Question:
Why is god(s) and the afterlife automatically associated with each other so often?

The assumption is that god proves the afterlife, and that the afterlife proves god. There are those that believe in one, but not the other. For example, many deists believe in a god, but not necessarily in the afterlife (some do, some don't, and some only believe in the possibility of an afterlife). Others, like some Buddhists, believe in an afterlife, but not necessarily in any god.

Essentially, there may be a god, but it may be one that doesn't necessarily give people afterlives. There may also be consciousness beyond death without any gods being involved at all.

One day we may find solid proof for one, but how would that automatically prove the other?

There's also the belief that God created all and so in the end we return back to Him.We'll just have to wait for death to know what'll really happen. No solid proof though since the dead do not come back and i'm not sure science will reach so far as to explain about god's creations and all that.

Well that is an interesting notion.

I guess it depends on which afterlife and which God(s) are proven to be existent.

If it is the Abrahamic ideal of a God or afterlife they will ususaly go hand in hand.

If it is the Dharmic or deist ideal of God or dieits they may be separate depending on the type of dietiy and afterlife that is proven.

I think they do go hand in hand as I am a Christan (spiritual not religious)

I figure that God would have made and after life so we could get the chance to meet the reason for us all.

If there is a afterlife with no God who put it there, what drives it and what was the deciding factor that put me in this afterlife?

I would still have many questions in my second life if there was an afterlife with out God.

But if there happens to be a afterlife with out God I wouldn't be mad.

I will find a way to find peace and it is one of my main goals in the life I have now.

"There may also be consciousness beyond death without any gods being involved at all."

This part even as an atheist I can't deny, but can't confirm for sure. I died on the table for just over 2 minuets due to medical misadventure. Even though I never saw god or a bright light ,I was able to view what was happening to me. This was all confirmed over 10 years later after my records were found after..(Accidentally) being misplaced..Yeah right!

I don't know how to explain it, all I can say is what happened and that it did. What I can tell you is that having your body paddled with thousands of volts of electricity hurt like F*ck!

When I came to I thought someone had beaten me about the cheat with a bloody hammer.

Did obliterate any fear I had of dying though. I just don't know!

Polytheism and the afterlife are associated with each other so much because of ancient Egyptian and Greek beliefs. And it wouldn't. We could all be completely wrong. There could be no "God" or no afterlife whatsoever. Or their could be both or, obviously, only one of the two. The fact is, that we don't know. No one does, no matter what they claim.

And... Well, the only ones who really know are a good long-distance call away in order to ask them =/ .

The proper term is not "proof", but "correlate".

If there is no God, then all there is consists of nothing more than matter and energy, and there is nothing beyond man to transcend his death.

If an afterlife exists, it correlates with the existence of God, because without the existence of God, there can be no afterlife.

Likewise, if God exists, why shouldn't there be an afterlife? They correlate. They don't "prove" each other, per se.

Well if there is an afterlife, there is something greater then you or i. If you want to call it a god, an angel, whatever. Even if its reincarnation, there is still something more.

I dont think there would be a purpose of having a god if there wasn't an afterlife. What would he be then other then a grim reaper?

Paganism is a variety of religions, frequently defined as being non-Abrahamic (it incredibly is, no longer based on the worship of YHWH which incorporate Judaism, Christianity or Islam). there's no "devil" in paganism for the reason that devil is a determine related to Christianity. there's no "devil" in pagan religions... basically Christians have faith this by using fact they're taught that something that's no longer from their "one real God" could desire to be from this "devil" creature. That concept is a Christian one, no longer a pagan one. Pagans do no longer renowned or worship devil for the reason that they do no longer understand or worship the God whose adversary he's declared to be. A concept in devil hinges on a concept in YHWH and that's one God that pagans don't have faith in. Wicca is a particular pagan faith which might take too long to describe. Witchcraft is a craft it incredibly is open to every physique of any faith. Catholics truthfully have an incredible arsinal of witchcraft innovations (they do no longer call it 'witchcraft' or 'spells' although). so some distance as practising witchcraft, casting spells and final a competent Catholic, it incredibly isn't something i'm expert at by using fact the Catholic faith isn't something i'm incredibly in touch in or knowledgable approximately. i understand, although, that witchcraft innovations such by using fact the variety practices by human beings in touch with Hoodoo and Santeria contain some Catholic saints and that i don understand that there are Catholic witches available. Runes are not pagan and that they don't seem to be a sort of witchcraft. you do no longer could desire to be a witch to artwork with runes or make runes. The runic script is a sort of language... no longer basically any written language nevertheless, the mythology at the back of them and using them incorporates a efficient secret (secret no longer unavoidably being a "secret" yet secret meaning it won't be able to be defined, basically experienced and understood). in case you desire to apply them for magick or for divination, you will could desire to confirm for your self no be counted if this is going against the instructions or meaning of your Catholic faith, yet i understand of Catholics who have not have been given any hassle reconciling the prepare of runes with their faith. maximum suitable of success and advantages, -Scarlet

the whole christian movement gave rise to the whole idea of living in heaven after death which makes for a nice fairytale to ease you into not fearing death.
