Believers, If God NEVER did another thing for you, would you still serve him just the same?

We have turned into such a selfish society, that yesterday as I was just spending time w/ God, He asked me a question... And I really had to think about it... have we (as a whole) lost focus on what we should be focusing on? Are we in it just for ourselves or are we really in it because we really desperately long for a more intamate relationship with God.?...

...So ask yourself,

If God NEVER answered another prayer you prayed?

If God NEVER performed another miracle you needed?

If you only got the relationship, without ANY of the benifits...

Would you still serve him w/ the same heart and passion?

Honestly, think about it... Are you in it (this lifestyle and belief system) for the benifits? Or are you solely concerned with the relationship? Honeslty, which is more important to you?

Can you truly say, "If God NEVER EVER EVER did another thing for me, I would still love and serve him just the same."?

My friend I serve and love God because of who he is. However, many people are seeking the provision instead of the Provider and hence their (or our) motives are wrong. This sort of teaching or doctrine has come about by many Christian leaders who teach that we MUST have this and that and so on.



To comment on the selfishness of people you are absolutely right. The human nature since the fall of man has always been about himself (me, myself and I). However that is why Christ came and now we have the Holy Spirit to help us to be like Christ who was not selfish but gave Himself for others to please the Father.



So as a believer I bless God for the benefits that come from being His child (Ps 68:19), however, I must not get distracted but continue to seek and pursue God relentlessly with or without the goodies.



To answer your last statement, I am not going to say anything because I am a recipient of salvation through Jesus Christ. So I really do not know but I would like to say YES! Because I love HIM.

You are talking about a desert here. We go through times in the wilderness when we have been luke warm Christians. It is those who press into God who will come out of the wilderness. Most never do.



I spent 14 years in the wilderness. It was a miserable thing. Then one day I heard the Lord's voice. He said to me, "Matthew 6:33: You know this stuff. Why aren't you doing it?"



At that time (about 6 1/2 years ago) I started to press in. I came out of my desert, and am now seeing signs miracles and wonders. Broken arm's healed, hernias healed, cancers healed...

His beauty, His love, His wisdom, His insight, His joy, His presence, all his transcendent attributes.

Why trade the Everlasting Beauty for an earthly beauty that must die?

God is the reward. What happens in our day to day life is rather unimportant in the bigger picture.

How would you know if God did anything for you? It's strange but everything that has happened to me has been the result of hard work, random chance or physical reality. I have seen no evidence of any divine intervention in my life.

Yes, I would. The reason I can honestly say YES is that God has already done enough. He forgave my sins, He loved me first, He created us, He gave His Son. That's enough for me. All that other stuff is just added bonuses.
