Question:
What is the essence of your religion?
2006-11-18 05:05:15 UTC
What is the essence or root of your religion? What drives you to follow that religion? In the end what do you hope to achieve?
Is it selfish? Or can you help the world with your actions? Is it because you feel you have to or because it is expected, or was it your own choice?

Just wanna see where everyone stands on this. Theists or atheists.

Judaism: We are a community working together for peace on earth and justice for all -- Jew, Christian, and Muslim alike! There are no beliefs to be imposed on others; no eternal punishment for anyone other than the most wicked of the wicked.

The essence of the Baha'i Faith is that God is one, mankind is one, and religion is one.

I follow the teachings and Laws of the Baha'i Faith because I believe its Holy Writings are the Word of God for this age.

In the end, I hope to bring some benefit to every human path I cross. In this way civilization will be uplifted. In this way The Most Great Peace will be realized.

I serve the Cause of God because I want to please God, so I guess you could say that is selfish.

I don't think this is an "or" question. If I serve humanity because I want to, is that selfish?

I do these things of my own free will.

For God [The Father] "SO" Loved the world that He gave [Jesus the second member of The Godhead gave Himself] that whosoever [you] should BE-LIVE in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. I am A Seventh Day Adventist Christian and the essence of any religon is LOVE, IF I love Him keep His commandments and IF in A world where there is A total death rate IF I love my exit [Jesus] enough to obey Him I will love Him enough to be there IF not I and YOU won't that is really the way that it is. There is not such thing as a atheists, of all the knowledge that is out there that you DO NOT know even know where that you can go look for it, can God live there, okay IF your honest you just admitted God lives, learn more free bible lessons www.itiswritten.com God bless

i recently had a religious experience where i spoke with god and Jesus which is the root of my religion

what drives me is the vision of the future i was shown(extremely frightening) another tragedy to be carried out in Christ's name on a global scale a combination of the forced worship of Christ and genocide

i hope to prevent it but its highly unlikely because most Christians are so closed minded

i feel i have to try to warn the people but its so frustrating when they refuse to listen

the only name i can think to call my religion is realism

before this i was an agnostic-atheist

I'll let you decide whether or not its selfish

Mine is based on Love.

It tells me that everyone is a beloved part of God. It has taught me that no response other than a loving response is ever an appropriate response to any situation.

At times I forget, and it is even a struggle at times to try to find a way to love in certain situations. Still, I now know that there is no other logical way of responding.

I can't tell you how learning this has changed my life.

My beliefs are not actually a part of any organized religion. I follow the teachings Of Jesus from a book called the course in miracles.

I find it infinitely preferable to the the conflicting message of the bible with its love your enemy, and eye for an eye. types of conflicting messages.

Fellowship Baptist which is explained at the following sites.

I believe it is the most Biblically correct in the area in which I live.

To dwell forever in the presence of God which is Heaven.

That is not only my goal for myself but I also want everyone else to be able to dwell in God's presence forever.

My actions that help the world are through World Vision and Campus Crusade for Christ. The way I help is my own choice.

I believe thre are 2 ways to live.

I'm kinda of an atheist/agnostic who is partial to Pagan beliefs. Why I follow it? Not entirely sure. I guess because it makes me very aware of both my light and dark side of my inner self, without blocking my need to improve my personal growth of my mind and spirit. Organized faith slowed and blinded me a lot over the years. I couldn't find myself within it. I suppose what I do now, is for my own personal benefit. I was born with this type of personality. It would be extremely unfair to press my ideals on someone who doesn't believe in it.

The essence of religion, is for us believers to be able to follow it without question and without asking for proof, that in the end would make us a human being though not perfect but sensitive enough not to hurt or harm all the things around us.

Because they:

OBEY ALL LAWS, even inconvenient ones, like speed limits when late for work;

PAYING TAXES, rather than claiming religious exemption;

KEEPING THEIR WORD, like to the IRS on not promoting politics in church;

TEACH YOUTHs to wait until marriage instead of having sex for fun and just using protection;

TREAT YOUTHs with respect, and not just a "do what you're told!" attitude;

TEACH YOUTHS the whole Bible, and not just Bible stories, right along side parents;

DON'T LET INDIVIDUALS get lost in the crowd of an oversize church;

TEACH EVERYONE the same, making it easier to start a new congregation, with a set of elders;

MAKE sure every member is evacuated in a natural disaster, such as in Katrina, and not just the good contributors;

BUILD CHURCHES that compliment neighborhoods, lacking large and expensive decorative features;

Firstly, i'm a Human being. I was born Hindu, lives sanatan dharma, the eternal religion or hinduism as known today. its a way of life, have multiple scriptures, god & godesses in every form that can seen in nature.

we follow the live and let live policy. everyt human being has the right to live and let the other also live. we hindus have no concept of just a single god who send a scripture and so on. every hindu lives the oneness of god, not a single god. for a hindu god is everything. there is no creation. god manifested as everything. manifestations keep evolving from one form to another. hence hindus trust science more than any other religions. knowledge or science is one of the basic part of religious studies in hinduism.

whatever ones faith, if it makes him a good that is enough. he is a man of religion.

all ways lead to god; good or bad person, all reach god. but that does not mean you can be bad and go unpunished. the punishment is in this life itself. the bad deed itself is your punishment.

there any many, i remembered these basic ones. may be i will can write a book on this, someday that dream will be realised.

I deeply believed God had created me by air, water, fire and earth. I am rather so grateful

for God's benevolence for this gifted life. It is rather misfortune for those who didn't realize

this fact. I was so thankful that God had opened my heart to see the truth, I have nothing to hope in return from God, because I feel I am so helpless without God's assistance in providing daily necessities to keep me alive, the only thing i hope to achieve is to repay God's benevolence by faithfully devoting myself in my prayers and obey all the commands, hoping that one day God will love me as I always do. God will always accept those with sincerity or at your own free will.

The intention of God's religion is to unite human

as one, provided everybody believe with sincerity. Unity is strength, but it is quite impossible.

You just asked SIX questions. I'll answer one. I CAN help the world, ONE PERSON AT A TIME. In my personal life, that is exactly what I do. Love others, encourage others, let them know how valuable they are when they have a low opinion of themselves, and help those in need with anything they need help WITH. I KNOW I'm making a difference -- ONE PERSON AT A TIME.

Karl Marx continues to be commemorated even nonetheless socialism is seen a failure in accordance to Marx, faith is an expression of cloth realities and financial injustice. subsequently, issues in faith are ultimately issues in society. faith isn't the disease, yet basically a symptom. it somewhat is utilized by potential of oppressors to make human beings sense extra useful with regards to the misery they adventure through being adverse and exploited. it somewhat is the inspiration of his remark that faith is the “opium of the plenty” - yet as shall see, his techniques are plenty extra complicated than in many circumstances portrayed.

the belief that we ate put on this plane of existence to help our fellow man by gaining as much wisdom and knowledge as possible then teaching what we have learned to others. each individual must follow their own path back to GOD as there are many paths and ways to get to one's destination for GOD is to big to be in only one place.

i was born as a hindu. I grew up as one but it had no meaning to me. I searched and was convinced Christ was the one for me ( may be i should say it was Christ who found me ) . My conversion and my belief in Christ was of my own choice .
