For Christians. You have more than 20 different versions of the Bible which you consider as the word of God!?

Can God be so inconsistent? but Allah is high above what they associate with him!
In Islam, 1.4b. people are reading one book, one version sicne 1431 years ago and will remain so unchanged till the day of judgement "Allah promised to protect his book".
What does that tells you ?

Sincere, How many versions of the Quran do you think there are? Does that also make Allah inconsistant? Not only that but Allah also claims the Torah and Gospel as his word that Muslims claim he did not keep... so apparently he is not only inconsistant but he does not care too much for the truth

Worldwide, there are 24,800 copies of these original manuscripts. These include the Codex Vaticanus (325-350 AD) located in the Vatican library and the Codex Siniaticus (350 AD) located in the British Museum.

While the oldest text of the Quran is hundreds of years after the time of Muhammad?

If the gospel has been protected from 325 why doesnt Quran have the original from the time of Muhammad? If Allah is only protecting the Quran.

In the Quran Allah says he will protect the Quran..why has he since better protected the gospel? Why would text of the Gospel date 325? Wouldn't that mean the original Quran would be availalbe if it was being protected better by Allah? Shouldn't there be a Quran form 600 or somewhere reasonably close?

I can direct you to a Gospel text that predates Islam by hundreds of years.

Why is it that God has protected this Gospel you call corrupt but you can not direct me to a Quran close to the time of Muhammad which was hundreds of years later?

Unless you know your god is a liar he should not have to promise to keep his word.

God's Word to us / Holy Bible was written in Hebrew and Greek and translated into various languages for Everyone to be able to read it. The King James Version has been the most sold Bible for hundreds of years. The NIV / New International Version is simply in more up-to-date English. And the New King James Version simply takes the 'thee's and thou's' and such and changes it to 'you and your's'. So it's our attempt to have the original God's Word in a more reader-friendly fashion. But lots of folk prefer the old-English used in the King James Version. Otherwise a person can learn to read the Greek and Hebrew and some Aramaic and read the English translation in the original languages.

God's Word says the same thing -- we are not to subtract from or add to His Word. He is the First and Last -- the Alpha and the Omega the Beginning and the End. Revelation.

John 1 : 1 " In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word Was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him and without Him nothing was made that was made. 1 - 3.

It tells me that your religion is stuck in the middle ages as far as learning and understanding more about Allah.

I have noticed that the Qur'an has been translated into many different languages. Knowing the no language translation is perfect, how has that effected Allah's ability to protect his book?

The versions of the Bible represent a veeriety of languages, and the changes that every dynamic language goes through over the course of time. Apparently, because of the translations of the Qur'an, you do not have a version of the Qur'an that has remained unchanged for 1431 years.
2010-06-24 21:38:58 UTC
Allah is not the God of the Bible that is what it tells me..because Allah only allows his followers to know one language. The God of the Bible allows His books to be translated so that everyone in every language may understand. You obviously don't know anything about translations and that really makes Islam look bad because your so ignorant on basic facts. Jesus is the Word of God and Jesus can not be translated the Bible is the inspired word of God and though there may be little changes the message of Christianity remains the same no matter what translation or language it is in. Jesus died on the cross and only by the blood of Jesus can one enter paradise that is the heart of the Bible the heart of the Message of Christianity and the heart of God for He loved His Son for His Son was willing to lay His life down and pick it up again. Allah is not God and Islam and the Quran is not from God Muhammad was a false prophet. May the Peace of Jesus Christ our Savior be with you and open your eyes to the truth that is in found only in Him.

It tells me that you understand nothing about translation, or what it means.

The Qur'an is not only in Arabic. It's translated into English, Spanish, French, German, etc. There are modern Arabic versions as well as the original.

Translation is a process -- whether it's used on a Bible or a menu -- of rendering something from its original language into a different language. That's it. It's no big secret. There are translations that are helpful for study (such as the King James, which is a literal word-for-word translation) or there are translations for readability (like the New Living Bible, which is meant to be simple to understand and easy to read) and a combination of both of these features (like the New International, which is a thought-for-thought translation.)

So you just don't know what you're talking about.

Arguments like this, which are all too common from your fellow Muslims, actually do a great deal to weaken the case for Islam. When you are so ignorant of such things and yet advocate Islam, it simply reflects poorly on the religion and suggests it can't stand up to scrutiny. And it can't.

How many interpreters does allah have? Do they all agree on the meanings and application of everything recorded, unchanged since 1431 years ago?

You certainly realise not all muslims agree on the Quran or the hadiths...otherwise they would not be striving with each other so vehemently.

Christians do not very often come to blows over one translation, or another . Shia and Sunni are often violently opposed. Why is this?

Also...the majority of world muslims do not have arabic as their heart tongue...why is a version of the Quran in ones own language less authentic than the arabic version? Does the desert sand always have to flow from the book? You need to be careful when throwing stones in a glass house.

1) Bible translations are exactly that: translations. they are accurate and reliable and match exactly the earliest manuscripts found. the earliest translation into English, the old King James Version, was again translated because of change in the English language to make it easier to understand by people of today versus the people of the 1600s. subsequent translations are for the same reason. also, the Bible has been translated into many other languages.

2) Paraphrased versions of the Bible i do not adhere to. that's where someone says, i will re-write the Bible in my own words so others can understand it easier. although their intentions may be good, i don't read these versions and stick with actual translations.

3) my friend, the one book, one version you speak of has been preserved the same as the Bible. i do not doubt it has remained the same for the past 1431 years, just as i do not doubt the Bible has remained the same since it was given to us, somewhat longer than 1431 years ago. you will note that the Quran has been translated as well into other languages. a translation is a translation. i am not saying the meaning has changed, i believe your translations are the same as the Biblical ones--as accurate as possible when translating one language to another.

4) you are correct, God has promised to protect His word and He has told us in the Bible (which precedes the Quran) that if anyone, even an angel from heaven, preaches a message contrary to what is in the Bible, not to believe it. this includes the Quran.

I've heard it said that unless the Qur'an is read, quoted, etc, in Arabic - it doesn't count. How sad! To limit the "word of God" to Arabs. What a small-minded god the one who inspired the Qur'an must be if that is true.

I have an English version on my computer by one translator, and a bound book of the Qur'an by another translator. I guess that makes two versions, both invalid???? in your eyes!

Fortunately, I know German, Scandinavian languages, French, English, and some Japanese. In all of these languages I have the Bible. I also have many English translations. It is true that sometimes one translation is better in a verse than another is, but they really do say the same thing whether it is German, Norwegian, Danish, French (two versions), English (many translations).

So are you unhappy with the richness of our Bible? In so many languages, translated by so many fine scholars, giving us every kind of nuance that is so hard to render when translating from one language to the other. For example, the English nouns lack gender; the French don't - this gives us extra information about things when reading about sheep, and animals when referred to since at times this extra information is actually necessary for a really deep understanding of a particular scripture.

Yes, the devil has changed and reinterpreted the Holy Bible into many different books including the Quran but as the Dead Sea Scrolls have proved the Holy Bible King James Bible has not changed.

God protects His Word and God gave His Word at Creation and in the Garden of Eden and the seventh from Adam, named Enoch, God gave the Hebrew language. Enoch wrote of the world before Noah's Flood and the world at the endtimes and Noah brought this through the flood, then God gave His commandments to Moses and then His prophets. The Holy Bible and God's prophets have never been wrong. Daniel was told the Holy Scriptures would be sealed up until the endtimes and many would run to and fro and knowledge would be increased. We live in that day.

The devil also gave Joseph Smith the Mormon Bible and we have another false religion like the Quran. The devil had a guy named Russell start the Jehovah Witnesses and they got around to changing the Bible to suit their religion also. The devil has a way of deceiving people and getting them to change God's Word to suit what the devil wants.

The truth is God said that heaven and earth will pass away but His Word would not. Almighty God has protected His Word and the Dead Sea Scrolls proved the Torah, the Old Testament, had not been changed.

Including the Quran, we have 21 different versions then. In the Holy Bible, God said that He gave His Word to Jacob. God didn't say He gave His word to Muhammad. God said He gave His Word to Jacob. And the reason I believe in the King James Bible version is because another Hebrew name for Jacob is James. The Jews have always protected the Word of God, because God chose them to do this. They are also the only nation with a God-given Deed to the land of Israel. God calls Jerusalem His land and God calls the Jews His people and God told the rest of us that He would bless those who bless Israel and He would curse those who curse Israel. God can do whatever He wants to Israel, but we cannot. God has used Israel as an example to the World and man either believes God or man doesn't believe God.

Dude, the Bible is also a history book. It's simply reporting what happened. It's not always endorsing what happened. Lot's incest was wrong...but it happened and it had to be reported because ti was the result of getting drunk! Remember Noah? - he got drunk too. Please actually think about your arguments before you repeat someone elses. Muhammad married a Catholic Nun. The whole religion was created by the Catholic church to rid parts of Europe and Africa of the type of Christianity that the Catholic Church didn't agree with (Spain, Italy, Northern Africa). I don't worship a God that is blood thirsty nor one that wants to dominate this world - Jesus said that his Kingdom is not of this World - all you Islamists talk about is world domination - you can have this world - it's going to be destroyed very soon. I won't be here. You say that Jesus was just a good man! LOL He said that he was the Son of God. That makes him either a liar ...or... the Son of God. You can't have it both ways.

No we do not, you have been misled. We have many translations, in every language.

And no, Muslims have a version in English as well. What does that say about Allah? Can he not keep his people speaking the same language for a mere 1431 years?

ForMuslims. You have more than 20 different versions of the quran which you consider as the word of God!?

Can God be so inconsistent?

The Warsh quran, Qalun quran, al-Bazzi quran, Qunbul quran, al-Duri quran, al-Suri quran, Hisham quran, Ibn Dhakwan quran, Khalaf quran, Khallad quran, al-Duri quran, Abu'l-Harith quran, Hafs quran, Ibn `Ayyash quran, Ibn Wardan quran, Ibn Jamaz quran, Ruways quran, Rawh quran, Ishaq quran, Idris al-Haddad Quran and so on and so forth.

Also, The following verses differ between the Warsh version (popular in Africa) and the Hafs versions (popular in Middle East) of the Quran: 7:57, 9:37, 2:259, 3:81, 6:96, 1:4, 2:140, 2:125, 3:146, 2:132, 91:15, 2:132, 3:133, 5:45, 2:139, 3:81, 2:259, 2:214, 2:9, 2:184 & 28:48.

*(looks like allah could not protect his book)*

A very simple way to find out the Truth, very painfully, is to go to Saudi Arabia carrying a non-Wahabi Quran.

They'll seize the copy and burn it and give you 200 lashes on the spot for the first offense. If you survive that and still insist on being foolhardy, well, you'll literally lose your head over it.

Allah is inconsistent and cannot even protect it's book.
2010-06-21 05:33:17 UTC
The reason why there are different versions is due to the language of people- NASB is the closest to the Hebrew texts, but is harder for others to read. NIV and ESV are the easiest to read. KJV was written in the language of the people at the time in England of the 1600s. The versions of the Bible are meant to preserve the meaning of God's Word. These versions are consistent. People need to understand what they are reading and not everyone can understand Hebrew and Greek, thus making the Bible available for all to read.

Chrisitans believe (and so do Muslims) that God/Allah is for all men.

The Christians translated their scripture into millions of languages so that people who are not educated in the classic Greek and Hebrew can still have access to the word of God. Different translators in different times may choose different words. For example, the King James version (17th century) will say 'Thou shalt' while the New International (20th century) says "You should". The meaning is the same. It is also the same as the meaning of the original. In this way, God's word can go to even the semi-literate.

Muslims, on the other hand, believe that the Qua ran should be read in Arabic. People who are not educated enough to read Arabic are second class Muslims and should just shut up and listen to their clerics.

What this tells me is that Allah is a god for the elite, while God is God of everyone. It also tells me that Allah is not powerful enough to protect his text from translation errors.

Your look at what is so obvious is skewed, possibly by an Priest of Islam. There are NOT many versions of the bible as you say, there are many translations of the Bible just as there are many of the same of your book for there is a translation from language to language so that we all may be able to read. Although both of us know that Islam is a religion developed by a Monk who had been excommunicated by the Christian Church who sired a son of a wife of another man. This monk raised this son to become Mohammed and along the line wrote the Koran with hatred toward the Christian Church. Do not push this for I KNOW ( as you do) the true story of this man made faith. IT IS NOT OF GOD!

You can't be serious.

God is not "inconsistent" but He is not limited by human limitations.

I'm not sure if I have 20 different versions but I do have several different

ones amongst the 60 or so Bibles that I do own. I do learn from each and

every one of the translations that I own and do find it is possible to see

which is from God and which is from man.

I hate for it to look like I'm defending Christianity or the Bible . . . but it is primarily just different translations. They translate it differently so that different groups of people can better understand it. I've always liked the KJV, because at the very least you get a book of literary quality. But since people don't like the Old English / Shakespearian type talk - they modernize it. Make it more palatable to the general public.

Are you saying the Qu'ran has never been translated into a different language? I have an English Qu'ran on my iPod atm. I didn't realize it was written in English . . . and even though I understand your point, it's ridiculous. It doesn't make the Qu'ran more trustworthy. It's still largely a plagiarization, after all.

Both books are equally absurd.

Satan has done a great job in confusing people today and false religion is the way he is doing it. The Bible is the ONLY true word of God and will remain so right through the end of this system of things. Read it and learn the TRUTH.

We have different versions of the Bible for the people who lived in different times for the languages they spoke. For example, a King James Version (KJV) is written for people who lived 400 years ago, while the New Living Translation (NLT) is written for people who live in the modern times. Of course, they are both designed for English speaking people. The versions of the Bible are just designed for one to understand the context. The message does not change.
Susan

But nobody knows the meaning, is it?

Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth,

exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through

the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.“ All scripture

is given by inspiration of God” (2 Timothy 3:16).One of the greatest miracles of the Bible is its unity. Even though the 66 books of the Bible were written …On three continents,In three languages,

Over a period of about 1,500 years,By about 40 different people with different educations,

backgrounds, and professions (kings, shepherds, scientists, attorneys, a general, fishermen, priests, and a physician) …… their teachings as a whole remain amazingly in harmony

with one another. Talk about astounding! Even three witnesses of an accident often offer wildly contradicting versions of events.Yet the Bible reads as if written by one great mind.

The Bible, in part or whole, has been translated into nearly 2,000 languages. The first complete English versions of the Bible were made by John Wycliffe in 1379.Later in 1526, William Tyndale was arrested and executed for creating his own English translation. The first book printed on movable type was the German Bible by Johannes Gutenberg in 1455. Between 1815 and 1975, 2.5 billion Bibles were printed, and it remainsthe most widely distributed and influential book in the world.

Other reasons are that there are so many biblical prophecies which have apparently been fulfilled;

and archaeological confirmations of biblical accounts have been recorded outside the Bible. Take,

for instance, a number of Babylonian documents* which describe the same worldwide flood as written about in Genesis 6–9.

BIBLE:This Book Contains the Mind of God, The state of Man, The way of Salvation,The doom of

G-d is not inconsistent nor inconstant. It is as though we see Him through a prism, and from different angles. The interpretation of G-d's word into human language and the further changes seen in translating Hebrew and Greek is the root cause of differing texts. That, and man's later embellishments, such as with the Q'uran.

That sounds like something on Alladin.

The super human you seek is not dead. His name is God, the Great I AM. He had a super Son that is now a man in the heavens. His name is Jesus Christ. He didn't die for one sect of people but He gave His life for the whole world (John 3:16)

Jesus and God is very much alive and active in the lives of those who have faith in Them.

It doesn't matter what versions of Bible have come on the scene, God IS and He has made Himself known to us by way of creation or mother nature, as we call it (Romans 1:16-23). He has given us life through His Son Christ to live it like it's golden. It is a discipline process and not everybody will master it. It's our spirit man over matter, not mind over matter. The spirit is willing but the flesh (body & mind) is weak, but humans are without excuse.

I live for Christ because He lives for me, interceeding for me in the heavens before God to offer forgiveness for my sins. My soul loves Jesus and it has to become real to you before you realize it's true. The Book of ISAIAH 6 is so true about how people reason. And then we think that we are excused by what we believe. If God said it, it is a done deal, if not you are wasting your time and others with wrong thinking and erronious ideas.

Dear friend, have you read the following? Please read it.

Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 54, Number 421

The Prophet asked me at sunset, "Do you know where the sun goes (at the time of sunset)?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "It goes (i.e. travels) till it prostrates Itself underneath the Throne and takes the permission to rise again, and it is permitted and then (a time will come when) it will be about to prostrate itself but its prostration will not be accepted, and it will ask permission to go on its course but it will not be permitted, but it will be ordered to return whence it has come and so it will rise in the west. And that is the interpretation of the Statement of Allah: "And the sun Runs its fixed course For a term (decreed). that is The Decree of (Allah) The Exalted in Might, The All-Knowing.

He is the one who made Quran and Allah. Allah is Mohammad's creation. You should not bring the book forged by this ignorant man to speak to Christians. Bible is only one book and we do not call bible the "word of God" but we call it the "inspired word of God". The word of God according to bible is Jesus Christ. Jesus was born on earth through the word God spoke. So he is the only one who is called the word of God. Have read different versions of bible? You go and read them and only then will you understand the uniqueness of this only Holy Book.

The earliest parts of the bible date back 3300 years ago and have not changed at all. It has only been translated into different languages so that everybody can understand it and so that you do not have to have had access to education to understand it. The bible is for absolutely anybody at any time. I also like the idea that God speaks to me in my own language and in a way that is relevant. He is living and with me now, not something that happened a long time ago so that I have speak an ancient language to talk to Him.

The differences among them DON'T CHANGE THE MESSAGE. Despite the existence of many different versions of the Bible, the message it brings is basically THE SAME.

ALSALAM ALIKOM ..

this information can not understand it except those who have hearts to think , ears to hear , eyes to see

and by hearts bcz Allah says in the Quran that the heart is the one that thinks , and this fact was realised recently as the scientists found that the heart is having nervous cells from where the signals of thinkng transfered to the brain ..

the Quran has said that 1400 years ago before them .. bkz it is from Allah .. the creator of the universe .. so open your hearts so that you all will be able to see the truth .,. and if any one says that i dont want to read the Quran that is not bkz of you , that bkz the maker of the Quran does not want you to .. and there will be no loser except for those who choosed a way other than the way of the real GOD .. in case you didn't know there are many languages and languages change over time. each version says the same things just in different languages/dialects.

an example:

which is 1 of the 10 commandments?

"thou shalt not commit adultery"

"never commit adultery"

"do not commit adultery"

aren't each 3 of the phrases saying the same exact thing?

Actually you don't seem to know much about the Bible. There are lots of translation of the Bible into English but different versions is a deliberate distortion!

Yes, you are right there is only one version of the Qu'ran because every time that you try to debate or discuss the "questionable" material in the Qu'ran you are told you must speak Arabic to understand it... do you read it in Arabic? Otherwise you aren't actually reading a "true" version of the Qu'ran... you are reading a translation.

There are two main version of the Bible, the protestant and the Catholic. They translate the original languages of Greek and Hebrew and Aramaic into English and the Catholics include some extra books called the apocrypha. I don't count distortion such as the New World Translation as sincere translations, their deliberate distorions of the original Greek and Hebrew texts show the same lack of concern for the truth as you seem to like.

I have read the Qu'ran in English.... I'll rely on the Bible! Have you ever read the Bible?

The Qu'ran states in Surah 19 that the infant Jesus spoke and prophecied his own death and resurrection... that is right out of the Gnostic texts written centuries later. Maybe you should read the Bible, there was alot of effort made to make the texts as reliable as possible by choosing the texts written by the apostles themselves or those in the age the apostles were still alive.

Here is a start for you....

Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

NASB ©

"He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

NLT ©

"There is no judgment awaiting those who trust him. But those who do not trust him have already been judged for not believing in the only Son of God.

BBE ©

The man who has faith in him does not come up to be judged; but he who has no faith in him has been judged even now, because he has no faith in the name of the only Son of God.

Those who believe in him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

NKJV ©

"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Different translations... the meaning seems the same just different ways of phrasing it to provide clearer meaning to some that want to find the truth!

Here, you can also learn about the reliability of the Bible IF you want to cure your misconceptions.

Prof. Daniel B. Wallace (wrote the textbook on ancient Greek & Greek translation) in an interview in the book "The Case for the Real Jesus" says "It's disturbing that when it comes to the Christian faith, people don't really want, or know how, to investigate the evidence", I hope you want to learn.

And if they reject thee, so did their predecessors, to whom came their apostles with Clear Signs, Books of dark prophecies, and the Book of Enlightenment.

Can you tell me what the Book of Enlightenment is?

NRV is pretty good, and ASTV as well King James and also NIV is good ocassionally.,.. all have good and bad qualities... none are perfect or useless... (except maybe some of the simplified ones which are completely uselss)

Have you actually gone and read all of those versions to know that they are different? My guess is you haven't. They basically say the same thing, the translation was just improved upon.

They are all the word of God, but just different ways man has translated it. The Bible was not written in English. It was written in Hebrew and Greek.

Bill Said:

You are lying about the translations!

Putting your Spin on it!

Translation:

The meaning of a translation does not change because of what a word is understood to express. As long as it does not change the intent. That is it expresses the same meaning but clarifies it from one language to another.

Compare the following verse using several translations!

John 3:18

(ASV) He that believeth on him is not judged: he that believeth not hath been judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God.

(BBE) The man who has faith in him does not come up to be judged; but he who has no faith in him has been judged even now, because he has no faith in the name of the only Son of God.

(CEV) No one who has faith in God's Son will be condemned. But everyone who doesn't have faith in him has already been condemned for not having faith in God's only Son.

(DRB) He that believeth in him is not judged. But he that doth not believe is already judged: because he believeth not in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

(ESV) Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

(GNB) Those who believe in the Son are not judged; but those who do not believe have already been judged, because they have not believed in God's only Son.

Islam will cut your head off if you question anything!

*** Is this a Virtue??

Sharia advocates executing people who ask difficult questions that could be interpreted as criticism .

Ignorance is Bliss my Friend!

You are being Gulled into Hell !

Islam says to read the Bible!

What about Jesus?

Jesus Christ is without a doubt the Messiah :

The Old Testament gives us a thumbprint: "Its says that when you find the person that fits this thumbprint, that's the Messiah!"

Throughout History Jesus THE Christ is the only one who has had that thumbprint.

If you are A skeptic, I challenge you to study the historical facts about Jesus Christ -- His death, His resurrection, and the prophecies written hundreds of years before He came that show with pinpoint accuracy that Christ Jesus is THE Messiah!

Look at the odds of any one person fulfilling these prophecies.

A mathematician proved that the chance of any one person fulfilling even 8 of these Old Testament prophecies was :

One IN 10 to the 17th power OR 10.00000000000000000!

Those Odds would be like covering the earth with silver dollars placing them heads up and painting the back of one THEM GREEN!

And giving YOU all the silver dollars if you can pick up the silver dollar with the back painted GREEN in one try !

Oh I forgot to mention that Jesus Christ fulfilled 300 plus prophecies and about 436 details.

With that amount of evidence only a very dishonest OR foolish person rejects Him as the Messiah.

Psalms 28:3 Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.

Accept Him as Lord and Savior of your life

OR

Reject Him at your peril!

Your Choice!

Psalms 30:2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

(Psalms 2:12 KJV) Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
