Even today?

I dont get why people reject the important message it holds, the lessons on love, humbleness, peace, by being angry and negative about it?

This world is ruled by the deceiver and many are fooled. We shouldn't be surprised for it is well explained that there are more that don't make the team than do.

(Matthew 7) Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Keep trying but don't feel bad if you can't convert them. Plant the seed then let the Holy Spirit work on them.

it does seem like an oxymoron. But jesus did say to his disciples:

(John 15:20) . . .Bear in mind the word I said to YOU, A slave is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will persecute YOU also; if they have observed my word, they will observe YOURS also. . .

the gospel accounts show how the majority of those who jesus preached too did not accept him, despite the miricales he performed. At the end of the day, 2 thessalonians 3:2 states that faith is not the possesion of all people.

additionally as humans we tend to not want to see ourselves the way we really are. So when the light of the bible is flashed on a persons life, it may reveal a lifestyle that is rejected by god. the bible talks about this too.

(John 3:19-21) . . .Now this is the basis for judgment, that the light has come into the world but men have loved the darkness rather than the light, for their works were wicked. 20 For he that practices vile things hates the light and does not come to the light, in order that his works may not be reproved. 21 But he that does what is true comes to the light, in order that his works may be made manifest as having been worked in harmony with God.”

i could mention other things, such as the hypocrisy in many christian churches from the clergy to the patrons, scandals that have rocked many churches etc, as additonal reasons why people have taken a negative view of the bible and christianity.

However, it is possible to find the true christian congregation today

Hi genius,

If you want to pray to a fairy tale for the rest of your life, that's up to you.

But when the bible thumpers get on here and manipulate, shame and blame others to indoctrinate others it's just ram your beliefs down, regardless.....

Let me start over. Do you really think, that constant arguing with others who don't believe in what you believe is really an effective way to to convince others?

I don't think anyone does, do they? We tend to like Jesus' humanist stuff about not judging others, caring for each other, giving to the poor etc. That fits in well with the humanist morality we have at this time in the West. Its all the stuff about killing people and justifying rape and slavery and child sexual abuse that we are hostile to.

I believe that what was revealed to Jesus was a revelation from God; however, I do not believe in the Bible today. I do not believe it to be in its original format, original message, original anything. If it contains messages of good like you listed, then good; follow it if you would like.

Peace.

Tell that to the millions if not billions of people that have been tortured and killed in the name of your god--I doubt they would agree with you.
