I'm almost on the same page as you -- I wholeheartedly believe that we should live together in peace. I just think that there SHOULD be Palestinians and Jews -- we should be proud of our heritage and religion -- but those two groups should be able to live together. Abraham IS our Father, and we never seem to remember this. I'm Jewish, and my best friend is Muslim and pro-Palestinian. We agree that the conflict between our religions is stupid and meaningless. It's only because one group doesn't know enough about the other. When Amina (my BFF) and I learned about each other's faiths, we were amazed at how similar they are and how blind some people can be.

I think Murad answered you honestly. I think I would rather meet him with a sword than my bible. So superior. Who but a pagan would make such a claim. God is a respecter of no man and puts none above the other. There is nothing special about the Muslim except his imaginary plan to rule the world. I'm a Christian and I'll take God's word just as it is. He said what was going to be and why and even how in his best selling book the Bible . The Hebrew Tanahk will get you started.

I have to agree with Kosherninja. Israel has done everything short of ceding the rights that Jews have of self-rule or even of life for peace with the Arabs. They have offered the Palestinians a state on multiple occasions, accompanied with concessions of territories that a. have deep meaning to Jews and b. they won fairly, in defensive wars and c. were populated mainly BY Jews until aparteid Jordan ethnically cleansed every Jew in her territories, and have no moral or ethical obligation to cede back to a future Palestinian State.

It is the Palestinians who have torn up the peace deals---they have rejected peace deals that have been so generous that even a Saudi Prince---no friend to Israel---called their rejection of the peace a 'great sin.' When Israel granted Gaza the right to democratic self-rule, the first thing they did was elect war-mongers in Hamas, who were showering Israeli cities with rockets within weeks. And, yet, Israel waited 8 years before fighting to defend her own civilians. It was the Arab countries who responded to Israel's endeavors to give them back the territories they lost when they invaded her, spewing genocidal exhortations to their troops all the while, with the Three No's of Khartoum (the first of which? NO PEACE with Israel)---the declaration that they don't recognize Jewish rights to self-rule. In a few years time, they would invade again, on the holiest day of the Jewish year, and in the holiest month of the Muslim one.

So, yes, honestly, I wish the fighting would stop. If the Arabs stopped attacking, it would stop. If the Arabs stopped circulating lies about Israelis and telling their children that it is better to die a martyr slaughtering Jews than to live a happy, fulfilled, and peaceful life (eg, Tomorrow's Pioneers, and other 'childrens shows' that Hamas sponsers), the fighting would stop. I wish this would happen---Palestinian children have every right not to be raised indoctrinated into a massive culture of death. And it is testimony of the will that many Arabs have to live in peace that, even though they were brainwashed into that kind of hostile mindset, many have rejected the culture of death militant groups have tried to impose on them to make endeavors for peace. However, I do support the rights of Israelis to fight to defend themselves. Jews are sick of being slaughtered so that other groups can feel that they are maintaining their own peace---after a millenia of this, it is time for the world to find another sacrificial lamb.

Er, reality calling?

Israelis have been working towards peace for six decades. It was the Arab world that - publicly - stated it would 'never' recognise the RIGHT of Jews to live ANYWHERE in the Middle East.

Prior to modern Israel, it was the ARABS that attacked and slaughtered Palestinian Jews in Hebron and Jerusalem.

So if you want to feel shame - feel shame on behalf of the Arab states which are wealthy and huge and yet which still feel the need to destroy the one, the ONLY tiny Jewish nation on this planet.

It is a mess, I agree. The Arabs in Gaza also enjoy fighting one another, which makes them look stupid to the rest of us. Almost no one sympathises with those who fight one another when there is a common enemy out there (Israelis).

Their main difference is religious belief, but admitting so may mean that God should be more involved with religious beliefs.

reword it as ''Are there any Jews or Arabs here who wish we could live together peacefully?"

If you ever visit Israel you'll find the society is a nice example of coexistence. There are well over a million Israeli Arab citizens, most of whom are Muslims, who live side by side with Jews harmoniously. I was operated in Israel by a staff that was half Muslim and it was amazing.

The funny thing is than when you picture the conflict with the Palestinians you always dismiss the Israeli Arab population. Fact is that both Bedouins in the south and Arabs in the north of Israel (Most of the Israeli Arab population is settled around Acre, Haifa and Afula, up north) are threatened by rockets, and some have even been killed. Many were also killed during the second intifada, and their names could easily be distinguished from the Jewish names on victim lists.

In contradiction to what most people believe, Jewish life under Islam was never golden, akthough better than life under Christianity at times. But the modern age and democracy now allow such coexictance, and I believe Israel makes the finest example.

God isn't making us do anything. We have the choice of free will and because there is still sin in the world (such as non-believers in Christ), then there is no room for peace.

They did live together peacefully for hundreds of years.
