Italy Leads EU Move to Protect Christians
by Teresa Neumann : Mar 8, 2010 : ASSIST News

(Washington, DC)—The European Union (EU) has established a working group to protect persecuted Christians and prepare a manual for embassies of member states regarding the treatment of persecuted Christian minorities.

According to International Christian Concern (ICC), Italy's Foreign Minister, Franco Frattini, in a recent interview with the Italian daily newspaper Avvenire said, "We could promote a group of like-minded countries who take to heart the right of Christians to profess their faith anywhere in the world. …You see, Christians have never had a political group offering them strong support through their governments."

ICC reported that the Foreign Minister also stated that his country will hold an international conference on religious freedom this year and will soon introduce a resolution at the United Nations General Assembly regarding the rights of Christians.

ICC also says Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world, with more than 300 million Christians living in countries where they are persecuted simply because of their faith.

According to ICC, Muslim countries are the leading persecutors of Christians followed by communist countries. Hindu majority countries such as India also severely persecute Christian minorities.

ICC's president, Jeff King, said, "We welcome the move by the European Union to protect Christian minorities that face persecution. Christians are facing increasing persecution mainly in Muslim countries.

"We urge the international community to join Italy's effort in promoting religious freedom and protecting Christians from persecution in Muslim and other Christian persecuting countries."

Hope so, but preaching Gospel and persecution seems

to go somewhat together, there are some persecutions

that are more intense than others, however, and so my

answer to this Q is

HOPEFULLY SO

thanks God!!!!

The abominations need to be quelled - and I am so

grateful that the obvious ones are getting attended to.

But I wonder,

when will Christians stop persecuting

Christians who don't believe EXACTLY

or speak EXACTLY the way they do???

How does one Christian know what God

has commissioned in another Christian?

Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well:

"..Yet a time is coming and is now come when

true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth,

for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

God is spirit and his worshipers must worship in

spirit and in truth." [NIV Bible] [John 4:1-26]

He sent her back to her land

to live the Truth she had just allowed her eyes to

be opened to and her ears to hear rightly...

and this is even more reason why I FERVENTLY PRAY

that promoting religious freedom and protecting Christians

from persecution in Muslim and other Christian-persecuting

countries will be so.

Then we can tackle the larger issue of our own brothers

and sisters ceasing and desisting from persecution from

within, which is one of the biggest issues facing Christians

today, and it's so subtle, it's mostly missed....just my

tiny grain of sand of opinion in a beach of opinions....

thanks for the GREAT Q :)

Not with the Wt. Your logic is off, totally. You quote the scripture about the new covenant which only those in Christ have been entered into. There are a lot of non-Christians out there. Can you also really say that what Jeremiah says has come true in regard to most people who call themselves Christian? I think not. Very few people know their Bible in ways that make it unnecessary to teach them so that the law of God is imprinted on their hearts in ways that make them never deviate from it! That day of that scripture may only refer to some very special individuals who truly know their God and his law in all its details. ^^ Paul: If you know Paul, then you would know he told us this (1 Cor 9:16) " 16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! " Paul here told us that we have an undeniable obligation to preach! There is no timing, to conclusion given here. What more, Isaiah and Revelation tells us how long: Isaiah 6:8-12 "8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. 9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. . . . 11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate, " And in Revelation, what are we told ? That Satan will stop the ones who have the work of bearing witness to Jesus. These shall be put in prison and be killed by Satan -- thus it is obvious how long these are going to preach, isn't it? They have to preach until Satan stops them. The gospel should be spread by all who profess to be Christian. There are various ways of doing it. But, it has to be done until Armageddon or until Satan stops it.

It is unlikely that persecution of Christians will end. The evil Anti Christian agenda is getting stronger and gaining ground, as the end of the evil system approaches. It is very evident here on Yahoo Answers, where every Atheist hates Christians and never criticize any other religion. That is how we know we have the True Faith.

1.Matthew 24:9

"Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.

2.John 15:20

Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.

I cannot see the persecution stopping in muslim countries regardless of what others say to them. They manage to get their own way when they move to non-muslim countries but never offer the same facilities for non-muslims in their countries. They want the whole world to be muslim and will stop at nothing to get it.

Christians will always have persecutors,mockers,etc.

Christians need to preach the Gospel (forgiveness and salvation Job 19).

Any redcution of persecution is good.

Before every abel raised by GOD a cain was ready to kill him.But today through the mercy and grace of GOD in these end times through the images of THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS AND HIS BRIDE: THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY, cains have been disarmed by GOD. And GOD promised that the cains will face their GOD this time instead of the abels who came from GOD. The cains are from the earth so the cains will never understand the abels. As GOD dersire today, in this era, to diffuse THE HOLY SPIRIT messages around the world through HIS prophets, ambassadors, messengers and even to every individual regardless of creed or color. These HOLY SPIRIT messages are written by GOD in the book: TRUE LIFE IN GOD authored by GOD HIMSELF.But the time of mercy of GOD has determined plan as the justice of GOD too had determined time. When the time of mercy is over will be the time of the justice of GOD. As GOD is merciful so is the severity of HIS JUDGMENT. THANK GOD; PRAISE GOD; FEAR GOD; GLORIFY GOD; HONOR GOD; LOVE GOD AND WORSHIP GOD.

I want NOTHING from the EU or any of its organizations.

Read between the lines: They think Christians are a 'poor' people who MUST have their help. Oldest liberal tactic there is, 'here, let us help you you poor miserable thing'. It's all about control!!

ICC—pronounced, "Ick," I'm sure.

Poor, poor Christians and their persecution complex. Funny how they're opposed to being treated the way they treat other people. Is that what Jesus would do?

Sweetheart, you simply must get your information from a less-biased source. Christians enjoy some of the greatest freedoms of any religious group, especially in the U.S. The countries that persecute Christians persecute all sorts of people—other religious groups as well as Christians. In true self-centered fundie fashion, though, you've managed to make it all about you, the center of the world.

Do you care at all about the other religious groups being persecuted, or do you just want special privileges for yourself?

Establishing a working group is the most politicaly correct way for the EU institutions to do absolutely nothing about a specific problem dear. Just like when one says "I'll pray for you" to someone asking for help...

you do not truly and honestly see this comes from the power sitting on the seven hills??? what benefit to anyone, other than themselves??? it is merely the beginning of their upcoming imposement and enforcement of their sun day law, which HAS begun in Europe....if anything, they'll gain the knowledge of who is a Christian and decide when to kill us off.....but....they have to catch us first....you cannot see how the vatican is aligining allies, really??? it's plain as day to me....Peace/Love & God Bless Us Everyone for the end is SOON and I couldn;t be happier :-D that is the only thing I get out of this article :-)

Christians bring out the worst in everybody around them.

To answer your question, if the Christian "God" is the one true God, i'm sure he can protect his own.

Personally, i hope they burn.

So, can we protect non-Christians from being persecuted by Christians, too, or is that still called "Intolerance?"
