McCain is a maverick. Sarah Palin is a maverick too. McCain knew how to catch Bin Laden but we did not elect him. Palin had experience because Alaska and Russia share a maritime border. Obama pals around with terrorists. Palin was mayor which is kind of like being a community organizer but it involves actual responsibility.

Obama supports death panels that would turn down Sarah Palin's son. Obama will give free health care to illegal aliens. Obama wrote a college thesis that said the founding fathers were silent on economic freedom.

We need Republican leadership to right this ship and get right with God.

1. Abortion and same sex marriage - Abortion is an issue which involves the Constitutional promise of privacy and the ability to make medical decisions for ourselves. Is it really a good American value to have the government telling you what you can and can't do with your own body? Since we grant married couples a number of legal rights and financial benefits we don't grant to cohabitating single people, it's a matter of legal equality that we allow same sex marriages. If so, then you and I have very different understandings of what "American Values" mean.



2. McCain as Maverick - A maverick is an unbranded range animal, considered legally to be property of the first person to brand it. It also can mean a dissenter. McCain had eight years in which to dissent with Bush, but except on the issue of waterboarding, he did little dissenting. McCain should have known how weak and incomplete the plan for the invasion of Iraq was, for example, but was a strong supporter of Bush.



3. Cut and run? As opposed to what? Stay and rot? Iraq was predicated on lies and bad information in the first place. How would staying another 10 years and sacrificing another 10,000 American lives have changed anything? And, by the way, it was Bush and the Iraqi government du jour which came up with the withdrawal timetable.

No, I do not. Bush is directly responsible for the deaths of thousands of people, put us in an insane amount of debt, and did more work for the good of big businesses than people. Also, the founding fathers were endorsers of "freedom of religion" and "separation of church and state," so to say that enforcing Christianity as law is "conservative" of the basic principal values of this country is laughable. If McCain personally knew how to catch Bin Laden, he would do it anyway, regardless of whether or not he became president. As a prominent politician, he could still be influential. People need to get right with God, Christians need to get right with God, we don't need a politician to teach us that. We need to look at our own hearts, not impose Christian culture on others. The plank-eye process described in the bible teaches us that. The Sermon on the Mount makes it clear that we are not to judge others but to change our heart ethic. Our personal decisions to call Jesus our Lord will influence our decision to live by His teachings and love our enemies as he taught.
