My puppy doesn't believe in god nor does she have a meaning to her life, but she is very happy. She knows how to enjoy life in the moment. I've always thought she was smarter than some people.

Life is it's own meaning.

You seem to mean there is nothing meaningful in your life except believing in a deity that might or might not even be there.

What a waste. How sad, I'm sorry your life is that meaningless. Do you not even plan on trying to better yourself or the world, have children, have meaningful relationships?

It seems pretty pointless if all you have is "god" and the HOPE of a better afterlife.

I will try to have the most meaningful life I can this time, it might just be the only one I get.

Edit:

"I have learned that I can't fix everything and make everybody believe in the same amazing God. I keep doing things by myself and forget God gave us a choice and some people aren't going to believe the same things I do! good luck with ya'lls life. btw mine doesn't suck at all"

Thank you for remembering that, because that's all we ask of you, that you keep your beliefs to yourselves and we'll do the same.

My life doesn't suck either but that's what you implied with your question. How does it feel to have it turned around on you?

{Christians wonder why we're so damn defensive when every other question is some pointed jab like this}

I take it you are a Poe, but I'll copy paste an answer anyway.

Q. If you don't believe in God, then what is the point of living?

Why does living need to have a "point" at all? Do the "lilies of the field" need to have a point to live?

If you must have a "point", then decide on your own meaning of life. Can you think of anything more imporant to decide? We believe that it's much better do determine our own purpose, than to have some church do it for you based on their agenda!

Q. Doesn't being an Atheist "cheapen" life?

A. Actually religion cheapens life. Being an Atheist makes life more precious. Since there is no after-life, you must come to terms with the fact that this is the ONLY life you'll get. If an atheist throws himself in front of a bus in order to save a child, that action is much more meaningful than if a Christian did the same thing. The Christian thinks they'll just go to heaven and live there!

Look at the 9/11/2001 massacre in New York and Washington D.C. Those religious (Muslim) people thought that their actions would hasten and ensure their entry into eternal bliss, but what they actually did was throw away the only life they had in an act of "faith".

I'm a Pagan, not an atheist but I'm sure you'd include me in this. The meaning of life is to make the world a better place even if it is just for one moment. If I can make someone happy today, just to make them smile, then I have made the world a better place. We take life one day at a time and not as if it is a straight journey towards an end goal of some eternal paradise or punishment, so the meaning of our lives can change from day to day, from moment to moment. Believe it or not, millions of people are happy, and peaceful, and content without any 'missing pieces' from not being Christian. The meaning of life is to simply live it and enjoy the journey.

The same as every other animal on this planet, to procreate thus ensuring the survival of the species. But along the way we grew intelligent and decided that we were better than other animals and needed a reason to exist at which point is when gods were being created.

A person's life should be the answer to that.

This is a weird question when you think about it.

It's like asking an artist what one of their abstract paintings is about, or what it means, after you've just looked at for a few minutes. The painting itself is the answer, it is the meaning. And since the meaning of life varies from person to person, you can't have a universal agreement on it.

You mean the only reason you can find to justify your very existence is to mindlessly serve this invisible, obscure, and mysterious entity that you define as "God"? I'm sorry but I can only find that to be pathetic. I have my own life that nobody else can claim. I live my life on MY terms. I live to discover and help solve the mysteries of the world. To delve into the universe on the atomic scale and make sense of it.

What is the purpose of living? It's your life. You figure it out. You don't have to spend your life in servitude.

Maximize well being of every sentinent being to the extent possible. Take more than your fair share of responsibility towards this goal, some people religions or non-religious are either going to be neutral or may contribute to decrease the overall well being so others have to take more than fair share so that some progress towards the goal is made.

And who told you that your life has no meaning without "god"? Whoever it was needs to be beaten.

Life has so much to offer, and if you keep this up, you won't be seeing any of it, because your

"god" won't allow it.

Open up your front door. Walk outside. Think of anything on the top of your head that you want to do, and do it. That's what made me understand.

I agree with Johnny Wadd.

You don't understand because you can't comprehend the fact that people value things differently.

Why do I live? Because I have things I love doing, things I want to learn and do, and people that I love.
2010-07-16 05:14:16 UTC
What is the meaning of life when there is god? Since this god would had path your way for you. You would just be a mindless zombie following whatever you are programmed to do.

That's sad!

There is so much to explore, see, be, do and learn and as a result grow. That includes exploring and learning what IS the purpose of it all.

But if you are too eager for a comforting answer NOW and life feels too uncertain without it, then you can always cling to a belief...just as long as you know it is YOUR belief, not actual fact.

I prefere to KNOW FOR SURE not trust a desperate hope. I find it infinitely more comforting.

Atheists need prayer, especially the holy rosary, so that they can know that God exists. The rosary is God's preferred means for converting people. See the following promises.

The rosary is explained here:

http://www.sancta.org/rosary/how.html

The fifteen promises of Mary to Christians who recite the rosary:

1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary shall receive signal graces.

2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.

3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against Hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.

4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.

5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish.

6. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries, shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just, he shall remain in the grace of God and become worthy of eternal life.

7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.

8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenitude of His graces; at the moment of death, they shall participate in the merits of the saints in Paradise.

9. I shall deliver from Purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.

10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.

11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.

12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.

13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire Celestial Court during their life and at the hour of death.

14. All who recite the Rosary are my sons, and brothers of my only Son, Jesus Christ.

15. Devotion to my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

God bless!

Sorry to say, the meaning of life is relative. I can't tell you what your life means.

For me, it's happiness.

you dont understand the meaning of life with no god because you are too narrow minded to understand that other people value things differently than you do.

edit: i know that thumbs down was you, dont you find it interesting that everyone but you agrees with me, just proves how narrow minded you are.
