MUHAMMAD: The Prophet Like Unto Moses

Long time after Abraham, God's promise to send the long-awaited Messenger was repeated this time in Moses' words. In Deuteronomy 18:18 , Moses spoke of the prophet to be sent by God who is:

1. From among the Israelite's "brethren", a reference to their Ishmaelite cousins as Ishmael was the other son of Abraham who was explicitly promised to become a "great nation".
2. A prophet like unto Moses. There were hardly any two prophets who were so much alike as Moses and Muhammad (peace be upon them both). Both were given a comprehensive law code of life, both encountered their enemies and were victors in miraculous ways, both were accepted as prophets/statesmen and both migrated following conspiracies to assassinate them. Analogies between Moses and Jesus overlooks not only the above similarities but other crucial ones as well (e.g. the natural birth, family life and death of Moses and Muhammad but not of Jesus, who was regarded by His followers as the Son of God and not exclusively a messenger of God, as Moses and Muhammad were, and as Muslims believe Jesus was).

THE AWAITED PROPHET WAS TO COME FROM ARABIA

Deuteronomy 33:1-2 combines references to Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. It speaks of God (i.e. God's revelation) coming from Sinai, rising from Seir (probably the village of Sa'ir near Jerusalem) and shining forth from Paran. According to Genesis 21:21 , the wilderness of Paran was the place where Ishmael settled (i.e. Arabia, specifically Mecca).
Indeed the King James version of the Bible mentions the pilgrims passing through the valley of Ba'ca (another name of Mecca) in Psalms 84:4-6 .
Isaiah 42:1-13 speaks of the beloved of God. His elect and messenger who will bring down a law to be awaited in the isles and who "shall not fail nor be discouraged till he have set judgment on earth." Verse 11 connects that awaited one with the descendants of Ke'dar. Who is Ke'dar? According to Genesis 25:13 , Ke'dar was the second son of Ishmael, the ancestor of prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

MUHAMMAD'S MIGRATION FROM MECCA TO MEDINA: PROPHESISED IN THE BIBLE?

Habakkuk 3:3 speaks of God (God's help) coming from Te'man (an Oasis North of Medina according to J. Hasting's Dictionary of the Bible), and the holy one (coming) from Paran. That holy one who under persecution migrated from Paran (Mecca) to be received enthusiastically in Medina was none but prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Indeed the incident of the migration of the prophet and his persecuted followers is vividly described in Isaiah 21:13-17 . That section foretold as well about the battle of Badr in which the few ill-armed faithful miraculously defeated the "mighty" men of Ke'dar, who sought to destroy Islam and intimidate their own folks who turned to Islam.

As mentioned by 1 answer, Moses was not a military leader. Indeed, the bible specifically mentions Moses' military leaders, the most prominent of whom (in later years) was Joshua.

There is no biblical evidence supporting the idea that Moses' prophesied "prophet" was an Ishmaelite. This is entirely a matter of (biblically unsupported) faith.

There was no biblical recording of a conspiracy to assassinate Moses, or of a conspiracy from which he fled. Indeed, he visited Pharaoh just prior to leaving Egypt. Nor would Pharaoh have had any problem killing him at that time, if that were his wish (well, unless God intervened - but he didn't need to do so).

Jesus was

1) "given a comprehensive law code of life"

2) encountered enemies and was victorious in miraculous ways

3) accepted as a prophet (but not really as a statesman, though Moses was not either - he was not one of the princes of the tribes of Israel mentioned)

4) "migrated following conspiracies to assassinate" him (unlike Moses)

5) born naturally (conceived supernaturally)

6) died

7) a messenger of God, but, true, not *merely* a messenger of God

In Numbers 10:11-12, the Israelites settled in Paran during the journey to the Promised Land (PL). Again, in Numbers 12:16, from where they reconnoitered the PL. Most likely, Moses was writing of the events that happened during one of these encampments when speaking of Paran in Deu 33:1.

Also, the bible provides *no* indication that Paran and Mecca are in the same location. Indeed, the Paran spoken of here is *known* to be within the Sinai peninsula, and therefore *cannot* be Mecca. Finally, there is no reason to believe that Ishmael settled in Paran permanently, so he *may* have later traveled to Mecca - but Mecca is decidedly *not* near to the Paran spoken of here.

Isaiah 42:11 does *not *make a connection between the servant of 42:11 and Kedar. You did. It most *certainly* makes no implication that the servant mentioned in verse 1 is a resident or descended from a resident of Kedar. Sela is also mentioned in verse 11, as is "the wilderness" and "cities". Clearly, the author was including *everyplace* he could think of here, not just Kedar. This is particularly apparent if you happen to read verse 10 first.

The only Teman for which a location is provided in the bible is that within the territory of Edom (just outside of Canaan, and not traditional Ishmaelite territory). We already know that Paran is in the Sinai (no surprise there). According to the HarperCollins Bible Dictionary (1995), Teman: "site identifications are all contested".

Isaiah 21:13-17 definitely prophesies a battle involving the Kedar. It is immediately preceded by a prophecy against Babylon and Edom. There is no good indication that this prophecy concerns the (very late) battle you mention, particularly as both Edom and Babylon were conquered within 100 years of this prophecy.

Mohammad (CBHN)was a Military leader like Hitler was to the Nazis, for like Hitler Mohammad (CBHN) wanted to dominate the world, and like Hitler Mohammad (CBHN) was a total insane individual. He took the Bible of the Jews and tried to re-write it to suit his purposes. He tried to change the place of Isaac with that of Ishmael. Hilter was intent on blaming the Jews for all the trouble of his people, same with Mohammad (CBHN). But God says of the Jews the true seed of Abraham and Sarah (Not Abraham and the slave) In you shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. God also said I will bless them that bless you and curse them that curse you. Mohammad (CBHN) and his followers continue to curse Israel and their Dome of the Rock is an affront to the Holy Mount. Thus they are cursed.
