In 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 the Bible speaks about the coming of “The Wicked One” or the Anti-Christ. It refers that “deceit” will be used as his source of power and says:

3 Do not let anyone deceive you in any way.... 9 The Wicked One will come with the power of Satan 10 and use every kind of wicked deceit on those who will perish. They will perish because they did not welcome and love the truth so as to be saved. 11 And so God sends the power of error to work in them so that they believe what is false. (Emphasis added) 12 The result is that all who have not believed the truth, but have taken pleasure in sin, will be condemned. (St. Jerome Catholic Study Bible)

So error (erroneous ideas) is what leads anyone and even whole societies into doing things they should or should not do. If Satan can not subdue a persons will into disobeying God, he resorts to trying to deceive a person into believing something that is false. Even Jesus Christ was tempted by Satan quoting scripture, but Jesus saw through Satan’s deceitful fallacies. How many times then has Satan used scripture to deceive others? Could “liberalism” be the edifice of deceit upon which Satan is imposing upon the world scene today?

On December 8, 1864, Pope Pius IX published The Syllabus of Errors. In short he was condemning “liberalism.” The popes' condemnation and concern about “liberalism” is a valid one. The following distinction about “liberalism” is made in a religious context:

Liberalism is the dogmatic affirmation of the absolute independence of the individual and of the social reason. Catholicity is the dogma of the absolute subjection of the individual and of the social order to the revealed law of God. (28)

In this context every person and society conforms themselves to God’s will or defies it.

Abraham Lincoln made the comment, “Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my great concern is to be on God’s side.” Since the time of Adam and Eve people have been deceived and disobeyed “Divine authority” to do their own will. Following the authority of the Church that Christ instituted should be trusted since Christ Himself said, “the gates of Hell will not prevail against it.” (Mt. 16:18)The reasoning of Protestantism is not logical or reasonable:

Protestantism naturally begets toleration of error. Rejecting the principle of authority in religion, it has neither criterion nor definition of faith. On the principle that every individual or sect may interpret the deposit of Revelation according to the dictates of private judgment, it gives birth to endless differences and contradictions. Impelled by the law of its own impotence, through lack of any decisive voice of authority in matters of faith, it is forced to recognize as valid and orthodox any belief that springs from the exercise of private judgment. Therefore does it finally arrive, by force of its own premises, at the conclusion that one creed is as good as another; it then seeks to shelter its inconsistency under the false plea of liberty of conscience. (Liberalism Is A Sin 8)

The word “Protestant” is derived from the word “protest” and in which case these people are protesting Christ’s Church. “Religious beliefs or unbelief’s have come to be mere matters of opinion.”

How do they convince others their faith is the true faith?

To effect a confusion of ideas is an old scheme of the devil. Not to understand clearly and precisely is generally the source of the intellectual error. In time of schism and heresy, to cloud and distort the proper sense of words is a fruitful artifice of Satan, and it is as easy to lay snares for the intellectually proud and for the innocent. Every heresy in the Church bears testimony to Satan’s success in deceiving the human intellect by obscuring and perverting the meaning of words. Arianism was a battle of words and owed its long-continued success to its verbal chicanery. Pelagianism and Jansenism showed the same characteristic, and today Liberalism is as cunning and obscure as any of its heretical predecessors. (Liberalism Is A Sin 55)

This is how people fall from the truth. Remember, even Satan used Scripture to tempt Jesus. Satan will decieve those he can not corrupt physically or spiritually.

What Pope Benedict qouted and actually said is right on, not hateful or racist, it's truthful. To force faith by sword is evil and inhuman. By the way Catholics are Christians to the uniformed and Al Killya, and fundalmentist Islamists already have the belief to kill those that don't accept Allah and have for hundreds of years. Heck check out the Lebanon civil war Christians and Muslims had armies that fought, in Darfar currently radical Muslims are killing Christians in the south, genecide. And in Asia. The islamic tidal wave aims to create a great "Caliphate" including Indonesia, Malaysia and the southern areas of Thailand and Philippines. Radical Islamist are killing Christians, the Tiger wars are happening. This all BEFORE the Pope's speach in a college. Educate yourselves. Read your bible and pray for guidence- is hate and slader what are commanded? God's the judge remember? Oh and what is Al Quedia's goal? To build the great "Caliphate" in Iraq, the ancient Babylon. The great whore is not the Catholic Church. For Catholics I think reading what else Pope Benedict said on the same day is refreshing, http://www.ewtn.com/library/papaldoc/b16bavaria12.htm

a heretic is an internal dissenter; non-Catholics are not heretics, they're simply non-belivers. Joh Kerry, for instamce would be a heretic for his cowardly positions. I would agree if you think the church needs to purge itself from within by expelling and excommunicating "Catholics" who openly defy the church: depraved priests and the bishops who idly ignored their actions as well as prominent entertainers, individuals and political figures like the one that I've already mentioned. People need to know that these people don't represent our church.

And to the biggots who don't like Catholics: I don't agree with and nor do I bash your religion; if you don't ike ours then don't join it, and keep you're opinion to yourself.

I dont agree that we should be waging a global holy war or crusade. the church's position on unjust and unprovoked wars has been pretty clear and firm; as were the completely justified statements of the Holy Father this week.

Heresy, by definition is a falsehood that is preached about the Catholic faith by another Catholic.

Islamic beliefs are false because they're simply not true, but they don't constitute heresy, as such.

Just falsehoods.

The stuff White Tiger just wrote is much closer to heresy than the stuff Muslims believe.

White Tiger and Muslims are both totally wrong, though.

confident, i'm a training Catholic. I do experience undesirable while, at Christmas and Easter, all those "two times a 365 days" Catholics come out - yet then I understand that it must be worse. it ought to ok be achievable they do no longer come out in any respect. that's trouble-free for somebody, who attends Church a week, to circulate to Mass on Christmas, Easter, and Holy Days of criminal duty. I often ask your self in simple terms how lots greater durable that's for human beings, who do no longer attend Mass often, to get out and visit Mass some time consistent with 365 days. we will not think of it, because of the fact all of us understand what we would be lacking. i do no longer think of those "two times a 365 days" varieties can totally delight in what that's they are lacking. in the event that they did, they had be at Mass greater suitable than two times a 365 days. i'm proud to be Catholic, so that's all the greater disappointing as quickly as I see human beings taking an "oh hum: strategies-set in direction of their vocation as lay Catholics. All we are able to truly do approximately that's pray, and want that they occasion we set will, sometime, inspire them to start up residing the Catholic existence variety all 365 days around.

Our pope spoke the truth but was forced to apologize, the world is not quite ready for a holy war we have to wait till Iran has a nuclear bomb first, then we will be able to justify a holy war if any of us are still left after they drop one or two on us.

Yes there's only one true christian church indeed, and it's the gnostic one. The Catholics (St. Peter & Co.) hijacked the Lord's church (operated by Jesus & his Consort MM, Thomas, James, Judas) and introduced all sorts of Roman Mythos.

Greatest lie ever told ==> "Jesus is god"

Muslims are right it's not heresy: Jesus was a prophet, nothing more.

true, but your arguements will only ignite harsh criticism, even if it is the truth! When someone (the pope) reveals the truth about islam then muslims get mad because they don't want to admit what islam is causing terrorism! PRAY for the world to find Jesus Christ!>

The enemies of Catholicism shall not prevail against the Roman Catholic Church because Jesus says so himself,

"And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven’" (Matt. 16:18-19).

Well with that statement I have to say the Catholic Church it self at the Vatican is a false church ran by Satan. This is the story unfolding in Revelations and what will happen to the Vatican:

Revelation 17

1And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:

2With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

3So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

4And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

5And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

6And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

7And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.

8The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

9And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

10And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

11And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

12And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

13These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

14These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

15And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

16And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.

17For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

18And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

Revelation 18

1And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.

2And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

3For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

4And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

5For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

6Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.

7How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

8Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

9And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,

10Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

11And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

12The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,

13And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

14And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.

15The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

16And saying, Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!

17For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,

18And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!

19And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

20Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

21And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

22And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;

23And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

24And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.
