Question:
why is it that god does not answer my prayers?

Ok I'm a good person. I don't do drugs, I've helped a lot of people yet I pray and nothing works. The more effort and sacrifice I put the worst. Everything goes wrong and I feel emotionally drained. I was raped last year and I still have a long way to reach my goals since I'm just starting my bachelors. I have work study and my family pressures me to get another job. I'm even considering the military. But I just feel hopeless. What is the point of religion?

Forget God. Focus on what YOU can do to improve your life. Are you in counseling? Given the rape and the stress you are clearly under, you need therapy. Your school should have a counseling service. Take advantage of it.

There's a reason why work-study jobs are usually limited to a certain number of hours per week. That's about all anyone can handle on top of a full-time college schedule. You can't work more, not with the stress of school and the rape to cope with. A counselor can help you figure out ways to explain this to your family.

Please seek professional help. If you are already doing so, you need to tell your therapist that you don't feel you are coping, making any progress. I suspect you are depressed. Medication may be indicated.

Good luck.

dont take it personally, there are many reasons why God would not answer prayers. for me personally i received a few prayers that were answered miraculously, but as soon as i asked for something that does not pertain me, than i got buptkiss. ??? i received nothing. 34 years later i understand why. the things i was asking for was not mine for Him to Give. thats a major reason. alone. the scriptures in the new testament say we should not ask "amiss". asking without true intent is very common for not getting an answer.

asking for something that would condemn you is also something that will not work.

being proud is another reason, he doesn't sustain the proud in heart.

if many are called but few are chosen, you are probably not chosen.

as for many. one reason many are not chosen is because they do not understand one principle, the powers of heaven cannot be maintained when a person is in sin.

blessing come after obedience is given. we can only please God in faith. therefore repentance and forsaking sin is a major qualifier.

sometimes its better to have faith and not ask for anything, have a family and get a carear. there is no shame in raising a righteous family, and participating in politics to help the nation continue being a free constitutional land of liberty. there is shame in bribery and embezzlement.

D&C 46: 7

7 But ye are commanded in all things to ask of God, who giveth liberally; and that which the Spirit testifies unto you even so I would that ye should do in all holiness of heart, walking uprightly before me, considering the end of your salvation, doing all things with prayer and thanksgiving, that ye may not be seduced by evil spirits, or doctrines of devils, or the commandments of men; for some are of men, and others of devils.

Unanswered Prayer is the best proof I can offer christians that their religion is a lie. Why do you believe anything the bible says when your god fails to honor his word?

The question also needs to be asked: What kind of a father can sit back and watch one of his Daughters get raped if he has the power to stop it? Your god is supposed to be all powerful and all knowing. Doesn't that alone prove that he is not all knowing and all powerful?

Godless, you have taken that verse out of context. If you ask for a Corvette do you think our Father will deliver one? Of course not. That would be extremely selfish. However, if you ask to spread His Word, He will provide the bricks, but we must provide the sweat to make it happen.

To the one asking the question. God hears your prayers. We can document that in Revelation 5:8. But, sometimes we ask for things that are not necessarily good for us. What we think is best sometimes is not the best. Think of your child. They may want to eat that tub of ice cream, but as a parent you tell them no because you know they will have a big tummy ache after. The child does not understand why you said no, but you being the mature one know it was for the better of them.

It works the same way with our Father. Hang in there and stay in His Word.

What you need to keep in mind is that we still live in a sinful world and we will feel its effects. It's like a plane going down - doesn't matter whose fault it is, everyone goes down.

God doesn't always keep us from adverse situations, He is with us through them. What does it mean? It means that we allow Him to work out His plan through us. And, you would agree, our troubles often help us to become strong. Paul would say - 'When I'm weak, I am strong'.

HOW GOD ANSWERS OUR PRAYERS

16 Does Jehovah really answer prayers? Yes, indeed! We have a firm basis to be confident that the “Hearer of prayer” answers sincere prayers offered by millions of humans. (Psalm 65:2) Jehovah’s answer to our prayers may come in a variety of ways.

17 Jehovah uses his angels and his earthly servants to answer prayers. (Hebrews 1:13, 14) There have been many experiences of individuals who prayed to God for help to understand the Bible and were soon thereafter contacted by one of Jehovah’s servants. Such experiences give evidence of angelic direction of the Kingdom-preaching work. (Revelation 14:6) To answer our prayers offered in a time of real need, Jehovah may motivate a Christian to come to our aid.—Proverbs 12:25; James 2:16.

In response to our prayers, Jehovah can motivate a Christian to come to our aid

18 Jehovah God also uses his holy spirit and his Word, the Bible, to answer the prayers of his servants. He may answer our prayers for help to cope with trials by giving us guidance and strength by means of his holy spirit. (2 Corinthians 4:7) Often the answer to our prayers for direction comes from the Bible, where Jehovah gives us help in making wise decisions. Helpful scriptures may be found during our personal Bible study and as we read Christian publications, such as this book. Scriptural points that we need to consider may be brought to our attention by what is said at a Christian meeting or through the comments of a concerned elder in the congregation.—Galatians 6:1.

19 If Jehovah seems to delay in answering our prayers, this is never because he is not able to answer them. Rather, we must remember that Jehovah answers prayers according to his will and in his due time. He knows our needs and how to care for them far better than we do. Often he allows us to ‘keep on asking, seeking, and knocking.’ (Luke 11:5-10) Such perseverance shows God that our desire is very deep and that our faith is genuine. Furthermore, Jehovah may answer our prayers in a way that is not obvious to us. For example, he may answer our prayer regarding a particular trial, not by removing the difficulty, but by giving us the strength to endure it.—Philippians 4:13.

20 How thankful we can be that the Creator of this vast universe is close to all who call upon him properly in prayer! (Psalm 145:18) May we take full advantage of the precious privilege of prayer. If we do, we will have the joyous prospect of drawing ever closer to Jehovah, the Hearer of prayer.

God does not answer prayers because there is no god.

Maybe the most obvious answer is correct. There is no such thing as 'God'.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind. The first is that God reserves for Himself the right to choose both the timing and the means by which He answers prayers. We have to understand that His ways are not our ways and His timing is always perfect. We neither lose time by waiting nor gain time by trying to force His hand. He answered Abraham’s prayer for a son, but waited 25 years before doing so. The world is paying a huge price today for Abraham and Sarah’s refusal to wait upon the Lord.

Just because we don’t get something when we want it and in the exact way we want it doesn’t mean that God has stopped answering our prayers or keeping His promises. There may be some other things we have to take care of first, or God may choose another way to answer the prayer that we don’t see, a better way.

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. (Romans 15:4)

God has promised Israel a Kingdom and a King who will bring them peace. They’ve been praying for Him to keep that promise for thousands of years. The world, even much of the Christian world, laughs at them and tells them that God has forgotten them. It’s never going to happen, they say.

God is faithful, and He fully intends to answer their prayers and keep His promise. But there’s something they have to do first, and until they do it He has to wait. They have to recognize who their King is and restore their relationship with Him. Then God will act.

So it is with us, and this is the second thing to keep in mind. This may not sound familiar to those of you who’ve been taught “Christianity Lite” but there are two components to a believer’s relationship with God. One is called Union. It concerns our eternity and is irrevocable, guaranteeing our place in His Kingdom. (Ephesians 1:13-14) Union happens at the moment we hear the Gospel and believe it, and God seals His Holy Spirit within us.

The other is called Fellowship and it comes with Union. But Fellowship affects our life here on Earth and is subject to suspension. (1 John 1:8-9) When we fail to confess our sins, we temporarily suspend our relationship with God, because He can’t dwell in the presence of sin. We can’t lose our salvation (Union), but during those times when we’re out of Fellowship we don’t have the right to ask God for anything except forgiveness. And what’s more, we’ve stepped out of His protection and are fair game for the enemy’s mischief.

The Book of Job is an example of the difference between Union and Fellowship. Job’s righteousness made him proud, a sin in God’s eyes. When Satan asked to torment him, God had to agree in spite of the fact that Job was one of the most righteous men on Earth, because he hadn’t confessed his sin. As long as Job relied on his own righteousness he was vulnerable to attack, and none of his complaints could change that, even though he remained a child of God. When he confessed, God put a stop to the torment and restored him. The lesson Job learned through his ordeal (and that we’re supposed to learn as well according to Romans 15:4) is that when we justify ourselves, we condemn God. Whenever we start thinking that we don’t deserve something bad that’s happening to us, we in effect accuse God of being unjust. It’s part of our human nature to look outside of ourselves for the blame, but it delays our reconciliation with God.

For a New Testament example, read the Parable of the Prodigal Son. (Luke 15:11-32) The prodigal never stopped being his father’s son, but while he was living a sinful life he was out of fellowship, deprived of his father’s blessings. When he came to his senses and confessed, he was restored. All Christians have Union with God and are guaranteed a place in His Kingdom, but many live their whole lives out of Fellowship because of their unconfessed sins and miss out on untold blessings, stacking up mountains of unanswered prayers.

Because of the cross, maintaining our Fellowship is as easy as invoking 1 John 1:8-9. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

God is just and righteous and cannot lie. He has a 6000 year track record of unblemished performance. Whenever it seems like His promises aren’t coming true, you can bet that it’s due to our lack of understanding, not His lack of integrity.

The Only One God Allah, the Eternity, Who Created you,me and whole universe Says in Holy Quran Chapter 40 Verse 60. And your Lord said: "Invoke Me, [i.e. believe in My Oneness (Islamic Monotheism) and ask Me for anything] I will respond to your (invocation). Verily! Those who scorn My worship [i.e. do not invoke Me, and do not believe in My Oneness, (Islamic Monotheism)] they will surely enter Hell in humiliation!"

--

The Only One God Allah, the Eternity, Who Created you, me and whole universe knows, what to give and when to give you.

For example:

1. If you are a boy aged about 4 years old: If you ask your dad for a bicycle, he will bring it.

2. If you ask for a motor cycle, he will tell that he will buy it for after 16. Okay?

3. If you ask for a car, he will tell you, let you finish your college, Ok?

4. If you ask for a GUN, he will not buy a gun for you. NEVER.

Like this the Only One God Allah, the Eternity, Who Created you, me and whole universe, know what to Give and when to Give. But don't give up your hope.

- As He Says in Holy Quran Chapter 2 Verse 153. O you who believe! Seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer). Truly! Allah is with As-Sabirun (the patient).

2:155. And We will most certainly try you with somewhat of fear and hunger and loss of property and lives and fruits; and give good news to the patient,

8:46. And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute (with one another) lest you lose courage and your strength departs, and be patient. Surely, ALLAH IS WITH THOSE WHO ARE AS-SABIRUN (THE PATIENT).

40:55. So be patient (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). Verily, the Promise of Allah is true, and ask forgiveness for your fault and glorify the praises of your Lord in the 'Ashi (i.e. the time period after the midnoon till sunset) and in the Ibkar (i.e. the time period from early morning or sunrise till before midnoon) [it is said that, that means the five compulsory congregational Salat (prayers) or the 'Asr and Fajr prayers].

- The followings are for your good knowledge:

The Verses which are Said in Holy Quran by the Only One God Allah, the Eternity, (Who Created you, me and whole universe) are scientifically proofed.

By this the Only One God Allah has been Proofed.

SCIENCE & QURAN: The Holy Quran is Revealed from the Only One God Allah (Who Created you, me and whole universe) thru Angel Gabriel to Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) by VOICE, 1400 years ago, since then which is unchanged a single word from it's original in Arabic. Holy Quran Verses are Scientifically Proofed. Science is within 100 years old

BIG BANG: Holy Quran 21:30 "Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of Creation), before We clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?"

- Allah is calling the attention of the Unbelievers to reflect upon HIS Signs by stating how HE created the Universe.

Holy Quran 41:11 "Moreover, He Comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been (as) SMOKE: He said to it and to the earth: "Come ye together willingly or unwillingly." They said: "We do come (together), in willing obedience."

- Scientists say before the formation of galaxies, celestial matter was initially in the form of gaseous matter after the Explosion(big bang). but Qur'an describes it as SMOKE which is more accurate term than gaseous.

CREATIONISM: EVOLUTION is NOT correct. Some years before US Scientists and Doctors tried to transplant a monkey's heart to a Child. It didn't support. Because, the monkey's heart has 3 rooms. But the human's heart has 4 rooms. Also they tried to transfer monkey's blood to humans. Also didn't fit.

- Quran&Science: The Only One God Allah Says in Holy Quran: Chapter 6 Verse 2. He it is Who has created you from clay,...

32:8 Then He made his offspring from semen of worthless water (male and female sexual discharge).

9. Then He fashioned him in due proportion, and breathed into him the soul (created by Allah for that person), and He gave you hearing (ears), sight (eyes) and hearts. Little is the thanks you give!

82:7 Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion;

8. In whatever form He willed, He put you together.

- There are some more Quran Verses about Chromosome.

- There are Verses about Universe. Check thru "SearchTruth" site: 2:117, 3:47, 6:73, 19:35 & 40:68 .... When He Decrees, He only says to it : "Be!" - and it is.

SPEED OF LIGHT: (A Day equals to 1000 Years) Chapter 22 Verse 47. ....And indeed, a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of those which you count.

32:5. ....it will ascend to Him in a Day, the extent of which is a thousand years of those which you count. (Proofs given in Source).

64;2 He it is Who created you, then some of you are disbelievers and some of you are believers. And Allah is All-Seer of what you do.

CREATING UNIVERSE: 7:54. Indeed, your Lord is Allah , who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He covers the night with the day, [another night] chasing it rapidly; and [He created] the sun, the moon, and the stars, subjected by His command. Unquestionably,..

10:3, 11:7, 25:59, 32:4 & 50:38 : He who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days and then...

Created Earth in Two Days : 41:9. Say, "Do you indeed disbelieve in He who created the earth in two days and attribute to Him equals? That is the Lord of the worlds."

GOD DIDN'T TAKE REST ON 7TH DAY. IF HE TOOK, WHO TAKE CARE OF THE CREATIONS, CREATED BY HIM ON THAT DAY.

If He took rest, who took care of His Creations & Creating?

Verse 10. And He placed on the earth firmly set mountains over its surface, and He blessed it and determined therein its [creatures'] sustenance in four days without distinction - for [the information] of those who ask.

Verse 12. And He completed them as seven heavens within two days and inspired in each heaven its command. And We adorned the nearest heaven with lamps and as protection. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.

EXPANDING UNIVERSE: Chapter 51 Verse 47. With power did We construct the heaven. Verily, We are Able to extend the vastness of space thereof.
