If consciousness is a subtle part of energy-matter complex then mustn't it transform into something else after one's death, instead of turning into absolute nothing?

Everything i believe can be defined as an Energy...scientifically...or spiritually...from the smallest matter...to the biggest mountain...its all in vibration...at various dimensions....consciousness does transform...the question is...are we 'aware' of such a transformation....

Counsciousness is not energy or a part of the matter-energy complex, because if it was then it would be subject to the law of transformation and change i.e. matter can be converted into energy and vice versa (E=mc2). It is an Absolute Reality, which is not subject to any change or transformation.
Although we use words like energy to describe consciousness, it is not really that.
Consciousness is a field which lies beyond the constructs of space-and-time, and so it is unaffected by the laws of matter that govern our universe, in other words it is a non material substance from which spring this entire material creation. That is why sometimes people call consciousness as "nothing" because it is not made of anything material.

I can kind of understand why some people like yourself are drawn to atheists when asking science questions. There are many of us who embrace it. But you're better off asking scientists questions like this. Atheism is a very broad category of people, so you're likely to get more false answers than if you were to ask exclusively scientists.
As for your question, i'm no authority on the matter, but i'll give you some food for thought. I don't have a hard time believing consciousness "transforms" in some way. But in this context that term is a bit ambiguous. If it does transform into something, what would it transform into? Could transform into nothingness. Think of it this way, what was your consciousness like before you were born? It seemed like nothingness, but i don't really remember. Consciousness could just transform back to something similar to the way it was before we were born. But then again, the word "transform" could be a poor way to describe it.

Consciousness is a part of energy-matter complex;
It is the energy in the matter complex.
It enables the matter to become able to work; primarily and essentially for helping the matter only; to not only attract and gain; from out side; the properties of a particular type and kind of nature; but also for driving itself with the help of the quality and style of working of that particular type and kind of nature.
Consciousness; helps the matter as above; for continuing to help the matter only to survive and to live; and to earn a name, image and identity of own.
Consciousness; itself; does not transform; but helps the matter to transform instead.
It therefore; either exists in the matter or does not; or can either be given to matter or taken away from it.
It is the essence of life everywhere; in all matter; including our selves. It drives us to transform; and if we study and know and use it carefully; we can then; instead of using the lower consciousness; use higher consciousness or the higher energies of the god the lord himself ; as many did, previously.

Well, no, it's neither matter or energy really. It's really a pattern within a mechanism made of energy and matter.
As an analogy, think about computing power and data on a computer. If you destroy my hard disk, where do my music recordings go? Do they reform into something else? Do they go to heaven? Or does the reformation of the matter that supports it (i.e. the hard disk) destroy the recording completely?

not so sure physics can be argued to support after death scenarios at this point in time... the act of thinking is a metabolic function (ie - you take in food so your brain has energy to process thoughts) Upon death you cease all known metabolic functions (ie - no heartbeat, no thoughts).. your rotting carcass is still a part of energy-matter but your consciousness is no more according to todays laws of physics and nature

Sigh...Do you fairly understand something approximately capability? that's a stress, no longer a actual being that could evolve. What occurs while that stress is released is what makes nuclear weapons. while somebody dies, they do no longer lose their capability. They lose their function. in the event that they lost their capability, they had could blow up like an atom bomb. it is not a important argument to coach the existence of the soul.

Consciousness is a concept. It's not an object and it is not made of anything. It is a product of the brain, and when the brain dies, it rots and its energy goes to feed plants and worms etc.
@torpex, probably because consciouness has nothing to do with thermodynamics whatsoever...

Yes! It magically transforms into an eternal soul so that you live in paradise forever!
Geez! Are you like 6 yo or something? Time to lose the childish fairy tales.

consciousness is the ability for a body to identify it's self and it's surrounding, it's all hard wired into your brain. AM SURE YOU CANNOT PROVE ME WRONG.

yeah, sort of the same way whiteness transforms into "something else" when snow melts?

Funny how you guys never quote laws of thermodynamics regarding entropy on THIS topic...
