I do not believe that Islam is a peaceful religion.In its wake it has left millions dead. In Islam the infidel basically has 3 choices. Convert, submit and be enslaved or die.

You are confusing politics with religion. Look how many millions of people have been killed by Christians in the name of God. Look at the Holy War. How many Millions have been killed by the Jews in the Holy Land? How many religions has the Christian Church tried to destroy? How many innocent people have been accused, tried and put to death for "Practicing Witchcraft" by Christians? You are judging an entire religion on the actions of a few fanatical fundamentalist. That is like judging Christians on the actions of Rev. Phelps and his "Church".

The Glorious Qur’an says: “…take not life, which God hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.” [Al-Qur’an 6:151] Islam considers all life forms as sacred. However, the sanctity of human life is accorded a special place. The first and the foremost basic right of a human being is the right to live. The Glorious Qur’an says: “…if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.” [Al-Qur’an 5:32] Even Western scholars have repudiated the myth of Muslims coercing others to convert. The great historian De Lacy O'Leary wrote: "History makes it clear, however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims, sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myths that historians have ever repeated."[3] Muslims ruled Spain for roughly 800 years. During this time, and up until they were finally forced out, the non-Muslims there were alive and flourishing. Additionally, Christian and Jewish minorities have survived in the Muslim lands of the Middle East for centuries. Countries such as Egypt, Morocco, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan all have significant Christian and/or Jewish populations. This is not surprising to a Muslim, for his faith prohibits him from forcing others to see his point of view. The Glorious Qur’an says: “Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in God hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And God heareth and knoweth all things.” [Al-Qur’an 2:256] The Quran and Sunnah (Traditions of the Prophet) explicitly dictate regulations and rights for the protection of non-Muslim minorities living under the rule of Islam. The Prophet even said that if a Muslim hurts a covenanted person (i.e. a non-Muslim living under the rule of Islam) or commits any injustice to him, then on the Day of Judgment the Prophet (pbuh) would be the advocate on behalf of the non-Muslim against the Muslim. What would be the sense and need for all of these prescriptions and advice, if Islam required that they be compelled to accept the religion? Today the fastest growing religion in America and in Europe is Islam. Which sword is forcing people in the West to accept Islam in such large numbers?

Christianity is supposedly a peaceful religion too... but look what it's done in the past (Crusades and much more).



There is a difference though, like there is today. Most people who practice Islam aren't fanatical who'd kill for their religion. The wouldn't do what you see sometimes on the news.



And this goes for Jews too. When I was reading what they did to neighboring countries, people and cities when they went from Egypt, there were mass slaughters such as Jericho.

Christianity is a peaceful "religion" (I see Christianity as a following, not a religion) . Jesus is the true definition of love. No one can ever say that Jesus was a heavy-handed tyrant like Mohammed. Because of Mohammed's teachings, Islam is comprised of the "convert, submit, or face the consequences" doctrine. What are you basing this claim on? facts, numbers, dates, places please. I'm sure that there have been mayn wars fought related to Islam, but I also know that there are millions of very peaceful Muslims around the world who abhore violence. no its not,but it's a good religion for who believes in it...you do feel good when you pray,and do good things,....but then when you think about how it started in the first place and the killing ,and takeover,even being forced to pray that way or you die, even at that time,I just shake my head,because I love this religion and some of the things it stands for...that being said ....in the west it is peaceful...other religions have almost than the same thing,but because of 9/11,and bush the media make it what it is...great question...good luck....this is my opinion......

IF Islam gave you only those choices then most of the world would've been Muslims ages ago and Christianity and other faiths would've been wiped out from middle east, asia, africa and some of europe. [4:90] "Exempted are those who join people with whom you have signed a peace treaty, and those who come to you wishing not to fight you, nor fight their relatives. Had GOD willed, He could have permitted them to fight against you. Therefore, if they leave you alone, refrain from fighting you, and offer you peace, then GOD gives you no excuse to fight them."



[4:91] "You will find others who wish to make peace with you, and also with their people. However, as soon as war erupts, they fight against you. Unless these people leave you alone, offer you peace, and stop fighting you, you may fight them when you encounter them. Against these, we give you a clear authorization."
