I started getting letters from him a couple of months ago, and at first it was amusing (ha ha, funny he wants me to send HIM money, to do GOD'S work) but now it's annoying, and I want the letters to stop coming. How do I get them to leave me alone? Do I have to call the police?

Your friends must have a sick sense of humor. A friend of mine filled out something online with my name and address and I got stuff from Jerry Falwell. I just wrote back and said I wasn't interested and please remove me from the mailing list. It worked.

Don't waste stamps on the envelopes Just enclose any garbage from the house enclosed seal and Popoff will have to pay the charge to have them delivered. Put no return address on it.

Do what I did when I got tired of receiving donation requests from Christian organizations (most of them legitimate).

I used the pre-paid envelope (no need to waste a stamp) and told them normally I would be happy to send them money, HOWEVER . . . and then list all the financial hardships I'd been going through.

I ended it by asking them for money, and quoted Luke 6:38 (give and it shall be given to you), adding that by giving to me God would increase the amount of donations for their organization (or something like that). I don't think I enclosed a self-addressed stamped envelope, but I did give them my phone number and told them I would be "eagerly awaiting their call" asking where they should sent the money.

Oh, I never mentioned any specific amount - just "whatever God has laid on your heart" to help me through my financial crisis.

The entire letter was respectful, apologetic for not being able to donate, and confident that God would use them to help a specific individual.

I think it took only two or three similar responses before they stopped sending requests.

Peter Popoff? Does he still sell magic miracle spring water?

Send him a check for a couple thousand dollars. Maybe he'll be satisfied and won't ask for more.
