As a Christian, I don't think it's logical to say that because God says he exists in the bible means he does is good proof of his existence, but the bible itself has a lot to do with his existence. It is the word inspired by God and written through men. It has no contradictions, and is harmonious throughout all of it. It may be old, but if you google search, you'll find it's literally one of the most trustworthy books from it's time.
But these types of Christians kind of make us look bad-_-

First off, no one can convince another human being of anything they don't want to be convinced of. Not by argumentation or discussion or force. It isn't within the capacity of human power. Only the Holy Spirit can do this. For those who choose to reject God, they will amass the evidence for as to why -- but those who do choose God, will do the same -- and there is plenty of evidence if you are open to it. The truly open mind must by necessity also include the acceptance of a mind that closes around the Truth.

Seems it's actually atheists who seem not to understand that using theories and opinions to try disprove the existence of God doesn't really count.
Atheists would have us believe they hold the world up - deluded fools.

When you get into an accident with your car. You have to have proof of insurance.
When one is becoming a citizen of a country one has to study facts and books to become one. I know as I was naturalized as a citizen of the USA almost two score years ago.
As a Christian. We have the book that discusses our faith and what we believe in. And for me that is good enough evidence for my belief.
I suppose then.. an atheist doesn't need books to prove there is no God?
Just think outside the box a bit.

To pinpoint the Christians, I take it that you are a Christian atheist. Were you aware that there are Jewish atheists and Mooslim atheists? what you don't seem to realize is that to us you have a hostile approach with Christianity in general and that you were most likely a Christian at some point or raised in a Christian family or community where your attitude towards religion has degenerated into a direct reflection of your most significant relationships, primarily involving your family and background. Whether or not this actually applies to you is irrelevant, you sound like an uneducated rebellious teenage jackass and I wants to mess with your head. You make it so easy to do. Your insult is quite popular around these parts, but it is overused and that is putting it mildly. Makes you seem a bit like a newbie

Most Christians think of the bible as some sort of miraculous, all inclusive record that was written by the hand of God. It is not. It is a compilation of records that contain history, prophecies of respected prophets and letters to groups or individuals. It is not the complete handbook on Christianity. That role is for living prophets. Some books probably should not even be there. For example, the Song of Solomon sounds like a racy love sonnet.
"Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins, which feed among the lilies". Song of Solomon 4:5
Having said that, the bible contains tons of eye witness accounts over thousands of years that have an eery consistency of principles. For example there is heavy certainty about how God reacts to those who trust in him. It can be very convincing.

Neither then does using commentaries stating that God does to support an atheist position count since they are only opinions and have no more force than quoting from the Bible using your logic. As a result there is no evidence to support either point of view, both are dealing with belief.

Because my discovery of mankind's misinterpretation of scripture that makes up the first five Books of The Bible now requires that I use my new knowledge of what really is written in The Bible and its proper interpretation as proof that the advanced scientific knowledge contained in this scripture could not have originated from any human mind on earth at that time and had to originate from a non human scientific mind.
My discovery now turns pages and pages of scripture back into the scientific text our Intelligent Designer wrote it as from the non scientific religious interpretations we still think they mean today. Sounds to me like the debate over Intelligent Design Theory is now far from over and in fact has just begun.

Does a recipe prove the existence of a great dish? No. It is merely the means by which we may experience that great dish for ourselves.
But correct application is needed. Trusting and then following the recipe is the best way, in fact the only way to ensure the chefs intended results. When we trust and follow the recipe correctly and taste it, then we have our proof. Words on paper are useless until they are applied correctly. Math equations, the Constitution, workout books and marriage vows for example, all require correct application to experience the intended results.
In the same way, the bible does not prove God. God is not looking to prove Himself to those who are uninterested in Him. What the bible does is provide the direction needed for those who are interested in knowing Him to experience God the way He intended. Applying the bible is how we get proof.
Proof after all, is in the pudding. Application is key:)

"Many believers admit that nothing could change their mind about their religious beliefs, which means they are no longer seekers of truth and have become, in essence, mindless religious robots. Religion consistently and effectively discourages introspection and inquiry. That isn't by accident."-- Bob Peters
“One would go mad if one took the Bible seriously; but to take it seriously one must be already mad.” ― Aleister Crowley

I'm Christian myself and it should be obvisous to those who do this that this will never work explaining god to n atheist or agnostic you have to take a philosophical maybe even theological approach and less spiritual and many famous Christians have awkolwedged this most recenntyl pope francis historically a great example would be st Thomas Aquinas

Borrowing from Pamela because this is correctly stated for this question.

Why did Jesus Christ say His generation would pay for the blood of the prophets?
70 AD a generation after Jesus Christ Birth The Temple and Jerusalem was destroyed and the Dispora began anew
Luke 11 49"For this reason also the wisdom of God said, 'I will send to them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and some they will persecute, 50so that the blood of all the prophets, shed since the foundation of the world, may be charged against this generation, 51from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the house of God; yes, I tell you, it shall be charged against this generation.'…

Why do non christians not understand its not any Christians job or commission to prove gods existence to you?
Jesus told us to preach the gospel. The gospel is in the bible. It's our job to do exactly that! Any other action is of Satan the devil!
When your boss tells you paint the fence white and you instead tear down the fence your boss is going be angry!
So its not a christian job to prove god to you.
It's a christian job to preach god to you.

The Bible has been afforded legal right as a valid document for several hundred years. To suggest that just because you think it should not be afforded that position does not negate rules of precedence and the actual meaning of the word evidence!
When Thomas Jefferson wrote "We hold these truths to be self evident...." the source of that evidence was in part the Bible.
Your position is one of arrogance and based on lack of knowledge.

A) They usually debate with other Xtians so they use the bible since their used to it
B) There is a concept that nobody would make up a face religious book (evidently discounting the other 4,199 religions)
At the end of the day, does it really matter?

Well...they might understand if it is explained to them *properly*.
Saying, "That doesn't really count." will not persuade them.
Saying, "You know, I don't believe the Bible is a reliable source of information, so do you have anything else that you consider proof?" might be more instructive.

Oh yes it does. Some just take a little longer to realize that
Isa 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall confess to God.

Jesus made the blind see,he raised the dead,he cured leprosy, walked on water, turned water into wine,& yet his own people did not believe he was their Messiah, the only begotten Son of God..
How then do you think the followers of Christ can convince non-believers?
Jesus said the only to my father is through me.
That means it's his way,or eternal Hell.
We can not make you believe anything, but don't come crying to us when you're swimming in an eternal lake of fire;It will be too late by then.
Oh,& another small detail;Jesus never lied.
You figure it out.

All you have to do is look at creation, the earth itself and the living beings on it, the stars and galaxies and KNOW the someone had to put it there. If you are too blind to see and understand that, then there is not much hope for you.
