No way. Sorry, but if some of the world's greatest scientists can't find a reason why the earth would end in 2012 then I'll believe them. Besides, what if there is a Mayan calendar that nobody's found yet?

2012 being the end of the world is a HOAX!!!!! I don't know who told you that "Planet X" will hit the earth, as in my opinion no credible scientific community member or group has said that there is a Planet X out there, let alone that it will hit earth in the near future. If there was a Planet X, I believe that it would have been seen and photographed by our telescopes or detected by astronomers. I viewed a television program where it was stated the Mayans themselves did not believe that 2012 would be the end of the world, just that it would be the end of their calendar cycle. As to radiation from the sun, 2012 is based upon the Mayan calendar, so I don't see how anyone can say that the two are related. This will just be like Y2K, lots of hype with nothing behind it. Check out how many people and/or groups have said the earth would end in the last 1000 years, It's probably to many to count, and they were all wrong. Hope this puts your mind at ease.

Doomsday theories will come and go. The world has a fascination with the end. The Mayans didn't predict the end of the world, it predicting the end of that calender and a major change. It could be a positive change, a negative change, or more likely...no change at all.

And I guess the planets are supposed to align, well when I was in middle school (spring of 2002) that happened and I remember the teacher telling us it'll cause volcanic eruptions, solar flares, etc and absolutely nothing happened.

So, Nay I say!

This question is asked at least once every day.

The idea that the world is going to end in 2012 is a fantasy developed around the fact that the Mayan calendar ends on December 12, 2012.

The easiest explanation for the Mayan calendar not going beyond that date is that the Mayans may just not have gotten around to updating their calendar.

It's a fact- there will be a 2012. And it's a very very interesting astronomy event. The earth's precession- a cycle that takes 26,000 years to complete. Google about it.

So, once every 26,000 years, the planets all line up, and the sun sets "into the mouth of the oroborus" which is the picture given to what the milky way "clouds" look like.

Just google about it, it's interesting. Mayans were fantastic astronomers- which is very amazing.

But it's not the end of the world!!!!

What the hell? Only god knows when The world will end. There will be signs before the world ends. These are the major signs:

# Masih ad-Dajjal (The AntiChrist)

# The Mahdi

# The appearance of Masih al-Isa (Jesus Christ), the son of Mary (peace be upon him)

# Yajuj and Majuj (Gog and Magog)

# The destruction of the Kabah and the recovery of its treasure

# Emergence of the Beast

# The smoke

# Three major landslides (one in the East, one in the West, and one on the Arabian peninsula)

# The wind will take the souls of the believers

# The rising of the sun from the west

# The fire will drive the people to their final gathering place

# Three blasts of the trumpet (fear & terror, death, resurrection)

remember the large Hydron collider, the moving into the age of aquarius, people just seem to like scaremongering!!

I really think its fiction, but I'm a Christian, so I believe that Jesus will come & judge us at the end of days, I'd love to see that in my lifetime... but I don't think the Mayans, seeing as they died out themselves & didnt see that one coming, or the hippies have anything to worry about apart from maybe moving into a new age, not the end of the world :|

2012 is the time of an unusual astrological event that meant to mark a step forward in the spiritual development of our planet as a whole as our sun and the main stair of the pleiades, Alcyone, move into the 'photon band' of the milky way.

It won't be apocalyptic. It'll be just another day - but perhaps the start of something great X

*sigh* Fireball

Anyways she is right about one thing. It is fiction. It is simply the predicted day of the end of the age of Pisces and beginning of the age of Aquarius. There is no end of the world prophecy that is true by Mayans or "god"

If any of those so called predictions "of the world will be many different kinds of f'd up." ever came true (and there have been numerous ones)...

you wouldn't be sitting on your butt typing that question.

Do some research...

The Maya calender stops at 2012.

Many theories exist, however, the Maya may have envisioned a magnetic polar flip. Check out the link below, very interesting and also click on 'See a reversal'

The end of the Mayan long count is nothing but the beginning of a new Mayan long count.... but that doesn't even count... because there are no more Mayans.

When the Sun goes boom, so will the Earth.

It's not going to happen for quite a while yet though, so just relax.

Yes it will happen, but dont think about armageddon as something that will kill you.

It is a MAJOR Change....For the better
I have my doubts

Mayans could not even predict their own demise.
