Question:
Christians, am I really saved?
2019-04-26 13:37:05 UTC
I understand that nobody is good and that we are all sinners. Because of this, Jesus came and died on the cross so that our sins would be forgiven. I know that we have to repent of our sins and trust in Jesus. I have repented of the sins I was aware of, but here's what worries me: I found a few testimony videos on YouTube where Christians have said Jesus showed them they were on their way to Hell just because they were living life how they wanted to and not what Jesus wanted. I also understand we may have to make big sacrifices. Does that mean we have to give up some of our hobbies, even if they're not sinful? I love watching cartoons and animated films (especially by Disney and Hanna-Barbera) and listening to music, but I don't idolize them. Do I have to give all this stuff up (it would hurt a lot if I had to)? The only big things I've given up so far were some friendships. I mean, I do my best to do what Jesus wants, and I always pray and ask him to give me grace and strength to overcome any sin I may have in my life, but I'm still not sure if everything's ok. I am really worried, I'm not trying to hold onto any sin, I just don't know if I'm really saved. I don't want to die and go to Hell forever just because of some very tiny mistake I made in my life. Also, every time I pray to God or Jesus on this, I never get a straight answer. Does that mean everything's ok? Please, somebody help!

You have to find an Apostolic church and go through catechesis, either eastern or western Catholic.

You can do all of the "accepting Jesus" as you want but don'r fool yourself. There is action when the Holy Spirit is in dwelt.

All Christians are going to give an accounting. Yes we should try to be Christlike but I can tell you for a certainty that if you are not helping others, the sick, the poor and such, when you make your accounting, you should be worried that Christ will look at you and not see you.

31“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

If you are sincere about all of this, then: 1. Open your Bible to a. Sermon On The Mount (Mt. 5-6-7). Book Of James. Book Of Proverbs. b. Learn the 5 terms pardon, i.e. Romans 10:17, John 8:24, Luke 13:3, Matt. 10:32, Rom. 6:1-5 leading to Revelation 2:10.

If you don't know, only God knows. But, it is good that you are questioning whether you are saved. Most people who claim to know that they are saved are either liars, or they are deceiving themselves. Just believe that Jesus loves you. And, if it would only be possible to "know" that you are saved if God is forgiving. He will forgive you for questioning if you have doubts, as long as you earnestly choose to follow Jesus and not sin willingly.

When it comes to such things, remember that the bible talks about legalism as a bad thing. Remember Colossians 2:16-23 as well. Also remember that God said that we are to live a peaceful life with our neighbors if possible, and to also enjoy this good earth we are on.

When we see God convicting, laying out discipline, and pouring out wrath, it is only toward sinful behavior. Paul (Saul) says that all things are permitted, but not all things are good. Also the bible teaches us that many will come in the end of days and will be false teachers/prophets. We as Christians need to keep all this in mind. You don't follow YouTubers, priests, pastors, popes, bishops or elders--you follow Jesus Christ. He alone is your high priest.

Look at wine for example. There are -clear- examples of people drinking wine in the bible, as well as Christ providing wine for serving; not to mention Paul directing Timothy (I believe) directly to drink wine to help with his stomach ailments. Yet how many times have I heard that Christians shouldn't drink!? Do these people read the bible? However, I will not drink around those who struggle with this, just as you shouldn't do hobbies that would lead you into behavior where others would blame you. Does this mean you can't drink? No. Just don't do it around those people.

You know, regarding God answering questions, sometimes it's not enough that we go to him. He wants us to go to the body of Christ with our issues, as iron sharpens iron. By you bringing this issue here, some of us were able to answer and perhaps help you. The things God has done in my life have given me the examples and bridges into your life, so give him praise, glory, and thanks for what he has done for you.

Enjoy your life, but put God first, and if there is an action that is toting the line of sin, run from it. If it is sin, don't do it. All other things are permitted, and anyone telling you otherwise either should have a biblical reason, or they are trying to bind you into a law of self-righteousness; which if we follow, we make void the grace we are given through Christ (as you clearly showed in your first few sentences).

Also, why did you reject your friends? Because they weren't Christian? That's not what God teaches us. He himself went to the sinners and ate with them. Just don't do what they do, but you can be friends with murderers, liars, and any other sin you can think of, because hey, you aren't perfect either and are just as bad as them. You've been made perfect through the grace of Christ only.

What does the Bible say? Assurance of salvation comes from the Word of God.

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life" (John 6:47).

Do you believe in Jesus? If so, what do you have according to the verse above?

Because we have all sinned against a perfectly holy and righteous God, we all deserve eternal separation from God in hell (Rom. 6:23). However, God loves us so much that He sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross as our Substitute. Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose from the grave (1 Cor. 15:3-4). The Bible is clear that salvation is not by our good works. The only condition for receiving everlasting life is to believe in Jesus for that free gift! It really is that simple.

Repentance does NOT mean turning from sins. No one has ever turned from all their sins (1 John 1:8). Repentance in salvation means "a change of mind" from unbelief to trust in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life.

You are saved by believing in Jesus. At the very moment that you believe in Jesus to save you, you are saved forever, and it is too late to be saved, after death. The people on Youtube are fakes. Enjoy your shows.

No, no one is "saved" in this life. That's a fundie misinterpretation. There are no get-out-of-hell-free cards. We sin all our lives, repent, and resolve to do better. We don't know whether we'll be given salvation -- "saved" -- until we die and meet our Maker.

Speaking of fundies, stop listening to them. There's no reason for you to give up wholesome hobbies -- like watching cartoons.

God be with you.

Only God knows our final destination. All you can do is strive to be your best and to treat others with courtesy in the meantime.

"I found a few testimony videos on YouTube where Christians have said that Jesus showed them they were on the way to hell just because they were living life how they wanted and not what Jesus wanted....."

.

They are all false teachers. They are contradicting the Bible, so they are liars. Jesus didn't show them anything. Remember that Youtube works for the channel owner based on views. So being controversial and shocking will get more views. But they lied to you.

None of us have lived the way Jesus wants. We're all sinners. So to be in heaven and avoid hell, believe in Jesus. That easy. Watching TV shows and movies is fine, and that isn't going to send you to hell. So don't believe these false teachers on there.

The truth is that when you believe in Jesus for eternal life, then you are going to heaven. That easy.

The truth is that death leads to immediate heaven or hell, depending only on whether the person believed in Jesus for eternal life, or not.

The truth is that Jesus loves you and wants to bless your life freely :) Most of all, Jesus wants you with Him forever, and not in hell. The truth is that every belief except one will lead to eternal torment in the lake of fire for every person. Because nothing pays for our sins except the death and blood of Jesus, the sacrifice of Jesus that is already accomplished by Him . Jesus loves you! The truth is that Jesus is God, and Jesus died on the cross to pay for all of our sins in full, and then Jesus resurrected from the dead. Nothing else pays for our sins, not works, not deeds, not religions. So the only way to heaven and to avoid hell, is by believing in Jesus for eternal life (John 6:47), without adding any of your own works (Romans 4:5). Believe in Jesus to take you to heaven, and you will be in heaven, no matter what, guaranteed. That easy, thanks to Jesus! Tell Jesus that you thank Him that you will be with Him in heaven when you die, because you believe in Jesus! It is too late to be saved, after death

If you add works to salvation, you will be in hell (Romans 4:5, Acts 15:1, Galatians 1:6-9, Matthew 7:22).

the MYTH of Sacrifice.

1) What? Sacrifice? Since when is a murder victim actively sacrificing himself if others are murdering him? Others are actively killing him, how is this an act of self-sacrifice? If someone came to you, grabbed you by force, nailed you to a cross and killed you, how is that an act of you Sacrificing Yourself for mankind? You can’t have it both ways…

2) It is NOT a SACRIFICE if you die and go right to a GREAT reward of eternal bliss in heaven with Daddy. That isn’t a sacrifice – living a life of near famine, fighting for scant food every day, living in caves or dirt floor huts, wiping your rear-end with your own hands every time you poop and hoping you can find water somewhere to wash with, no medicine or surgery or any knowledge of germs or what causes disease, no clean clothes or regular bathing – everyone stinks to the hilt with their sour body stench…life in those days was no picnic. It was usually very horrible. So, leaving that for heavenly, eternal bliss – this was called SACRIFICE? Are you kidding me?

3) How gullible do people need to be to A) never question this stuff, and B) simply believe it and accept it without ever giving it a thought – and I mean REAL thought, not the kind of thought you need to give in order to talk around the facts and justify your belief/acceptance of it – I mean CRITICAL THOUGHT -- the kind of critical thought that allows you to see it for what it is: a poorly written, poorly designed story full of holes; a mythical bronze-age cult story that doesn’t hold water, and doesn’t survive any common sense or logical consideration.

A complete Fatal Flaw in Logic and Premise.
