Why do people come up with stupid things like racism is stupid?Isnt being racist at least better than being PC?

Everyone is a racist, no one can change that. Racism is an inherent attribute in every human being, there is bound to be a bias about one thing or another. Now, because we live in the US; we have the right to free speech (the 1st amendment, and it ALSO applies to the media). The US constitution allows Americans to express their racist views without facing any repercussions, even if it goes against someone's creed or belief system.

Now, the PC (the government and the media) are taking over the US and the freedom of speech of Americans. A black person can call a white man 'cracker', but the white man cant use '*****r'. No one can criticize Zionists or Israel, no matter if its the ex-president Jimmy Carter or the CIA head (of the Osama bin Laden unit) Michael Scheuer. Jimmy Carter was not allowed to speak on 2 college campuses. Even though these guys didnt have to face political consequences, they were marginalized and not granted a fair platform by the US media sources; which is guaranteed by the 1st amendment.

College campuses are not bound by the 1st amendment. It only applies to the government prohibiting free speech. The US media certainly does not promote free speech, where did you get that idea? Also, you will face repercussions from society in general if you make racist comments, but not from the government. However, if you are an employer and your hiring practices are racist, then you are in huge trouble.



Anyway, our society has decided to reject racism because it leads to things like denial of the right to vote and lynchings. I'd rather live in a somewhat overprotective country than a country where you can be killed for looking at the wrong person in the wrong way.

Fail. The Constitution does not guarantee that you can express your racist views without reperucssions. It guarantees that you can state your views without government interference. It also guarantees everyone else's right to call you a bigot and treat you like one.

The point is: you have rights....so does everyone else. When the use of your rights violates others' rights, laws have to be made to protection their rights, thus limiting yours. You have a right to swing your fist. I have a right to be safe. Thus a law was made to protect my right by limiting yours. Your right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins.
