Question:
second coming of god? is it near?
2008-06-13 21:26:17 UTC
Hi.
in the bible, god said that there were certain clues for his second coming, and to be ready...so do you think it is near? he said there would be economic failure, and look. some politicians believe we're in a recession. and even if its not in a recession, its still in bad shape. he said there would be natural disasters beyond belief. there was just a massive earthquake in asia, and they're still having aftershocks. do you think his second coming is near?
and, with all of this global warming, god did say that he would never flood the earth again, he would just heat it on his second coming.

God promised never to flood the earth again, but if he said he'd destroy it another way, do you think the rainbow would be a comforting sign? There will be no fiery end to planet earth, or any kind of end. The fiery catastrophe talked about is an end to "a world," but not the planet. It happened already at the destruction of Jerusalem, which was the early Christians' entire world. The "old heavens and earth" was a symbolic phrase for the old covenant. The elements that melted in fervent heat were "rudiments" of the temple rituals. (#4747 in Strong's Concordance.) The planet remains forever according to Ecclesiastes 1:4, Psalm 104:5, and Ephesians 3:21.

Remember as you read your Bible who it is addressed to. Then you won't make the mistake of thinking the signs are in OUR future. They were future to THEM, 2000 yrs ago, and they were to happen "shortly" and "soon" to THEM. ("Audience Relevance")

hmmm....I believe god is coming....go to church and pray and give me all your money because you won't need it in heaven (or hell).

Or maybe why economic failures are happening are because of a poorly managed administration in the white house not regulating anything and shady morgage practices.

And guess what natural disasters have always happened; they don't have to have a super natural reason behind them.

As for Global Warming thats easy to explain without God. The humans didn't take care of the planet so now the planet is bad shape. If you pollute it is going to eventually catch up to you. Cause and Effect people!!!!

Every generation has thought that the end of times were near. I don't think this generation is any different.

The prophet Daniel was given the information that lets us learn when the second coming of the Messiah would be. In a dream he saw a statue, which was sectioned off in that each part was made up of different metals, or, metal & clay. Each section symbolized a different world government. The basics of this are explained --along with the dates involved-- in:

The "sign of Christ's presence" began when he returned in kingdom power, & turned his attention to the earth. He threw Satan & his hordes out of heaven, for ever...

Since that time, the world has never been the same.

There have been world wars, & every other conceivable kind of war, earthquakes, & other horrible things happening among --& to-- mankind, ever since. It took peace away from the earth:

People have been predicting it for 2,000 years and are no less stupid today than then. Do you really think the pedley earthquake and typhoon are signs of an almight God. The Tsunami of a while back was way more impressive but meant nothing in terms of devine intervention. C'mon God show me your real stuff. Oh and the economic woes of the world are mostly GWB's doing - is he God???

Yes, I could copy 'n paste, but I'd rather tell you that I firmly believe we're at the end of the world right now. Unlike many other mainstream faiths, I don't accept the "secret rapture" theology. Upon study, you'll also find that it's not Biblical. The end will come like this: The Antichrist will come and deceive the world into thinking he is the real Christ, but the Bible says 'every eye shall see Him'. That's impossible for a mere man walking around on planet earth....anyways....the point I wanna make is that Jesus will come in the clouds of heaven with ten thousand upon ten thousands of angels accompanying Him.

I believe it is at the door. Some say we've always had disasters, etc and yes we have, but what they do not understand or have not read in God's Word is that all these things happening are happening just as birthpangs......with more intensity and at a more rapid rate. Just look at the world events...middle east, middle east, etc...not a coincidence, but prophecy is being fulfilled! For you atheists who sneer and live in ignorance, it is not too late to read the book of truth, future and promises. Today is the day of salvation. God bless

Yes, I honestly believe that we are very close to the end of days as we know it. No man knows the day or the hour, but we are told to watch for the signs. The world is screaming at us to look towards the East. There is a really good video I saw recently on godtube.com that is called "Prophecy Update: Signs in the Heavens." Check it out. Pretty exciting stuff for believers.

Can you name me a point in human history when there wasn't an economic failure in some part of the world, and natural disasters?

Edit: "oh and to u atheists out there who try to tell christians that god is not real, that is the one thing god will never ever forgive u for in the bible."

You sure you haven't accidentally done that in your life? Maybe your mind wandered for a bit...

It is hard to look around at the world's affairs and not wonder. Unfortunately, it is going to get much worse. It is written. It will come to pass. As for me, I know I will see the end of what I know soon. Perhaps within 5 years. Maybe tonight.

Messianic Judiasm Pastor using NASA on Blood moon eclipses: 2nd Coming in 2015?

And can studying NASA’s website provide evidence for such a scenario?

A minister who promotes the Old Testament roots of Christianity suggests a rare string of lunar and solar eclipses said to fall on God’s annual holy days seven years from now could herald what’s come to be known as the “Second Coming” of Jesus.

“God wants us to look at the biblical calendar,” says Mark Biltz, pastor of El Shaddai Ministries in Bonney Lake, Wash. “The reason we need to be watching is [because] He will signal His appearance. But we have to know what to be watching as well. So we need to be watching the biblical holidays.”

In a video interview on the Prophecy in the News website, Biltz said he’s been studying prophecies that focus on the sun and moon, even going back to the book of Genesis where it states the lights in the sky would be “be for signs, and for seasons.”

He states after 2015 there are no more Eclipses that fall on the Jewish Passover ever.

Biltz says, “You have the religious year beginning with the total solar eclipse, two weeks later a total lunar eclipse on Passover, and then the civil year beginning with the solar eclipse followed two weeks later by another total blood red moon on the Feast of Succoth all in 2015.”

“If you think that this is a coincidence, I want you to know that it’s time!” exclaimed Prophecy in the News host J.R. Church. “There are no more of these for the rest of the century.”

This makes sense since many people are stating this YEAR FALL will mark the last 7 years Daniel's 70th week this fall

THE FINAL TRIBULATION.

The Tribulation is a future time period when the Lord will accomplish at least two aspects of His plan: 1) He will complete His discipline of the nation Israel (Daniel 9:24), and 2) He will judge the unbelieving, godless inhabitants of the earth (Revelation 6 - 18). The length of the Tribulation is seven years. This is determined by an understanding of the seventy weeks of Daniel (Daniel 9:24-27; also see the article on the Tribulation). The Great Tribulation is the last half of the Tribulation period, three and one-half years in length. It is distinguished from the tribulation period because the Beast, or Antichrist, will be revealed, and the wrath of God will greatly intensify during this time. Thus, it is important at this point to emphasize that the Tribulation and the Great Tribulation are not synonymous terms. Within eschatology (the study of future things), the Tribulation refers to the full seven-year period while the term “Great” Tribulation refers to the second half of the Tribulation.

It is Christ alone who used the phrase "Great Tribulation" with reference to the last half of the Tribulation. In Matthew 24:21, Jesus said, "For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever shall." In this verse Jesus is referring to the event of Matthew 24:15, which describes the revealing of the abomination of desolation, the man also known as the Antichrist. It also should be noted that Jesus in Matthew 24:29-30 states, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days . . . the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory." By this passage, Jesus defines the Great Tribulation (v.21) as beginning with the revealing of the abomination of desolation (v.15) and ending with Christ's second coming (v.30).

Other key passages that refer to the Great Tribulation are Daniel 12:1b which says, "And there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time." It seems that Jesus was quoting this verse when He spoke the words recorded in Matthew 24:21. Also referring to the Great Tribulation is Jeremiah 30:7, "Alas! for that day is great, There is none like it; And it is the time of Jacob’s distress, But he will be saved from it." The phrase “Jacob’s distress” refers to the nation of Israel, which will experience persecution and natural disasters such as has never before been seen.

Considering the information Christ gave us in Matthew 24:15-30, it is easy to conclude that the beginning of the Great Tribulation has much to do with the revealing of the abomination of desolation, the actions of the Antichrist. In Daniel 9:26-27, we find that this man will make a "covenant" (a peace pact) with the world for seven years (one week; again, see the article on the Tribulation). Halfway through the seven-year period—"in the middle of the week"—we are told this man will break the covenant he made, stopping sacrifice and grain offering, which specifically refers to his actions in the newly rebuilt temple of the future. Revelation 13:1-10 gives even more detail concerning the Beast's actions, and just as important, it also verifies the length of time he will be in power. Revelation 13:5 says he will be in power for 42 months, which is three and one-half years, the length of the Great Tribulation.

Revelation offers us the most information about the Great Tribulation. From Revelation 13 when the Beast or abomination of desolation is revealed until Christ returns in Revelation 19, we are given a picture of God's wrath on the earth because of unbelief and rebellion (Revelation 16-18) and also a picture of how God disciplines and at the same time protects His people Israel (Revelation 14:1-5) until He keeps His promise to Israel by establishing an earthly kingdom (Revelation 20:4-6).

Mathew 24:36, "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only."

Mark 13:32, "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

We must keep in mind that the rapture and the second coming of Christ are two different things. At the rapture, believers in Jesus will go to meet Jesus in the clouds, but Jesus will not return to the earth at this time. Jesus returns back at the end of the Great Tribulation (which is 7 years).

There are signs that we are told about, to watch for:

Matthew 24:4-14, "And Jesus answered and said to them: 'Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.'"
