These are not very good choices and on their own do not make us better. I'm going to pretend you were joking about the morality thing.

Neither actually. Competition might give us a dose of reality, so that we can strive to be better, but too much is not good. Countries that eliminated competition from their schools showed to have a much higher quality of education. This is because no one is focused on out doing someone else. Some competition is good, but at times it does not give everyone an equal opportunity for success. As for religion, while some people may find morals in religion, you don't need it to have morals. Morals are something that we have as humans. Religion did not give humans morals, or create them.

Both have a good and a bad side. Religion is the cause of many wars, and religious persecution is the reason for thousands of deaths. Competition, when people get carried away with it, can lead to violence. I'd say overall, I would rather have competition than religion.

Neither one, which is why the world is in such a mess today. The best thing that could happen to the world, is for all people to realize that they have to answer (be responsible) to a higher being who looks at 2 things:

Do we love God? (He is love)

Do we love our neighbor?

While answering questions here, I notice that a lot of rancor against God exists, but I don't think rancor against love is too smart.
