From the Bible ONLY........ The Seventh Day

From Mans tradition........ The first Day

. WHY do Christians Worship on the First Day of the Week instead of the Seventh? PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS...

Only faith in Jesus and submission to HIS will can ever bring us into obedience to Him.

"By this we know that we love the children of God, when we Love GOD and Keep His Commandments."

"For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: And his commandments are NOT grievous." 1 John 5:1-3

God calls us to rest on the SEVENTH Day. Jesus worshiped on the seventh day, and the disciples did also.. I looked it up and the 1st day of the week it only mentioned 8 times in the new testament.

Actually study these today.

Matt 28:1 Mark 16:1,2 Mark 16:9 Luke 24:1

John 20:1. John 20:19. Acts 20:7. 1Cor 16:2

Acts 20:7 is the only recorded text where there was a religious meeting in the new testament. Paul preached ALL night and even unto the BREAK of day. This meeting began at SUNSET due to customs. And it ended around the next morning.

A. This is the only record of the disciples breaking bread on the first day

B. They broke bread EVERY day according to Acts 2:46

C. the account of the meeting says nothing about the Sabbath.

D. This was a SPECIAL meeting held because paul was leaving for a journey.

E. The meeting was mentioned by Luke due to the restoration of a young man that fell and was killed.

F. The meeting was a Saturday night.

1cor 16:1,2 mentions taking up a collection on the 1st day of the week but neither mentions Church or a meeting. This was not a sacred collection or even a public collection for that matter.

It is shown in Revelation 14:7 what kind of people are standing for God.. "Those who hold the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus."

Sabbath was there at the BEGINNING. Thousands of years before Jews were alive..

God blessed Four things..

Man, The Birds, The fish, And the Sabbath Day.

Jesus blessed the Sabbath day he HALLOWED it, and he SET IT APART for Holy use.

The Bible states "REMEMBER" the Sabbath in Exodus 20.. God knew we would forget..

The Sabbath was changed by the Roman emperor Constantine during the Dark ages around 321-362ad. It was changed to "honor the Venerable day of the sun" or "the SUN GOD"

"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill."

"For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle(crossing of a t dotting of an I) shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.".

The question now becomes, who authorized this change of te Sabbath?

This Question is best answered by the CATHOLIC DOCTRINAL CATECHISM 3rd Ed. which states this DIRECTLY

QUESTION: "Have you any other way of proving that the Church has power to institute festivals of precept?

ANSWER: HAD SHE NOT SUCH POWER, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her, she could not have SUBSTITUED the observance of Sunday, the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday, the Seventh Day, a change for which there is NO scriptural authority." Page 174..

Catholics even identify the CHANGING of the day of worship as a SIGN of CATHIOLIC AUTHORITY!

"The Catholic Church, . . . by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday."

Catholic Virginian Oct. 3, 1947, p. 9, art. "To Tell You the Truth."

God says will will worship on the Sabbath Day in Heaven. "For as the new Heavens and the new Earth, which I will make, shall remain before me saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain."

"And it shall come to pass that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD." (Isaiah 66:22,23)

Let us ALL remember the Sabbath day and keep it Holy.

God set it there at creation, and God states that we will ALSO come before his throne on the Sabbath Day in Heaven.

From sundown Friday to sundown Saturday is the TRUE Sabbath. It was changed by the Roman Catholic Church and no it does not please God that it was changed by man. God and only God can make changes to the Bible and to the Sabbath. In Bible times a day was measured by a 24-hour day from sundown to sundown. It was like that through the whole Bible. Old Testament AND New Testament. The scriptures that people use to prove that Jesus had changed the Sabbath have been grossly misunderstood because they were taken out of context and the sundown to sundown was not taken into consideration.

And many people say that the Saturday Sabbath is just for the Jews, BUT the Sabbath was made many years before the Jews came on the scene. At creation in six literal days God created the earth and man and on the seventh day He hallowed that day. He blessed that day and made it Holy. That was the first Sabbath. I mentioned this fact to an old friend of mine who was certain that Sunday was the new Sabbath and he had no response. It was a surprise to him.

Hello, Sunday is celebrated as the Sabbath because the early church fathers of the Roman Catholic Church changed the day of celebration of the Sabbath to Sunday - The Day of the Sun. Constantine - the real first Pope, and a Roman Emperor, was more interested in uniting the Roman empire politically by uniting all the religions of the time under one unified state religion, he chose Chrisitianity as the up and coming religion of the times. Just because you have the might to do something, does not mean you have the right to do something. Sun day is the ancient pagan day named for the pagan practice of Sun Worship, based in the astrological science of the planets. As Christianity is an offshoot of Judiaism, they both started with Saturday sabbaths. There is no biblical proof of the right to change the day officially. The Catholic church claims they had the right to change it, and that most other Christian denominations still use it is proof that they were justified and right for doing so. The Protestants just kind of inherited Sunday worship. The true Sabbath is Saturday, but the main issue is do you hold the Sabbath sacred and holy which ever day you celebrate? Jesus Christ himself, told us that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. In the times to come the true Sabbath will be reinstated. Until that time, Do what is right in your own heart, and allow others to do the same, so that it is not sin unto you. Reg

The Sabbath was never changed.

Hebrews 4:4-5, 8-11

4For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. 5And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest... 8For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9There remains therefore a rest to the people of God. 10For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.11Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

That rest is what we call the Sabbath.

There will not be any direct words from scriptures which would cause anyone to believe that Christ changed the Sabbath to the so called "Lord's Day" or Sunday. In fact, the Lord's Day in the Bible referred to Saturday as it is called in English. This is "purely a creation of the Roman Catholic Church" circa 364 AD. In fact, many of those accused of heresy in the history of the Church, and the Protestant movements and reformation kept the Sabbath according to the Holy Bible. They were tortured and killed as Constantine had given the Holy Roman Empire the authority over the civil authority.

In the Holy Bible, God directly instructed man to do many things. He gave prophecies which foretold of many things as well. Since the beginning of time as we know it, God gave man the Sabbath, which was a memorial for us to appreciate God, and His creation (Genesis2:1-3). A few thousand years later, he wrote the 10 Commandments on two stone tablets with his finger, and gave them to Moses to give to those people who follow God. The 10 commandments included the Sabbath. When Jesus Christ was on this planet, he observed the Sabbath as it was meant to be observed, by helping people, and communing with God the Father.

The Lord's day is Sunday, the day of the resurrection. Although the Lord's Day is numerically the first day of the week, it actually represents the eighth day, which is the day of new beginnings.

The only place that keeping the Sabbath is commanded is in a covenant that the New Testament calls obsolete. True, the New Testament does not explicitly say that the Sabbath is obsolete. Instead, it says much more—that the entire old covenant is obsolete. It says that Christians do not have to keep the law of Moses. It says a large category of law is no longer required, and it never tells Christians to keep the Sabbath.

In Col. 2:16-17, Paul says, "Therefore, do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ."

Saturday for both Jews and Christians [Fri PM-Sat PM]

EDIT: Matthew 5:17-18 (New King James Version)

17 "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

The Sunday Sabbath is a sham.

Exodus 20:8 Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.

Colossians 2:16 (King James Version)

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days.

It stands to reason that the author was talking about sabbath FESTIVAL days. It doesn't change the commandment. But, I'm not judging.

I think (not sure) that the Jewish Sabbath was Saturday. For believers now I believe it is whatever day you choose to give to the Lord

Col 2:16 says "Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ."

Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. The sabbath was never changed, it remains the sabbath. Christians have chosen to meet in fellowship on the first day of the week, the day of the week of Christ's resurrection.

It is sundown Friday to Sundown Saturday.

even though people think it has been changed, it has not.

The Catholic Church (THINKS) to change times and Laws. But man can not change Gods laws even if they say they have.

-If i made a statue and worshiped it instead of God, wouldn't that be idolatry?

-If i worshiped my money and made that the most important thing in my life instead of God, Would that be idolatry?

- IF I MADE A DIFFERENT DAY HOLY INSTEAD OF THE SABBATH (THE LORDS DAY, WHICH GOD BLESSED AND SANCTIFIED), AND WORSHIPED ON IT, WOULD THAT BE IDOLATRY????

Whether it's an item or a day it doesn't matter, it's the same if you worship it.

Sundown Friday evening to sundown Saturday evening is the Biblical Sabbath.

However, Christians are not bound to observe a sabbath. Jesus is our Sabbath rest (see Hebrews Chapter 4)

"Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ."

If we consider all the religions of the world every day of the week is or has been observed as a day of rest, Sabbath.

In the law handed down through Moses the Sabbath was and is Saturday and remains so until the law and the prophets, fulfilled in Christ, are fulfilled in you. For those who live under the law and do not enter the kingdom prepared from the foundation of the world the Sabbath will always remain, to the end of time, a mechanical observance on a set day.

Observance of Sunday grew as Christians gathered to worship and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the first day of the week.

The change came as the Christians no longer lived, as did the Jews, under the law of Moses but by the law of faith in Christ Jesus.

The important thing is the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. The required day of rest reflects what should be established daily in spirit in our hearts. There every day should be a day of rest which few Christians seem to enjoy but would rather exchange for an attempt to please God by observing times and seasons. Some demand Sunday in the same legal mind as those who demand Saturday. Very sad.

Does it please God that we changed the day? Well nobody has changed it. The problem is some teach that God is only pleased if Saturday is observed. Know that without faith it is impossible to please God. Without Saturday and other feasts and holy days and other such sacrifices God can do just fine for He looks upon the heart.

A day of rest is a command handed down for our privilege and not as a chore or for strict compliance. People for their own sake, not God's, should take a Sabbath. In that time they may perhaps understand that the life they are blessed with is not theirs to begin with. God is pleased to meet us in the kingdom he has established

As far as the health of your physical body having one day of full rest is for your benefit. It would please God if you observe a day of rest for the upkeep of this body of clay that he has chosen to dwell in. And if you know how to meet him there so much the better. The meeting and the experience is more important then the day. If you know how to meet the Lord on Sabbath ground you will soon find that every day is a Sabbath.

There are those Christians who insist that one must observe Sabbath on Saturday. If they don't it is sin for them; as having a weak conscience or following, with full knowledge, false teachers who seek to destroy our liberty as noted in the opening of Paul's letter to the foolish Galatians.

How shall we liken those who teach observance of religious activity as affairs of spirit; and demand the same of others? They are like a divorced man who does a calendar observance of his wedding day every week while missing visitations and ignoring support payments.

Saturday is the true sabbath, so decreed in the Old Testament. Christians today, celebrate Sunday as the sabbath, since, in the Old Testament, believers were under the Law. Since Jesus came, the Law has been rebuked and Christians now live under grace. We celebrate Sunday, because we believe that Christ was resurrected on Sunday. That is why Easter is always on a Sunday.

You are asking a loaded question; an "either - or" question that does not allow for any other possibilities.

Your question also implies there is a required day of rest for Christians under the new covenant. There is no such commandment, and you cannot take a command that God gave to one group via a covenant and apply it to another group who were not party to that covenant. This is commonly called substitution theology. It is not a valid form of evidence.

Depends on whether or not you believe Jesus was who He claimed to be. If no, then it's Saturday. If yes, then the old law was fulfilled and the new sabbath is Sunday. But honestly, it doesn't really matter what day one chooses, as long as one sets aside one day in seven to honor God, IMO.

You may say this each and every day:

"This is the day our loving Father God has made for all humans ! Let us be in spiritual joy and rejoice !" (and use your own words)

Each and every day is equally Holy -- if you love God and think and act Holy !

Those who believe that Sunday is the "Christian Sabbath" believe a lie.

Our present day named "Saturday" is the true Biblical Sabbath. What God has made Holy no man has the right to change! Please let no one deceive you on this important topic! Regardless of what the others The practical lesson of the Bible is that even science has shown that man has a biological clock that needs one day of rest in 7. This is an innate part of the Creator's design of humanity. He created us with a need for a relationship with Him and He created and sanctified one day on which we are to set aside all our Earthly pursuits and focus on Him. The importance of this one day is profound. It is no less than the sign that identifies those who are truly learning to obey the Almighty Creator God. It is not the only sign, but it is a very major one. The 4th Commandment is a reflection back to Creation when the very first thing God made holy was the SABBATH. Thus the Sabbath pre-existed the Sinai Covenant! Read Genesis. Read Matthew 5:17-19, what is Christ talking about? Matthew 5:17-19 is in there for our benefit. This is the Messiah, the Savior of the world talking. He did not intend for a single Law of God to be rescinded by His sacrifice for those who broke that Law.

Almost all "Christian" churches agree that the 10 Commandments are valid........except for the 4th. Few realize that the are saying above, Sunday is not the Christian Sabbath. There is absolutely no Biblical justification for Sunday being a day of worship. Sunday was taken from paganism. Sunday worship was introduced by the apostate church (Catholic) of Rome under the rulership of the Roman Emperor Constantine. Constantine was a worshiper of Mithras the Sun God and never repented of it. All who worship on Sunday are sharing in the worship of this false god. Deuteronomy 12:30-31.

All this can be easily proven by an internet search of articles with the above names and topics.

The 4th Commandment reads:

Exodus 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shall you labor, and do all your work: 10 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: why the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.”

The Sabbath is clearly defined in this Commandment as having predated the Sinai Covenant and is thus binding on all mankind!

One big thing all those opposed to keeping the original Biblical Sabbath Holy need to keep in mind is 1 John 2:4, go read it. Whether or not you are interested in obeying God boils down to this one verse: “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”

Let's be clear about something else, the resurrection was NOT on a Sunday. The crucifixion was NOT on a Friday. This is totally unscriptural. There is a link below to a full article for all who wish to learn the Truth. The idea that the resurrection was on a Sunday is totally false and stems from a lack of knowledge of the Biblical Holy Days, which was suppressed by the Catholic church. Read the Passion story in the Gospels, there were TWO Sabbaths that week. Why?

http://www.tomorrowsworld.org/cgi-bin/tw/tw-mag.cgi?category=Magazine29&item=1104248897

Now, Hebrews 4, read it carefully, it mentions the 7th day, not the first day, as the sanctified day of rest. Please look at your calendar and see which day is which. All other deceptions aside, the fact that the 7th day is mentioned is proof that the weekly Sabbath is what God intended us to understand and keep. The "Old" Testament is full of Gods displeasure over the Israelite's failures to obey His Torah, including the Sabbath. And, please notice something interesting about verse 8 in different translations:

Heb 4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. (AV)

Heb 4:8 (AKJV) For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

Heb 4:8 (BBE) For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have said anything about another day.

Heb 4:8 (YLT) for if Joshua had given them rest, He would not concerning another day have spoken after these things;

Heb 4:8 (Darby) For if Jesus had brought them into rest, he would not have spoken afterwards about another day.

Heb 4:8 (ASV) For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterward of another day.

Why the difference between "Jesus" and Joshua"? It is because the real English transliteration of the name of the Savior is Joshua from His name "Yashua". So, Hebrews is saying, basically, that Yashua (Jesus) did not give the millennial Sabbath rest as some people claim, and as verse 9 states, the Sabbath is still to be kept by the people of God. Please pay particular attention to verse 11 also.

Why is the Law important? Romans 3:20, 7:7, and others

What is sin? 1John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. What happens to sinners? Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death.... Because we are under grace, and remember that the above verses define sin and the penalty for it, are we free to do as we wish? Romans 6:15

What is the sign of the True Church, the Elect, at the end of the age?

Revelations 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Lets keep it simple, forget for a moment that there are approximately 613 Commandments in the Torah and that Yashua says that the least of them has not passed away {Again, read Matthew 5:17-19 and really think about what is being said}, there still remains the 10. Let’s suppose (fallaciously) that all that there are, are the 10. Are Christians required to keep them? Please study the following verses. Will you take the plain word of the Apostles of the Christ and the Christ Himself over the false teachings of your churches?

Rev 22:14, Rev 12:17, 1 John 5:2-3, 1Jo 2:3-4, 1 John 3:4, 1 Corinthians 7:19, John 15:10, Mark 7:7, Matthew 5:19.

Again, the Sabbath was the first thing God created to be Holy. What God has made Holy, no man has the right to change. It was Holy before Sinai, it was made for man when man was made {Mark 2:27, and others)

You really owe it to yourselves to study the following links before rejecting the True Sabbath any longer.

For a study on how Catholic doctrine came to be follow this link:

http://www.biblestudy.org/bibleref/holy-...

The Sinai Covenant restating that Law had no effect on something that existed from creation. God says He made that day Holy, not some other day, and if God has made something holy then you cannot void it by deceptions and smooth lies. There are those who teach "The Sabbath of Creation had no end"....horse pucky......Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.....now, where does it say here that the 7th day never ended? It make absolutely no sense based on the definition of "days" given in the preceding account of the creation. Did God somehow suddenly change the way He was counting?

http://www.cbcg.org/true_sabbath.htm

http://www.cbcg.org/franklin/romes_challenge.pdf

Not one Sabbatarian is going to claim that there is only one day on which you can worship the Creator God, what we ARE saying is that there is one day, set aside by the Creator at creation, on which HE commands you to set aside for worship. As the scripture says, He hallowed it and made it holy. That being so, folks that reject the Sabbath really have no Biblical basis for their beliefs. The clear thrust of the New Testament scriptures is that the Church of God will be a commandment keeping Church. No ands, ifs, or buts. The clear scriptures are quoted above and lawbreakers have no real answer for them other than rhetorical arguments and word games. Will you believe them or the Bible?

Here is a section of scripture for the Jewish responders and those who say the Law was only for Israelites to consider, showing that the Sabbath and the Covenant was not just for the Israelites alone, please read Romans 11 too, as Paul expounds on this principle.

Isaiah 56:1 Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. 2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil. 3 Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree. 4 For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my Sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; 5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.

6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; 7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices
