Can you describe the reason people of unbelief will choose not to read the proof of the faithful?

Question

If belief were a simple matter of reading the proof, and by that having their eyes opened, their understanding would be assured, then those who read the truth would immediately be changed. But that is not the case for those that read unbelieving, as opposed to those who read seeking truth.

They can read the same things, and yet come to different conclusions, so what is the missing element, the difference between those who come to faith, and those who do not.

I have read the whole bible. I have a degree in the Philosophy of Religion and I still don't believe in god or gods.



You could look at it the other way round. If the scales fell from your eyes you would see that it cannot possibly be true. - Gods making worlds in six days! Making me from Adam's Rib? Have you heard of anything more laughable - was he a magician?

The missing element is credulity. Those of us who don't believe are often more than happy to read what you call your "proof," but it has never passed muster. It's generally something like, "Look around you at the trees and flowers! I can't believe they could have gotten here without a God!" And that isn't going to convince anybody with any sense.

Are you saying that one has to believe in order to believe? That, as an unbeliever, i will never be able to 'see' the proof?

They chose to believe the lies of Satan rather than hear about the love of God, so they are perverting the truth into lies to suit themselves. They are on the road to eternal damnation.

Because it's not proof and most atheists were once religious so we know the song and dance and that it's BS.

I've read lots of 'proofs' of believers, and they're not 'proofs' at all, but baseless assertions, often very unpleasant ones.
