Any fans of the new Battlestar Galactica? And what belief system are you?

It might be interesting to see where the BSG fandom falls when it comes to religious beliefs or lack thereof...

Also, what is your opinion on the supposed supernatural events on the show (such as Baltar having Six in his head). Can they be explained by natural causes, or is there something more going on?

...

I'm Catholic and I've been a fan of the new BSG since the Miniseries first came out (though I was actually a Baptist back when it started). I do think that there must be some supernatural force behind everything, there is just way too much evidence to think otherwise at this point IMO.

(BTW, just to remind everyone... the new season starts THIS FRIDAY!)

I've been a big fan of the show.

I use to watch the original with Lorne Green and Jane Seymour.

I have been checking out Wikipedia on the show and have found some very interesting things.

Billy Keikeya is atheist, Kara Thrace prays to Artemis and Aphrodite, Laura Roslin is a prophet, Corporal Venner uses prayer beads and Elosha is a priest...........

The religious and government bodies of the Twelve Colonies work together.

The term Brother is used as a title for male members of the clergy. There are Sisters also, such as Sister Tivenan .

Many Colonials have clothing that suggests a religious deference. One older, white-bearded gentleman dresses in simple colored robes and a round, flat head covering.

These robes may remind viewers of the tradition dress of Hasidic Jews, Islamic clerics, or Eastern Orthodox clerics of the real-world Earth.

Based on the dedication ceremony blessing, Zeus is a considered "almighty" or foremost of the gods, while other Lords are prayed to by Colonials as a proxy to Zeus.

This practice is similar to a Catholic practice of prayer to Mary, mother of Jesus. While Mary is a human, followers believe that, by praying to Mary, she can intercede to aid the acceptance of the prayer by the Trinity, the godhead of the Catholic faith.

I also enjoy Lost and SG-1.

I'm also Catholic.

I still have never seen the new series but loved the original show when I was a kid. I wouldn't doubt that the producers of the show might be playing some games to annoy religious folks. They would never dare offend a Muslim, but Christians, and especially Catholics seem to be fair game. Its gotten to the point that its hard for me to enjoy a new movie or TV show at all. I'm pretty much down to watching football, and the History Channel, and even the History Channel has gotten my goat a few times when they chose to air some the the Da vinnci code stuff even after it was shown to be a hoax.

BSG is the best drama on T.V. "lost" and "24" aren't in the same league. I don't believe in "God" or any other super natural events. I do think it makes for entertaining T.V. The Cylons probably put a chip in Baltar's head or control him through e.s.p.! Anyways, it really doesn't matter...it's just a really good show.

Battlestar Galactica is the best show on U.S. television. Kamandag is the hands down best show on TV!

That being said, given that it is science fiction, I would say that the causes are similar to The Force in Star Wars. These events could conceivably be explained using current frames of reference, but only by stretching your beliefs a little bit. That is why, in my opinion, that these shows are so good.
