I've always been sort of intrigued and mystified by this stuff. Is it real? Is it against my religion? I'm a very curious person, but I don't wanna get involved in it if I will go to hell for it. I know what is says in the Bible about idols. If its okay to dabble in it where can I find out more about it? Seriously though, any witches or wiccans out there for some advice.

I know many fellow witches who Gnostic Christians. As the answers before me stated, do some reasearch and reading (Cunningham and Buckland are highly recogmended). There are many different Magical Paths many of wich don't follow the Bible or even believe in a Hell. Just do your reaserch and find what makes the most sense to you. And remember God (buy the Wiccan and Christian standards) is all loveing and very understanding and would not send you to hell for exploring something that interests you.

Blessed Be!

White magic is a way of connecting with your inner self and the universe as a whole to act together to help positive things happen. If you got down to basics, Christians practice white magic all the time, they just usually call it something else. Many people do the same thing, just under a different label.

"What is white magic?" Well first off, Magick is a tool used to bring about change. the terms of "white" or "black" magic are not used anymore due to trying to be more politically correct. The closest description is that "white" magick is for positive change.

"And is it against God and Christianity to do it?" I guess that depends upon your denomination of Christianity. but for the most part the Church doesn't want Christians doing magick. Personally I believe this is due to the fact that the Church is afraid that if people believe they have the power to bring about change themselves then they won't need the Church.

"Is it real?" Well it isn't what you see on TV, movies, or in Harry Potter books but yes it is real.

"Is it against my religion?" That is something you would have to ask your priest/minister/etc....

"where can I find out more about it?" There are several good books about magick, "Positive Magic: Ancient Metaphysical Techniques for Modern Lives" by Marion Weinstein is a very good read.

Well the NT says God will destroy all evil so where will hell be?

The Church labelled people witches who used herbs and potions to cure illnesses just as monks did at the time and horrifically murdered them.

When I go to a little secret wood nearby I intensely feel magic healing and invigorating power emanating from the trees, animals, birds and all of God's creation. If a person does anything with loving intent then of course God will be in it.

The term "white magic" has generally referred to any acceptable magic, while black magic was unacceptable magic. People who use the term today tend to define white magic as magic that does not cause harm to another, but many Wiccans and witches avoid the color coding altogether as unuseful and even problematic (I've witnessed people claim that since they were using "white magic" it was impossible to cause harm, as if the magic itself would correct for ethical issues instead of making the witch think about it)

As for Christianity, it depends how literally you take the Bible. There are a variety of specific magical practices that are forbidden, although even they can be arguable. For example, divination is forbidden, yet Christians up to and including popes consulted astrologers for centuries, so long as the astrologer tracked influences instead of claiming to predict actual events. There are Christian witches. Generally they take the Bible as being heavily influenced by the culture of the time and don't take it as rules to be followed in perpetuity. (Same reasoning behind Christians supporting homosexuals)

It IS against God and Christianity to dabble in white magic.

white or black magic ( not politically correct terms anymore) Generally white magic or good magick is used for physical, mental and spiritual healing thru the use of herbs, crystals and gemstones and candles..Many fundamentalist religions consider this evil but if using the herbs and gems God created is evil you must be the judge according to your own religous beliefs..Love and Light

White magic is a complete lie. There's no such thing. Any magic is black. Some try to separate magic into black and white based on the users intent. What a joke!

I've read everyone's reply, so I want to share something different than what they've had to say.

It is against God to do it, for one reason and one reason only.

When someone starts professing that they can do something without God's help - that means resorting to magick and relying on yourself and trusting man-made incantations - it is wrong.

Everything that we do and anything that we need help on, we should seek the Lord's help. This is what He wants us to do, to rely on Him. He is the only true and only source of power.

Witshcraft goes against Christianity.

To my knowledge, it is magic by the Wiccans to do "good".
2007-09-14 09:08:42 UTC
The bible is against any form of witchcraft.

And witchcraft isn't black or white, it's a tool for internal change. If you can change yourself, your perspective or habits or thoughts, you can change your world. I've found it to be much more like psychology than any supernatural mystical force. :D Symbolism, altered states of consciousness, self-hypnosis, positive reinforcement. They're all pretty powerful when used correctly.

christians will tell you that all magick is evil.

Truth is, there is no "white" or "black" magick, just magick. Every action has a consequence and that holds true for the esoteric. Dabble away. Be willing to accept possible outcomes, even the unforseen ones.

None of it really matters, because magic isn't real. If it were, however, it would certainly be against your religion if you were a Christian, unless you could prove it was some kind of Christ-caused miracle. In any sense, it is a moot point, because magic is not real anyway. There is nothing to really dabble in.

Check out some of Scott Cunningham's works: might I suggest with "The Truth About Witchcraft Today"? I carry extra copies to hand out to people who ask me about my religion- and to give to the fundies when they give me the Jesus pamphlets. :p

Dude the bible is very clear bout this.... it's wrong..... there is no difference between white magic and black magic. choose who u want to serve... God or satan... if u want to see magic go and read the bible... see wat elijah did? moses? joshua? jesus? paul? peter? dude we see so many miracles today... get to know God..... and you can also heal the sick and do all that.... leave the witchcraft alone..... unless u want satan to have a hold on your life....

Well, the Bible says to stray away from magic and fortune tellers and the like. So, if I were you, I would pretty much do just that.

Christians will say it is bad. God....You decide.

There is Christian based magick.

Think of it as Enochian style.
