Like many tales in the bible the Noah story is a myth borrowed and adapted over time to teach spiritual lessons. There are many flood myths and many claim it was world wide. Floods are common occurrences and are their devastation and destruction is easily understood. When you have no idea the extent of the world and all you know is flooded, it becomes a world wide flood to you. It also adds an important element to the myth's lesson or 'truth' being taught.

The oceans were smaller than than they are now.

During the 6 days of creation, God separated some of the water and put it above, which meant that there was an ice water canopy over our atmosphere (we know from air samples taken from amber that there use to be about 2 times the air pressure and oxygen level than we have today. Also, this water would filter out the harmful ray in the sun light. This would make for a very healthy living conditions (hyperbolic chambers are used today to cure and heal many things) and that is why people use to live for over 900 years before the flood). During the canopy broke and fell down mostly around the magnetic poles (ice at -300F acts magnetically. This is why the "ice age" is center around the magnetic poles and not the axis poles of the earth). This ice has been melting ever since (and as it gets smaller, it will melt faster) and if it all melts it will raise the oceans by another 30 feet, but before much of the ice melted and raised the ocean level, the animals had time to move around the world by land bridges (look at a topographical map and notice that there are many place where the ocean is shallow, even all the way to Hawaii).

Good question and, as a Creationist, I will endeavour to give a serious answer. Firstly you have a slight inaccuracy since Mt Ararat, where Noah's Ark landed, and still is, is in modern day Turkey and not in Iran. I am of that school of Creationist thought, though I may become persuaded otherwise, that believes that Noah's Flood is only responsible for sediments between the Cambrian and the Carboniferous. So, considering that all the continents were at the time immediately after Noah joined into the super continent of Pangea, the Kangaroos could go hoppity hoppity hop all the way to Australia and Antarctica and South America and North America. After the Continental brak-up, the fossil record shows that Marsupials soon became extinct in North America, though the North American Opposum came back into N America after the Americas were joined together once again. Marsupials florished in South America and were the dominant mammals until the bridge from N America led to large numbers of placental mammals heading south and the extinction of MOST (but not all) South American marsupial species. That left Antarctica and Australia which had been joined onto S America for some time, there had been free movement of marsupials between the three continents. When they divided, Australia remained largely free of placental mammals which enabled a rich diversity of marsupial fauna to remain whilst Antarctican marsupials were frozen at the start of the Ice Age. Starpenta - why should my cheeks be red? Serious study of evolution and radio-metric dating of rocks show that both are full of problems and are not based on accurate science!! As for carnivorous animals, you obviously do not know the Bible - it clearly states that there were no meat eating animals until AFTER the Flood. Yes, both lions and tyrannosaurus, prior to flood (and probably for a little time after it) ate a vegetarian diet.

These are facts you can easily look up at any library. There was a world wide flood according to science and there was a large ship exactly as described in the bible found high a top Mount Ararat in Turkey which is were the bible says it rested. The heavily muslim country will not let, however, scientists go and research any further. This was not just a story but fact. Further more there was a genealogical study done by scientists in Europe several years ago that concluded that around the same time as this flood there was a bottle necking of the human species. This means as far as they had the ability to trace they found less the 6000 people on the entire planet but did not have the technology to go further back. They concluded that the biblical account of this massive flood was more fact than fiction to there surprise.

The Ark hit an iceberg in the Southern Hemisphere near the end of the 40 days, and the whole Marcupial section was dumped into the water. Luckily they fell out near Mount Kosciuszko and only had to tread water for 2-3 days before staring life over in the Great Dividing range.

Edit---

Creation, when was the last time you saw a Kangaroo build a boat.

Noah was only the keeper of the ark. Animals must have had their own ideas about where they'd be happier. I understand that land was once, one piece and if you drained the oceans you could see how it all connected. Then the volcanoes and earthquakes and tsunamis changed it even more though I still don't see why Australia's lifeforms are unique in the world. Could be alien life forms but so could each of us be. I don't truly know...Do you?

Noah's flood was a replica of the flood story in Gilgamesh. It's just another flood myth.

actually, if you go back and check genesis, during the days of Peleg, the earth was divided. This was after the flood.

all the land was joined together at one point but many animals developed seperatly in australiea after the seperaton.

How did Noah get polar bears and penguins?

It's just silly.

I'd like to know how the kangaroos hopped from Australia to get onto the ark. Thanks for the laugh.

LOL.

The story is a myth, a fairy tale. Nothing more.

Pay it no mind. Only fools think it really happened.
