Question for Muslims, about prayer?

Some time ago, I asked a question about Muslims' prayers (how often you guys pray, and what you say when you pray). Now I'm following up on it.

Just to clarify first, this IS a real question, it is NOT my intention to insult anyone, I really DO want an answer, and I'm NOT attacking you. Now that that's clear, here's my question:

So you guys pray five times a day, and you have a certain prayer that corresponds to that time of day, right? Well, what I'd like to know is, how often do you pray outside of that? And do you ever just communicate with Allah? And if you DO just communicate with Allah, what kinds of things might drive you to pray? How might you speak with Allah?

Just curious.

Yes. The Salats are said 5 times a day.. that is the obligatory prayer (what you HAVE to do), anything outside of that is "extra." You can communicate with Allah as often as you like for any particular reason.

well the 5 times praying a day aren't just prayers for oneself. All of the 5 prayers are offered to worship Allah. In each of the 5 prayers, we praise Allah and pray for the ppl of Abrahim and Muhammad (thats part of it). After the prayers, we pray for ourselves.

Outside of these 5 prayers, everything we do is associated with Allah. For example, if we meet someone, we say Asalam-u-alaikum wa rehmatullahi wabarakatu meaning may the peace and blessings of Allah be on u....thats a form of worship. We also say inshallah before doing or saying anything meaning 'if god wills'...thats a form or prayer

Theres a lot more to it thn just this but i believe this will do for now :)

PS: there are other prayers that u can offer other thn the specified 5 times so its up to the person how devout he is to Allah

why would you think you are offending anyone by your questions they are normal questions :)

how often do you pray outside of that?

you have to pray 5 times a day anything more is up to you, you will be rewarded of course, and there are other types of prayer such as Friday prayer, Eid prayer (our holiday), prayer for the rain.....etc

do you ever just communicate with Allah?

of course you can worship and communicate with god in a lot of different ways.

And if you DO just communicate with Allah, what kinds of things might drive you to pray? things that might drive me to pray... if i want some calm quite time, if i want to get closer to god, if i was sad and wanted too feel better.

How might you speak with Allah?

i am not sure what you mean by this question if you can elaborate a little?

5 times a day.

5 prayers are MANDATORY.

People from Islam can pray whenever they feel like it after that but just not like the whole bowing stuff. They can say a prayer in their head. There is actually lots of small prayers to do stuff: like before eating or before sleeping or before doing whatever. Some you have to say some it doesnt really matter. I personally talk to Allah by saying English. Like a friend. Like:

OMFG IM GONNA FAIL THIS TEST!! HEEEEELP!!

and then i either fail it or ace it

After we pray each pray we have a time where we talk to Allah on our own. I talk to him about a good half an hour to a hour after i have done the main pary for him. We do a main pray five times a day because we praise his glory and for creations hes made on earth, so the pray is for him only. Then after we have time to pray for ourselves and others, we ask him to forgive our sins, bless others(friends, family) and you can talk to him about anything. After that you say Allahu Akbar(God Is Great), and you are finished.

I pray everytime before i eat, sleep, when something good or bad has happened to me, before i travel,,,

Things that drive me to pray is the cruel world we live in today, i cant stand what i see on tv so i read my Quarn or pray.

I hope i have helped

Just like Sahaba said, the 5 daily prayers are offered to worship God.

I pray to God if I'm making a very important decision I just talk to him Directly and ask him to help me. A Muslim's life is God centered from when you wake up to when you go to bed we mention Allaah's name many many times during the day.

Everything we do we are supposed say Bismallahi rahmane raheem...Which means in the name of God most mercy full most gracious.

We can communicate to God 24/7 anytime of the day we need to. We also say InshaAllaah(if God wills when we are talking about something in the future...For example I have to go to work Tomorrow InshaAllaah:)

and your questions are sincere and nicely put. so do not worry about offending us please.
