If there where atleast 10 righteous people within the city then god would spare the city for their sake. but surely there where babies and children, they where surely righteous (innocent) they where without sin. So why did they not count?
"American heritage Dictionary" right-eous/ adjective: 1. morally upright, without guilt or sin 2. in accordance with virtue or morality 3. morally justifiable

God knows all. God must have known that those babies and children would grow up to be unrighteous adults.

Do you actually HAVE children??? ANYONE who has raised children of their own KNOWS that infants and children are NOT "little angels"! Infants wake you up at 3:00 AM just to play! The first thing a child learns is to lie, and anyone who has observed preschool and kindergarten classes KNOWS how cruel the youngsters are.

Children are NOT without sin, and are NOT righteous.

EVen so, God has this strange way of keeping people from harm by "snatching" them out of harms way. He can take them directly to Heaven -- although, to us left on earth, it APPEARS as though they died! Given that a child in Sodom was exposed to homosexuality, lesbianism, bestiality, orgiastic sex, and probably pedophilia, it stand to reason that God COULD have simply taken the children out of harms way -- by "rapturing" them BEFORE the destruction of the cities.

SURELY you are familiar with this famous quote from the bible:

"There is no one righteous. No, not one!"

It doesn't same "men only" or women only" or "except children".. NO ONE is righteous.

according to the bible tho, every1 is born into sin...to an extent you're correct because the children were ''innocent'' but if the parents of these children are corrupt or lost sinful souls then what would really be the odds of the children growing up to be followers of god? Parents fail to understand that in some cases their children also pay the price for their actions.

They are innocent but not righteous since they are too young to confess to God but God will still take them if they die because they are innocent. God doesn't punish children instead loves children as his own and loves everyone else as a child of his.

An interesting question. However, the deal asked of God was "x righteous * men *". It said nothing about children.

Of course, you can use this rabbit trail as another reason to bash the God in which you do not believe, but at least get the text right.

righteousness and innocence aren't synonymous, so God wouldnt have cast judgement on the innocent(children babies) and you would agree innocence can be corrupted and taken away correct? so how long would those children have been innocent? i have no doubt that pedophiles were among those living in that city

Righteousness even in your definition requires the ability to make moral decisions, innocence and righteousness are not the same thing.

Didn't matter in the flood or Jericho etc. Why not in Sodom?

For those who mentioned 'men', then why destroy the kids with them?

I just love all the various justifications given. They don't even match...

He was referring to those that were old enough to know the difference, everyone knows that all Children that have not reached the age of accountability are not responsible for themselves because they are not old enough or their little minds are not developed enough to make decisions for themselves. All babies and small Children belong to God and he will take them unto himself, they were not destroyed.

No doubt fetuses also got burned up when God sent fire down on Sodom. Apparently, God is not pro-life after all.

Children didn't know what was right and wrong..........I think God wanted the men, ones who know from right and wrong.

Babies and children are not able to discern right from wrong, they don't understand they are sinners.

Maybe there weren't any children or babies there... because the men were homosexual, they didn't reproduce.

That is an excellent argument.

I still think God has the right to destroy his own work.

Is it not wonderful how rarely he does!

Interesting point. Another hole in the whole Bible thing.
