Question:
Is the difference betwen the evening star and the morning star just a matter of time?
?

Here is some inSTRUMental for ya while you ponder : ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js93qxDlIzg

Historically speaking, the evening and morning star were thought to be two different stars.... Now, if this is referring to Venus, it is obvious to be One Planet seen at two different times.....

So, spiritually asking, what do we learn from this planet spiritually ?

Also, what is Jesus referring to here as both the "Bright" anf the "Morning Star" ?

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning (Orthrinos) star. Revelation 22:16

Interestingly, this word for Bright is λαμπρός (lampros)
- radiant;
- by analogy, limpid;
- figuratively, magnificent or sumptuous (in appearance);

and the word used for "Morning" is ὀρθρινός (orthrinos)
- relating to the dawn, i.e. matutinal (as an epithet of Venus, especially brilliant in the early day);

Etymology: from G3722; = ὄρθρος (orthros)
- dawn (as sun-rise, rising of light);
- by extension, morn;

Lastly, there is yet another mention of the "Morning Star" and the word used here is πρωϊνός (prōinos)
- pertaining to the dawn, i.e. matutinal;

Etymology: from G4404;

And I will give him the morning (Proinos) star.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Rev 2:28-29

So then.... does anyone have any thoughts pertaining to the two different words used to descrobe the Morning Star ?

("Orthrinos" and "Proinos") thanks much....

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: Genesis 1:14

Bonus Q: Is this reference to "Day Star" yet another mention of the same thing, using yet another word ?

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and THE DAY STAR ARISE in your hearts: 2Peter 1:19

this word is φωσφόρος (phōsphoros)
1.) light bringing, giving light
2.) the planet Venus, the morning star, day star
3.) metaph. Christ

Etymology: from G5457 and G5342

Shockingly...this very word is "lucifer" (light-bringer) in the latin....and is how this passage reads in the latin Vulgate bible...

It would appear that the enemy of our souls has been stealing names again in order to hide the truth and cause deception as usual : )

What are your thoughts dearly beloved.?... and please, brace yourself before you jump to conclusions : )

The name Lucifer originally denotes the planet Venus, emphasizing its brilliance. The Vulgate employs the word also for "the light of the morning" (Job 11:17), "the signs of the zodiac" (Job 38:32), and "the aurora" (Psalm 109:3). Metaphorically, the word is applied to the King of Babylon (Isaiah 14:12) as preeminent among the princes of his time; to the high priest Simon son of Onias (Ecclesiasticus 50:6), for his surpassing virtue, to the glory of heaven (Apocalypse 2:28), by reason of its excellency; finally to Jesus Christ himself (2 Peter 1:19; Apocalypse 22:16; the "Exultet" of Holy Saturday) the true light of our spiritual life.

The Syriac version and the version of Aquila derive the Hebrew noun helel from the verb yalal, "to lament"; St. Jerome agrees with them (In Isaiah 1.14), and makes Lucifer the name of the principal fallen angel who must lament the loss of his original glory bright as the morning star. In Christian tradition this meaning of Lucifer has prevailed; the Fathers maintain that Lucifer is not the proper name of the devil, but denotes only the state from which he has fallen (Petavius, De Angelis, III, iii, 4).

Beloved, has anyone ever told you that you have a beautiful mind ;-) Another great post! Why does John in the following verse say that the "true light now shineth"? "Again, a new commandment I

write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth." (1 John 2:8) and why/how did these "wise men" understand to look for a "star in the east" for the coming of the messiah? "Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea

in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him." (Matthew 2:1-2) What was the relation between our Lord and this star that appeared when He did? These men truly were wise ;-) Grace be with you brother! Love - D

what this means is that when god is understood for what he is, it is the most beautiful thing you can imagine because it is logical. it is like seeing the dawning of a new day and the world in a completely different light. "those who walked in darkness have seen a great light" this means that when people come into the world, god is brought across by most as very judgmental, when the truth is is that he attempts to judge as least as possible. when god is fully understood, you would be amazed at what is possible with him... (meaning a lot less suffering than people think) your own perception becomes reality, and suffering can't be properly understood unless you have suffered.

suffering is emotional/spiritual and i "think?" that all get a pretty much equal portion, it just takes different things for different people to suffer. an interesting question could be, is a "suppressed memory" possibly a memory that hasn't happened at all? i know for a fact that when i was a child i lied to myself so hard that my memory changed, and then changed back.(over an instance where i stole some money from my brother) i convinced myself that i had not, and later remembered that i had. (this is an incredibly deep/complex issue, but if it is possible for god to insert a memory to stop someone from going on the path they are going, and to punish someone for being overly judgmental, that would be pretty amazing as the instance would have never happened...)

just another insane thought:) (i am certainly not saying this is true, but at the same time it would be better than allowing someone to go through the actual experience? i was thinking about how often childhood sexual abuse is often only remembered later in life... it is strange, as most of my traumatizing experiences in life i remember the most clearly. they say it is possible that these memories are suppressed as a defense mechanism, which only makes me wonder why they come back, meaning it is better to forget even if something terrible has happened. i know i have memories of things that have happened to loved ones i would rather forget) either way, even if something bad has happened, i believe that part of the washing away of sins is the forgetting of these memories.

i used to feel guilty about listening to rock music, but music is enjoyable and not wrong, and even if a song makes a "spiritual" mistake, the wise man ignores the insult. this song in particular cries out for the desire to "wash this memory clean" meaning to forget the pain.

ps i know the above thought is not likely, but god i would prefer it.(referring to reverse false memories)

Morning and evening star describe 3 things. Venus, Jesus and Lucifer.

Edit: Morning star is Venus by day. Evening star is Venus by night.

You confuse me with the phrase "(protectors of the throne of Christ / God). " Rumor has it that God is all-powerful and all-knowing. If a Being has the knowledge that you're trying to sneak up on It, and the Power to crush you, why in Heaven (pun intended) would it need any sort of "protectors"??? I should warn you that those who believe that God IS all knowing and IS all powerful, may be highly insulted at your suggestion that He can't handle His problems without a lot of help. They might choose to burn you as a heretic.

Beware of trying to use Strong's concordance while attempting linguistic analyses: It is to build a house on shifting sand.
