I am a Celtic Reconstructionist with very strong Wiccan leanings, and I practice both Witchcraft and Occultism.

I have had Christians tell me that Witchcraft is the way of the devil, that God hates me, and so on...often without being told of my beliefs and practices.

My guess is, yes, they believe in it.

Unfortunately the answer is yes. For those of you who are saying "You DON'T believe in witches?!" as if it's just common knowledge that witches exist then you either need a reality check or you just need to define witches more clearly. Of course there are witches in the sense that there are Wiccan people who practice witchcraft and think they have magical occult powers... but does that mean they actually DO have magical witch-y powers? No more than real Vampires can turn into bats and are immortal. Obviously, they can't and they're not, they're just people who like to drink blood and, more recently, think they sparkle when they go out into the sunlight.

What this question was asking is do Christians still believe in witches as they were originally thought to exist in Biblical times. To that, the answer is yes, SOME (not most), do believe in a literal interpretation of the bible which includes all the things that most rational adults can easily dismiss -- like witches.

Wicca is witchcraft.

the devil would have you believe there is no witches.

but a fortune teller is a witch. It all has to do with the occult.

Yes their are still witches, and yes they are abomination before the Lord.

Just go to the Myth and fantasy section of the message board you will see they exist.

That's a really strange question since witchcraft is real it's not about believing in it, it's a real religion. I used to work with a Wiccan (which means she studies witchcraft). She showed me her Wiccan Bible once. It was interesting. Mostly about nature and trees and how to cast spells and things like that.

There was actually a witch in the Bible...she called up ...Solomon???...maybe? from the grave. I'm serious...look it up. I believe that witchcraft is real. I also believe that its a tampering with spirits or demons. Not the smartest idea...I like Harry Potter though! ;-)

The original quote in the bible was, "Thou shall not suffer a poisoner to live."

This was changed to support the Inquisition at the same time that the Maleus Malificorum was published.

Ane don't worry, we don't believe in Christians, either.

I don't believe "in" witches, but they do exist. I have to believe "in" their power for it to work on me. I believe in the armour of the lord, so I am not really concerned by them. I actually know a few, but I do not include them in my circle of friends, just acquaintances, really.

You don't believe in witches? There are plenty of people who practice "witchcraft" and will admit to it, such as Wiccans.

They should believe that they exist because God says they do. It's in the Old Testament. God told us to stay away from them.
