climate science body to bolster statements about rapid global warming in recent decades.

The British scientist in the middle of November’s ClimateGate scandal says that contrary to what Al Gore and many in the media claim, the debate concerning manmade global warming is not over.

“There is still much that needs to be undertaken to reduce uncertainties, not just for the future, but for the instrumental (and especially the palaeoclimatic) past as well,” Phil Jones, the former head of Britain’s Climatic Research Unit told the BBC.

In a lengthy Q&A published at BBC.com Saturday, Jones also said: the recent warming trend that began in 1975 is not at all different than two other planetary warming phases since 1850; there has been no statistically significant warming since 1995, and; it is possible the Medieval Warm Period was indeed a global phenomenon thereby making the temperatures seen in the latter part of the 20th century by no means unprecedented.

Maybe most important, Jones explained what “hide the decline” in ClimateGate e-mail messages meant confirming they manipulated data (questions in bold, h/t Sonic Frog via Glenn Reynolds):

[...]

The entire global warming myth depends on tree-ring data that was grossly errant for forty years in the last century. This makes the decline ClimateGate scientists were trying to hide FAR MORE serious than most people believe.

Well, I was sure it was a hoax too, but now not so sure. Franklin Graham is convinced it's not a hoax, but I think it's because he saw so much ice when in Alaska. He saw huge chunks of ice bigger than houses which came off glaciers I guess. But he had to go help these Alaskans out and it was a major job since some of the ice had destroyed homes. Yes, and he put the pictures of this ice in the Samaritan's Purse newsletter and it was scary. So, I don't know whether it's a hoax. He quoted the verse in II Peter which says the earth will be burned up and says that is why.

Why do so many Christians and conservatives deny it, and glom onto errant, twisted and parsed little factoids in light of other, prevalent, overwhelming evidence?

First, it's money. Second, your little god commanded that you be good stewards of the planet he made for you. If you admit you were screwing it up, you would have to admit you're rotten Christians. That's all it comes down to--an insecurity and inability to admit yet another failure in following the will of your god.

And before you go there, yes, the climate has swung wildly on the earth before. Ice core samples going back millions of years prove it. What they also prove, though, is they do not happen in the span of a generation.

Don't be so general...all atheists aren't any one particular thing any more than all Christians are one particular thing.

Pull out the conservative and libertarian atheists in the US and the liberal atheists in Europe and you will find lots of atheists with doubts about global warming as a man made phenomenon, then & now.

Pull out the liberal and Green Christians in the US and the green & socialist Christians in europe and you will have a boat load of Christians would believe in global warming too.

i've got faith in the two God and technology myself yet I additionally understand that adult men make blunders and distinctive translations of the bible have been incorrect. many people interior the previous that believed in God have been frightened of technology and abused people who did no longer have faith their religious ideals have been amazing. we've people that have faith something suggested by using somebody that has a level too and save on with in basic terms as blindly with out learning for themselves. in basic terms as undesirable. tremendously while it comes out the evidence used replaced into written by using for a piece of writing in Mountain Climber mag. some people in basic terms decide for to have faith that guy is to blame. there has been as many as 5 ice a while interior the historical past of our planet. distinctive the the ice ultimately melted. We could no longer have led to that to take place then because we weren't here or there replaced into to few to influence it. The earth is going by using cycles of cooling and warming. that's effected by using each and everything from photograph voltaic interest and the weakening and strengthening of the magnetic fields that shield earth from that photograph voltaic interest. the undeniable fact that there is now fairly much six billion people on earth and all their kit alongside with automobiles and machines positively has some effect, notwithstanding that's maximum in all danger minimum decide for the certainty? Then study each and everything your self and double verify each and everything you examine and hear.

Well, a search on your text reveals this comes from Fox News. I wouldn't trust anything they put out. They are too embroiled in their own personal agendas to be considered a reliable source of information. Phil Jones, who made this claim, was sloppy and couldn't even provide evidence for his claim. He even flat out admits that he kept poor records and was disorganized - a poor excuse for someone looking to contradict years of research.

Instead of making arguments from authority, how about you cite some factual evidence instead. If he said global warming is false, then he certainly must have explained why, right?

Because they don't tend to believe in things that just sound good rather than what has proof.
