So the question is basically if someone has a different religious belief then you, are they living an athentic life?

To answer this question we would want to agree on what an "athentic life is".

I would say for example, if someone believes they are on Mars while they are living on Earth, that this is a false belief, and the person is not living "athentically".

This is an extreme example to illustrate the point, believing in something that is not real.

"Authenticity" is not a form of action, it is not a verb; it is a noun. Authenticity is not a way of living, it is a way of being.

Someone can BE "authentic" or "inauthentic", but they don't live "authentically", as a way of describing something.

Authenticity is not a description. It is DECLARATIVE. Since it is declarative and not definitive, it is necessarily CREATIVE. Now, it's true a person can live "creatively" and still not be authentic. For example, a student can find creative ways to earn money to pay for private schooling, but if that student is pretending to have more money than he or she actually has, then that's being INAUTHENTIC.

I would think that athentic is close to authentic but missing u.

;-) just kidding... you know I am a bit of a rib tickler....

Anyway, I believe that all life is valuable and valid and that if one human being wants to adopt a belief in eternal torture, it might be immoral to me, but they have the right to believe that way as long as they don't interfere with my personal rights to living my own way.

Life doesn't require perfect philosophy for value or authenticity, it simply exists, whether the person is convinced they are living on the moon or can handle poisonous snakes or not.

Yes, maybe I would, but I am glad of what is all around me and of the people I love and live with. My life perhaps it is not the best, the richest, the most elegant ... from a wordly and material point of view, nevertheless I love my parents, my cats, dog, hens and cook, I adore my husband, my son, friends, flowers, trees, even the wormes within the earth ... and I am content, even when I know that the adective 'my' is only an illusion. I cannot help o hink that differently could mean losing my dear ones. So probably I will let the chance to someone else

do you mean authentic? As in "real?"

I think they are. I mean some people just can't deal with day to day life without a crutch. Be it drugs, alcohol, religion, gangbanging, whatever. Some people NEED 'something else.'

But that does not mean that their own lives, including the chosen crutch isn't real or meaningful, or 'authentic.' Of course it is.

I think living authentically means that you are living the way you think it is. The person on Mars will live like he was on Mars, even if he's wrong he's living the way he thinks he should.

Are you trying to say "authentic?"

Sure, everyone's lives are their own. It may not be rational or reasonable to *me,* but their opinions obviously mean something to them.
