I have no proof of evolution- despite the evidence of fossils, carbon dating and all that stuff... The past can be SO subjective (anyone with brothers and sisters who remember family life differently can attest), so I cannot state that it is 100% true.
However, there is no objective evidence to state that evolution is false either.
Same thing for God. There's alot of folks who'se subjective experiences leads them to believe in a "higher power" and some scientific objective evidence to point towards powers which we cannot understand (ah physics and complex math!).
You can't exactly prove god/higher being false, either.
I don't really see how either theory is really in opposition...
Assuming that evolution and the "big bang" are true-- "the big bang" could just be the scientific way of describing "god" and "the first movement".
Who is to say how long a day is, in genesis?
Can't the fossil evidence of, say, the evolution from fish to amphibian... be interpreted as stages in the lump of clay that god was forming? Really, you can't go from a blob of clay to the finished product in an instant- at first it looks like an amoeba or primitive creature, and then it begins to form arms, becomes refined, and... wow- you have a clay sculpture of a human! This is called theistic evolution, btw.
Really, I don't see how they contradict unless you take the bible absolutely literally.
(BTW, I believe in a higher power, from subjective experiences; I also believe that humans and all life forms evolved over time, and everything that lives is in the constant process of continuing to change/adapt/evolve)
