Wow...this is quite the controversial question..and evidence for both sides can be shown in the bible..



My personal opinion is that You cannot Lose a real salvation..but you probably can Lose a false one.



They went out from us, but they were not of us: for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. (false salvation)



The fact that a person can fall away is evident here:



For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Although I believe in the security of my salvation, I do not for one minute that I could (nor would I want to) live just "any old way"

and maintain the relationship with the Lord I have now. I believe that you can reject your salvation, just as you receive it. (God forbid)..but it's possible.

To loose our salvation, we would have to be "unregenterated, unjustified, unglorified, and unsealed". God does not lie!!

Once a person is saved are they always saved? When people come to know Christ as their Savior, they are brought into a relationship with God that guarantees their salvation as eternally secure. Numerous passages of Scripture declare this fact. Romans 8:30 declares, "And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified." This verse tells us that from the moment God chooses us, it is as if we are glorified in His presence in heaven. There is nothing that can prevent a believer from one day being glorified because God has already purposed it in heaven. Once a person is justified, his salvation is guaranteed - he is as secure as if he is already glorified in heaven.

Once Saved, Always Saved – The Biblical Evidence

The Bible teaches “once saved, always saved” -- that we can be saved once and for all only through a repentant, saving faith in Jesus Christ. Once a person has accepted Christ as Savior, they may wonder if it is possible to lose that salvation. What if they commit a sin? What if they commit a lot of sins? What if they do something very, very wrong? Is it possible to be saved, and then lose that salvation? Fortunately, the answer is a resounding “no.” Once a person has accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, he/she is forever saved. This fact is referred to as the doctrine of “eternal security,” often summarized as “once saved, always saved.”



There are several reasons why a person can be confident in their “eternal security.” First and foremost is the evidence of Scripture. John 3:15-18 says about Christ: “The Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.”



The salvation in Christ is not temporary, it is eternal.



In John 10:28-30, Jesus says: “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one." The forgiveness of God through Christ is sufficient to cover all of our sins -- past, present, and future. There is nothing a person can do that God cannot forgive. This doctrine is supported by Romans 8:38-39, Ephesians 4:30, and Jude 24, among others.



Once Saved, Always Saved – The Logical Evidence

As with many other scriptural doctrines, the idea of “once saved, always saved” is also supported logically. Eternal security is consistent with everything else the Bible teaches about mankind, and God. Examining the doctrine in relation to the rest of Scripture demonstrates that it is consistent with all other biblically sound teachings. The idea of losing our salvation is not only unscriptural, but it creates monumental problems with other doctrines, including salvation by faith, the sin nature of man, and the purpose of Christ’s sacrifice.



The Bible teaches that man is inherently sinful -- that a sinful nature is a part of all of us (Romans 3:10). This means that even after being saved, every single believer is going to sin from time to time. Thinking that we can live a perfect, sinless life after our salvation is not only unscriptural, but arrogant (James 2:10). If we are not eternally secure, this sinning will cause us to lose our salvation, but how much sin is too much? There is no scriptural “yardstick” given to tell us how many or what kind of sins are enough to void our salvation. Without eternal security, the Bible would describe a situation where Christianity is a perpetual game of Russian Roulette; a life in which condemnation and salvation alternate every time we sin and confess, and we never know if we’re saved or not.



Scriptural passages (Ephesians 2:8-9, Isaiah 64:6) indicate that our attempts at good deeds will never earn us a place in heaven. We cannot make up for our past, present, or future sins by doing good works. A saved believer will, as a natural product of their faith, shun sin and practice good works (James 2:18). If “once saved, always saved” is not true, then by necessity we are saved both by our faith and our works. If we can do sinful things, or not do good things (James 4:17) and lose our security, then our good deeds are a part of our salvation. This is concept is contradictory to Scripture. It also creates an unlivable scenario where we have to try to do enough good to outweigh our sinful natures. The doctrine of “eternal security” goes hand in hand with the doctrine of “saved by faith alone.” To deny eternal security is to endorse a “faith plus works” salvation system.



Jesus Christ made some powerful statements about morality during His earthly ministry. In those three short years, He talked the talk and walked the walk of the toughest moral and ethical system in human history. Most religions focus on the external actions, but Christ took the concept of sin and holiness to a much deeper level. For example, most religions are satisfied to condemn the physical act of adultery, but Christ said “Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart” (Matthew 5:28).



Christ set the bar for holiness at a level all Christians are called to aspire to, but none can ever fully live up to, because of our sin nature. Just as the law of Moses was meant, in part, to demonstrate to Israel how impossible it was for mortal man to obtain the moral perfection of God, the standards of Christ also remind us of how shallow our best efforts at goodness really are. Thankfully, God has always provided a way for us to be forgiven for our shortcomings. Christ’s sacrifice on the cross served the same purpose for all mankind that the sacrificial lambs did for specific families before His ministry. Christ was a sinless, blameless substitute for our sins. The Bible clearly tells us what Christ’s moral expectations are for us. If we lost our salvation every time we fell short of those ideals, then none of us would be saved for more than a few minutes at a time. If that were true, what purpose was there in His death?



Also, according to the Bible, if we could lose our salvation, then it would be lost forever, because Christ only died once. Hebrews 6:4-6 is an often misunderstood passage, which strongly supports the doctrine of eternal security in two ways: it implies that Christ’s sacrifice must be sufficient for all sins, and states that if it were possible for a person to lose their salvation, it would be forever lost. According to this passage, if a person could do something that cost them their salvation (which they cannot), then it would be “impossible” for them to be re-redeemed.



Once Saved, Always Saved – The New Creation

Critics of the “once saved, always saved” doctrine claim that it gives Christians a license to sin. They presume that those who believe in eternal security intend to accept salvation, and then continue to willingly sin. This is inaccurate, because anyone who has been truly saved is a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17), has the conviction of the Holy Spirit (John 14:26; 1 Thessalonians 4:8), and now wants to live for Christ. Someone who continues to willingly and blatantly live in sin has not truly accepted Christ (1 John 2:19; 1 John 3:6; James 1:26). While this false belief may be held by some, it is not a part of the teachings of any true Christian church (Romans 3:8).



A person who willingly, humbly, repents of sin and turns towards the cross, trusting Christ as their Savior, will be saved (Acts 16:31; John 6:37; John 14:6). That salvation is once and for all, eternal, and secure. Those who truly trust in Christ are saved once, and saved always.

The christian life begins when we accept Christ as our life and we become children of God(Jn. 1:12-13), once we become children of God, it is impossible to stop being sons. It is like you, you were born of your parents, therefore you will be their child forever. Even if you misbehave you still have their life. That is the same case with God, once you have His life you will never lose it. But there is a problem, this is that if you misbahave then God is going to punish you.

God's full salvation begins in our spirit, goes on to our soul and finishes in our body. What a salvation!!

Our salvation experience is also called being born again. (from Nicodemus' discussion with Jesus). I maintain that no one who is born can be unborn - a person can't lose their birth and somehow become "not".



I believe that if a person is saved they stay that way. There are degrees of estrangement in relationship in the heavenly family, but not one child ever gets unborn from the family.



The Bible says it simply, "According to your faith, be it unto you." My faith simply rests in the power of Jesus to save me to the uttermost. Somewhat surprizingly, for my difficult background/abuse, I have never doubted my salvation once or felt insecure. I am reborn, I belong to the family of God. My Father is God, the Most High. Jesus is my Savior and my Lord, my All. I am so blessed. In the natural world I was treated like trash; I grew up in a pack of wild dogs, metaphorically speaking. And then Jesus rescued me in my 11th hour giving me another option than suicide. I've had moments even days when I was a lousy representative of Christianity, but I've always been certain that Jesus saved me and changed something deep inside me. My essential nature changed and I became something new and different.



Jesus said, "You must be born again". of water (natural birth) and the spirit (rebirth spiritual).



Personally in 37 years of intense participation in Christianity I've seen many disobedient, disenfranchised (alienated) children, but not one unborn one.



I'll force myself to stop here. I always start rambling on when I talk about Jesus. No words quite satisfy my hunger to express Him so that you will SEE HIM, SENSE WHO HE REALLY IS. I'm passionate about Jesus. He matters more than anything else on this earth to me and that includes eveything else in my life. I will endure the loss of anything, but Jesus-that I couldn't survive. So I thank God that it isn't possible to "lose" Jesus.

Yeah, if you stay saved,lol... If you are truly living and seeking God with all of your heart, mind and soul then you won't have anything to worry about. When we mess up, scripture states that we confess up, and repent, and turn from those ways..... However, it is possible for one to fall away...our salvation is not complete until our earthly life has been completed.



He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not "blot" out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

Revelation 3:5

- How can Christ blot out one's name if their name was never there? Once we receive Christ our name is written in the lamb's book of life. But this scriptures states that it is "possible" for one's name to be blotted out from the Book of Life. And the requirement for our names not to be blotted out is to overcome...

-This scriptures shows that it's "possible" to fall away, b/c it clearly states "if they fall away" which constitutes a condition has to be met which invloves a choice. How can one fall away from Christ if they never had a relationship with Him? The scipture says it is impossible to renew them "again"... If one has to be renewed again to repentance then obviously they have been renewed before....



These are just a few... The scriptures clearly states that we are to endure in the Faith until the end....it is those who endure until the end that will be saved. Bottom line is that if we continually stay before God and His Word (being in constant fellowship), examining ourselves daily and living an obedient and repented lifestyle before Him then we don't have to worry about once saved always saved....

Ephesians 1:22-23 - " And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all." If a Christian could lose their salvation, then Christ's body would be less than complete. It would be scarred or disfigured.



Colossians 2:9-10 - "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power." In both His earthly and resurrection bodies, Jesus Christ was and is fully God. The perfection of divine essence, or nature, has always been in Him. So it is with the believer. They have reached a state of completion, or perfection, in their position in Christ that cannot be more acceptable than they are right now. They did not reach this state of completion by good works, but have been made complete by God.



Hebrews 7:25 - "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them." Christ is able to save completely all who come to God through Him. Since He will live forever, He will always be there to remind God that he has paid for our sins with His blood.



1 John 5:11-13 - "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life: and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."



The thief on the cross had absolutely nothing to show for his life, no good works, and no chance to do any. He simply confessed that he deserved to die, and that Jesus did not deserve to die. As he hung there on the cross next to Jesus, the thief could read the sign which hung above Jesus' head proclaiming Him to be the King of the Jews. The thief believed that Jesus, after He died was going to inherit a kingdom, and the thief asked Jesus to remember him when He came into His Kingdom. This, to me, is the heart of salvation - repentance and confession. Christ's shed blood was sufficient to forgive the thief of his sins and guarantee his salvation, and His shed blood is sufficient to do the same for us.



I would like to end by saying that if there was something more that a person had to do to have assurance of salvation, then that would mean that Christ's atoning work on the cross was incomplete, and that's just not true.

This is what I believe, If a person has been truly changed by the work Christ did on the cross. And if that person has had the life altering change made in their lives. And if they have been given perseverance, understood Gods glory and seen that. Felt him in their life, known that it is all of him and none of them. Desire from down deep in their spirit, to be a profitable servant. I do not believe that person will turn back into the world. On the other hand we have all seen people who have an emotional experience, or come to Christ in hopes of getting out of trouble. Or to get their lives back on track. But came without the wooing of the Holy Spirit. I think this person will find something wrong before long and turn back to the old way of life. It all goes back to the parable of the sower. Which type of ground are the people who turn back, were they truly wrought on by the Holy Spirit of God through the process of conviction, I think that is where the difference is. To come to a revealed Christ, you must have revelation. Where do we get that, the gift of Grace, and the Mercy God sheds forth to those he has chosen.

In Rev 3:4-12 we are told that a person's name will be blotted out of the Book of Life if a person doesn't remain faithful to God. That is referring to those who have never accepted Jesus as their Savior and followed His word and it also applies to those who have accepted Him and then fallen away.



Matt 7:13-14 tells us that the path to destruction is wide so even though many think they are saved, if they continue to sin wilfully and follow satan, they will be on that broad path with all the unbelievers.



Gal 5:4 tells us that many have become estrange and have FALLEN from GRACE. Grace is offered to all of us but it won't be given to all if they fall short of God's glory and don't do His will every day.



Also, Heb 6:6 tells us that if someone has fallen away, we are to work to restore them back to the faith. What would be the purpose of restoring them if they are saved regardless of their errant ways?



I always wonder why people want to take some of the Bible and use it as their guide but then turn around and ignore the rest of it. The New Testament has many steps to salvation and we can't just pick and choose what we want and say we are saved. Beware of the devil who is leading many of you down the wrong path and having you believe you are saved regardless of how you live.



And our purpose as Christians isn't just to pray and study the Word and try to live a faithful life....it doesn't end there. Our purpose is to do all that plus take the Word to others so they can learn what they have to do to save their souls. Mk 16:15-16 tells us to go into ALL the world and preach the gospel to every creature. I have yet to see anyone else say that in the questions/answers I have read on here (I'm sure someone has but I've not seen it in 8 months I've been here).

If someone who is saved suddenly decided that they no longer wanted anything to do with God for whatever reason then why would God force them to spend eternity with him. I think the parable of the Sower sheds enough light on this subject for us to see that not all who believe end up following though with working out their salvation. We see many Atheist on here who proclaim that they were once Christians and then decided not to believe anymore. Now they not only don't believe but discourage others from doing so. They in essence has become enemies of the cross. Since mankind is given a freewill we can use it to either believe unto salvation or deny, at any time, the gift that God so freely offers.

This is something I've struggled with. Growing up Pentecostal, the notion of "backsliding" was thrust upon us, and I frequently felt I had to be "re-saved", because my sins had lost my salvation. If I lied, I needed re-saved. If I had a bad attitude, I needed re-saved. Every Sunday, the same man sitting in the back of the church would pray for "all the backsliders" - people who not only denounced Christianity, but who were not attending the church, being negative, sinning, etc.



As an adult, I changed to the Southern Baptist Convention and finally found freedom. For by GRACE we have been saved - by God - in faith and not because of works (Eph. 2:8-9). Even though my former church didn't outright preach works, by leading people to believe one could lose their salvation by sin was misleading.



To be fully truthful, I don't know exactly how I feel about losing one's salvation by CHOICE. That is, I do not believe we should be asking for salvation every week - no, probably forgiveness! - but I am not sure if a person who claims to be formerly saved really was or just had a false commitment. I've heard it argued that anyone who truly experiences God would never deny them, but even the Bible speaks of hardened hearts. In the end, it is something we can debate, but will not fully understand until we are face-to-face with the Maker.

Apostle Paul did not believe in "once saved, always saved."



Time and again Paul likens the Christian’s course to a “race” that must be run to the finish. “Let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” he urged the Hebrews. (12:1, AV) To enter the race, sinners must take the steps necessary for salvation: hearing and accepting the Word of God, believing in Jesus Christ and his ransom sacrifice, repenting of their sins and being baptized. In this way, they get saved “from this crooked generation,” as Peter exhorted those gathered at Pentecost. Unbelievers are outside the race, having failed to enter by getting “saved.”Acts 2:37-40.



Once entered in the race by being “saved,” a Christian takes “hold of the life which is life indeed.” But is it possible to lose that grip on life? Paul answers with this question: “Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one receives the prize?” In the Christian race, Paul indicates the “one” who receives the prize is anyone who finishes the race. Therefore, Paul urges, “So run that you may obtain it.” Then, using himself as an example to make the point of his illustration, he continues: “I pommel my body and subdue it, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” 1 Tim. 6:19.



Evidently the apostle, who surely was a “saved” Christian, believed that even he could be “disqualified” from the race. Yet as long as he continued to ‘run that he might obtain’ the prize, thus remaining in the race, salvation was assured. This is why Christians who remain in the race can be said to ‘have everlasting life.’ But if they should ever quit the race, they are “disqualified,” losing their hold on everlasting life.

My friend, there are three types of Christians. Those that believe in Christ as their Lord and Savior. Those that believe they can be saved in sin. And those that believe they can save themselves. The "once saved always saved" idea says that we may be saved in sin.



With the military, olympics, groups, clubs, etc . . . if you disqualify yourself, you are removed. God does not reward sin. If we choose God, then choose something else over Him how can we expect to still receive the gift offered to those that remain with Him?



My friend, God says, Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown (Rev 3:11). We are living in a battle. It is dangerous to slumber and think that the gift of salvation is free with no conditions. God says to "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and I shall be saved." If I say I believe and have a past experience with Christ, but am now acting as an unbeliever, than I truly do not believe and I have returned to my vomit life of sin. As Christians we are to die daily and, "be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life" (Rev. 2:10).



Let us choose this day whom we will serve!

Let us ask God to heal our backsliding (Hosea 14:4).

Let us lay at His beautiful feet pleading for strength because we realize that without Him we can do nothing, nothing, nothing.

Why the millennium? You give a 100 yr life to Jesus (tithe) God pays you 1000. Also all of Gods promises need to be fullfilled and saints who gave their lives have owed promises.

Now the Q? part of all this , We are to be RULERS over many in the millennium since only christians and pre christ jews will be there Who will we be ruling over. For those who refuse to serve this 100 yr. life they will serve 1000 , you cannot lose salvation but you will lose your millinial bliss. 1000 years of bondage.

Some good answers, I think one of them hit it right on from the NT. Backsliding is well documented in the bible - I'll take an example from the OT. Asa was one who lost dependence on God and leaned more upon his own efforts to perpetuate his power, reputation, status, and wealth. Asa followed the common path of disobedience towards backsliding: First one becomes COMFORTABLE in their prosperity - crediting himself rather than the One who blessed him; Then CARNALITY sets in once more worldly desires become lusts & addictions for the flesh; Worldly gluttonly transpires to hardening of the heart reaping fruits of flesh perceived as "being COLD" towards God's creations and loved ones; Afterwards, the backslider performs malicious acts that are CALLOUS & CALCULATING or premeditated - definetely fruits of the flesh; Unfortunately, most backsliders end up CRIPPLE, physically, emotionally, & spiritually. For Asa, his period of separation from God ended in gout, a foot disease that made it painful for him to walk, so painful that it consumed all his thoughts and actions that he literally had no room in his heart for God. And he died a backslider. Once a person heads down the backslidden road, the only way to get out is to actually get a fresh baptism in the Holy Spirit, to revitalize & soften a hardened heart to the tug of conviction. I can lose my salvation if I ignore conviction and not "get right with God" after the fact. If I don't get to my altar of repentance, then God will deal with me at the day of judgment, and I know I will not get another chance other than RIGHT NOW to get a clean heart with God. Grace is a gift, yes, but that gift CAN BE REVOKED if we are disobedient to the Lord. The road to backsliding can be subtle, we must be on guard at all times to guard our hearts, eyes, minds to anything that will make us stumble. It is a constant battle, but there is a solution and that is the Blood of Jesus, reapplied over and over again.

If you are saved, meaning, you have been baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, and have evidence of the abiding holy ghost in YOU through the gift of tounges you are saved.



Understand. Jesus said none (saved) will be plucked from his hand. When you are saved you are bought with a price. You are no longer of yourself you becomes slaves to Christ. Jesus said he knows his sheep and they know his voice. In romans it says nothing can separate you from the love of Christ. A sheep can stray, but the master will go and search for his sheep, and he will find them. Jesus told his disciples that he would send a comforter to abide with them forever (holy ghost). So if he is abiding in those that are saved forever, that means he shall not leave. You must understand what God is saying in his word. His word is not made known to unbelievers.



For those that are not saved, God, (the holy ghost) does not abide in them, for they have not his spirit. So when they die in their sin, he knows them not, and they are condemned to hell for their continued refusal to believe and reverence God.



But when God abides in you, he shall remain forever. This is his promise. He said that he abides in you, and lives in you. Read John 14 in particular 15-21, the whole passage actually. Forever means that when a saved person dies, because God's spirit abides in them, they shall have eternal life. If a saved person sins, he has forgiveness, he can go to God and repent for than sin stain. But, when you are not saved you are still a slave to sin, and have not forgiveness.



When you are saved you are no longer a slave to the grave. You are in this world, but know longer of it. He said the beginning of John 14 that he has gone to prepare a place for you, and he will come back (he is talking to those who are save), and you shall also be with him.

Don't worry: there's a nice resolution that's been practiced on me a lot.



Those holding the "never lose" position can manage quite nicely by simply insisting that any "Christian" who falls away was never truly saved to begin with.



This brings both approachs into harmony on the practical level, given that there plenty of "ex-Christians " around.

Including me.



Each side of the debate can quote scripture to their purpose, but neither side can admit that this might reveal something about the nature of the bible.

There are a lot of areas in The Word of God that can be interpreted to mean that our salvation isn’t secure, but there are also verses like Eph 1:13-14, John 6:37, John 17:12 and John 10:29. I would like to take a look at these areas, and discuss the different ways that they can be interpreted. If we can loose our salvation, what exactly is it that can take it away. Can sin?



Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;



From this in my understanding we are no longer governed by the law, so there is no more sin.



1Cr 6:12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. 1Cr 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.



From this in my understanding nothing is sin to us anymore, but those things that were when we were without Christ are still harmful to us.



I was taught that salvation is free, but crowns are earned.



Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.



Following Rom 7 is Rom 8:1 which says “[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”



How about apostasy?



In my background I was taught how to look at this subject from only one side. I’d like to look at it from both sides, but I would like for those who study this with me to look at it from both sides as well.



Even if our salvation is secure, that doesn’t mean that we are free to live like hell. We have a job to do, and that is to bring God glory, and we are to do the best that we can at it. We don’t do it to keep our salvation, though. We do it because we love the Lord.

Once a child of God, born of His Spirit & cleansed by His blood, & joint heirs with King Jesus & made part of the Family of God;

How can Jesus say to you, "Depart from me! I never knew you!. You who practice iniquity (habitual destructive sins)..." Jesus knows all His Children who are born of Him. So? He doesn't lie. And also it is Father Gods will that none will perish & all should come to repentence & receive eternal life. Also, it is impossible for those born of God to abide in sin (make it a comfortable habit) because of the Holy Seed (Who seals us unto the day of redemption.).





I used to believe in the points of no return. And went through a few spiritual experiences related to this. But if you keep calling on the Name of Jesus. Jesus will save you. There have even people, Athiest all their life, who died & went into outer darkness & were tore & hurt by evil beings. But deep down in this persons innerself something told him 'Jesus'. So? He sang 'Jesus loves me' (sort of). These evil beings shrunk back. He tried to think of anything about 'Jesus'. And then he was before Jesus & thought he wasn't worthy of that. But he was told that in Heaven they don't make mistakes. See? He believed in Jesus as a child. He was born of God as a child. So? He just forgot & thought he was an athiest. So? He came back to life & isn't an athiest anymore.



See? You can call on the Name of Jesus even if you die.





In response to runrunrun...s answer... There is the foundation where one confesses with their mouth Jesus Christ their Lord & believes in their heart He raised from the dead & will be saved. This is eternal life salvation. But this the born of God experience. Where there is an actual spiritual birth that blends with our soul. This is everlastiing life. We are dressed in Christ righteousness & nothing we do or don't do will change that. When God looks at us, God sees the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

But, we still have a corruptible body & mind that needs to be renewed with the Word of God & renewed in the Spirit. This is being saved from conscequences of wrong decisions (discipline). And also when we make the soul choice to die to lust flesh & follow after the Spirit, then we inherit everlasting rewards. This is saving us our souls rewards. We are forever a Child of God because we are on the Rock foundation, Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God. But what we build on the Rock will be tested by fire...

Yes, I think you can lose your salvation…when the wheat becomes unfruitful…you can’t get saved today and then walk in sin and expect to make it to the Kingdom. Do all people have God written in their hearts?



The wheat and the tares



Matthew 13:30

Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.





This verse is very different in regards to other verses that talk about the “separation” or “gathering” of people …note here that the tares are accounted for first…the tares are those who have done the corrupting…Beast and the false prophet …they are placed into the Lake of Fire first…next gather the wheat…notice God doesn’t say gather MY wheat…THE wheat…into my barn…this wheat is corrupted..





From a farming view point…corrupted wheat bares no FRUIT…all that is left is hay and stubble… both burn easily!

People become unfruitful when they don’t accept the Word of God OR walk away from it. Look here; “catcheth away that which was sown in his heart” this means all are born with God in their hearts…proof that we have free will to choose.





Does corrupted wheat bear fruit? Are they like hay and stubble?

The tares are bound to be burned. The lake of fire was made for Satan first! He will go into the lake first and the false prophet too. The wheat represents the “lost souls”, those whose names are not found in the Book of Life. They would have to go to the “great white throne” or here into the “barn” they are not given white robes, you don’t find them anywhere among those who “live”.





I hear Christians say G_d Dm it…all too often.



Exodus 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.







Christians lose their salvation when they choose WORLDLY living…the Rich man and Lazarus…The rich man acknowledges the Laws of Moses and the Prophets…yet he’s in hell?

This question is actually part of what started me on the journey I am on to this day almost 25 years ago. The sunday school lesson was on losing one's spiritual gifts if they were not used. The conclusion was stated that if one did not use these gifts then the gifts would be lost. Near the end of the class I asked if a spiritual gift could be lost, could one's salvation not also be lost based upon the reasoning that was being used in this Southern Baptist church. I had never felt so many eyes upon me it seemed, and yet anguish in appearance from them. The teacher said he would have to take that up with the pastor, whom I knew well. And I knew what his answer would be. I left the church not long after that because of the conflict that one event seemed to cause, among other things. I understand the teacher left not long after that, though I am not sure that was the reason. Regardless, I told my deacon of the situation before I left and I also, for many years, had known his Mother and Father in-law, whom both had been killed in an auto accident about a year before. I questioned his position on their salvation and the situation of their life at the time of their death. Though they had been in church and suposedly saved years before, they had not been involved anywhere for some time, and were actually apparently intoxicated the night of the accident which was their fault. My deacon told me he no longer believed in once saved always saved. This is rare in Southern Baptist Churches. I told him of the situation in the sunday school class and he agreed with me that it was a logical question and conclusion. This turned my concept of things on its side. WHAT THIS MEANT IS THAT WORKS IS WHAT WOULD SAVE YOU, AND THAT IS THE CONCLUSION FOR ANYONE IF YOU THINK YOU CAN LOOSE YOUR SALVATION. I searched this question long and hard. I have been on both sides of this one before and yet for the past 20 years or so I have found myself solidly in an understanding that is commonly labeled 'hyper-calvinist'. I did not even know such a label existed until I was established in it a long time. Still don't know what Calvin taught completely, and it does not matter, because I came to the conclusion I am at through many trials. My salvation is based solely on a PROMISE concerning a REMNANT. There is nothing I could have done, EVER, nothing that I can do, EVER, that would get me this graceful gift. I don't deserve it, and never have. My salvation is simply a product of a CONTRACT. Those that do not have salvation are simply the result of the same CONTRACT. This contract is based upon a Dominion Mandate Yahweh gave to Adam. The Kings/Priests come from this same promise in the same contract. It has been past down through the bloodline to finally resting with the remnant of the physical Israylites. That is the lineage that was promised a redeemer. That is the ones the CONTRACT is with. That is the ones the Dominon Mandate is to. That is the lineage the Messiah came through.

ISRAYL is TOO STUPID to know they need to be redeemed, their wicked heart does not allow it:

WE DID NOTHING, WE DO NOTHING, FOR SALVATION, and IF it is truly given, it will not be taken. HE CHOSE BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD! We are simply manifest in this particular phase of HIS PLAN.



This is where the trouble comes in. Not everyone that claims it is! When one examines the fine print of the contract they find who that contract is actualy made with. All others are but part of the false teachings, false spirits, false gospels, false messiahs, and etc. HIS PEOPLE WILL MANIFEST AS PART OF THE PROMISE WITHIN THE CONTRACT, NOT based upon some grevious list of do's and don'ts. THE LAW OF YAHWEH IS PLACED IN THE HEART BY YAHWEH, IT MANIFESTS IN THE ACTIONS OF THE ONES WITH THAT LAW IN THEIR HEART, and Mal. 4 tells us the law if the one given at Mt. Horeb.



THE TRUE LOVE HE PUT IN OUR HEART IS MANIFEST:

1Jo 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of Yahweh, when we love Yahweh, and keep his commandments.

1Jo 5:3 For this is the love of Yahweh, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.



Those that look on Yahweh's law as a burden do not have the contract they think they do. This is the same laws Abraham obeyed:

Gen 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.



Therefore true believers have the same faith as Abraham.



and are not to be confused with the laws of Moses from the plain of Moab, 40 years after Israyl left Egypt.

Act 5:31 Him hath Yahweh exalted with his right hand [to be] a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israyl, [WHO??] and forgiveness of sins.

Act 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and [so is] also the Holy Spirit, whom Yahweh hath given to them that obey him.

WHO HAS THE INFILLING OF THE SPIRIT?? A bunch of pagan false spirited cretins? NO! Israylites that keep the commandments of Yahweh!



HOW DOES ONE KNOW THEY ARE 'SAVED' THEN??

1Jo 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

This is not a bunch things that are so 'SPIRITUALLY MINDED THEY ARE NO EARTHLY GOOD', this is the remnant, obedient Israylites He is talking about. THAT is the manifestation. And that is how you know. If one never reaches that, they never were saved to begin with, they were just invovled with a STRONG RELIGIOUS DELUSION Yahweh sent on them as 2 Thes. 2 says.

Many shall say unto me Master, Master.....



The passages that seem to teach losing salvation are dealing with losing ones rewards. One or two others are dealing with situations that cannot actually happen and the writer is using such a thought to make another point.



Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of Yahweh: {{{ >> IT IS NOT EVEN OUR FAITH <<<}}}

Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Messiah Yahshua unto good works, which Yahweh hath before ordained that we should walk in them.



ANY TRULY SAVED person are POTS Yahweh molded by His workmanship THROUGH YAHSHUA for GOOD WORKS, which will manifest, AND TAKE NOTE, Yahweh ORDAINED IT! Not us.



Many misunderstand these promises and pretend they can get by with sin and so forth, thinking no matter what I'm saved. Does that sound like a heart the has the law of Yahweh in it. Of course not. They are deceived. Blinded. The Mighty One of this world, YAHWEH, has blinded their eyes.



HERE is a final AMAZING passage!

2Co 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Yahshua Messiah is in you, except ye be reprobates?



There is only two options. One is saved with Yahshua IN them, or they are reprobates. Noone is halfway saved. Nor half way lost.

You have been given some good answers here, and please let me add on. Dr. G. and Bill are pretty right on here.

God will not remove the gift of salvation from us and He says it is free. But then the rest of the Bible tells us to hold on to the prize of salvation, so we dont lose it, and then goes into much detail about how the devil will try to take it and how we must hold on to it. God wont just kick us from the kingdom of God.

But when we refuse to obey, it is we that deny God, deny Jesus and remove ourself. ITs all choice to believe and its choice to obey, But whether one does are not, tells their future and their destiny.

1 John 3:9 says those born of God will not deliberately sin, they cant. As we no longer have the old fallen sin nature, but the nature of Christ, a new creation man. By the blood of Jesus Christ, we are given these things, and we are commanded to IF YOU LOVE ME OBEY> Its not just a mere suggestion, IT IS A COMMAND. WE are told to be like Jesus, act like Jesus, think like HIm and to speak like Him, boldly, without fear or compromise. WE areto represent Jesus and allow ppl to see Jesus in us. God forbid, but that is the message we give when we operate in sin of any kind. WE are to operate in the supernatural realm, of knowing WHo God is and who we are in Christ, and by the blood of Jesus Christ, we have the gift of the Holy Spirit that empowers us to overcome sin as Jesus did. How did Jesus obey fully? He obeyed God without question, unto completion and perfection, jsut as we are called to do. GOd doesnt remove our salvation, but we surely can, by operating in rebellion, saying we know more than God and just saying how little do I have to do God to squeeze thru the gates of HEaven. Those born of God will ask What more can I do for you Lord, and count it all as joy as they do it. WE cant do it alone, but we have been given the Holy Spirit. Its not Gods fault if we wont recieve and obey.

You are right, this is not a nonsense matter and only those that are Gods should even attempt to answer. Those who are only making it folly, God will deal with, but they can be forgiven if they repent.

God is calling this last day generation to a newness of SPirit into holiness and obedience, walking without sin, not being free to sin. When we hope grace covers our sins, we are not following God, nor do we have His heart. Faith without works counts as nothing, it is dead, and will not be counted by God as the works of His ppl of complete faith.

Works dont save us, and working for the wrong reasons wont make us brownie points with God. Some say obedience is legalism. Thats dung thinking. Obedience is required of God, it is only legalsim when its done thinking you earn your way to heaven. But, obeying becusae you love God , knowing He is GOd, and you are not, but you are aware of the new creation you have been given, and that by the power of the blood of Jesus, and the Holy Spirit power, you can be walking in holiness and righteous and not counting it as dread, but as joy. BLessings come to overflow and its wonderful. WE dont do it for the blessings, its just the declious frosting on an already decliicious cake.

WE cant fool God, He knows our heart, and He requires our hearts to be fully given to Him, in submission , knowing He knows best, not ourselves.

Blessings come then, but its not why you serve God, You serve Him from love and honor and respect, and oh yes, He will bless His loyal and faithful servants. WE are called in these last days to let our lights shine as we lead others to these truths. Truly Gods last day army of warriors in His army .

Do we answer the full call, or do we try to just believe. ?? Even the devil believes folks, and its not enough.

WE must know God and His word to know what to obey.

Its all there in His word, and divine revelation thru the Spirit.

WIll you answer the call today?

I tell ppl to ask this of God. WHAT IS MY PURPOSE, WHAT ARE YOU CALLING ME TO DO FOR YOU LORD. ??? I want only to do your will and be of the service to you that you call me to>

When we do that, and we pray and study Gods word, God will show us. Pew sitting isht the answer, or going to church as a social gathering. WE are theere to live and speak Gods truths, and to honor Him anything less is heresy, and God will always know our heart.

Ask God what your calling is today and HE will reveal it. Never settle for less than God has given to you.

Ask God for it all, and it ALL will come.

When I was a child, I would have explained that you could not lose your salvation. The "sin against the holy spirit" was rejection of God to begin with.



Now that I am an adult, my eyes are open, and I am much more aligned with the views of the responders above.



What about the christian "plan of salvation" makes a lick of sense? Jesus died as a propitiation for your sins?



Let me argue by way of analogy. Suppose I came to you with a story of Yesua, a Hebrew who lived in the middle east several thousand years ago. This Yeshua was killed in some particularly gruesome manner, and all you have to do to merit salvation (eternal life in heaven) is to believe he was martyred for your sins, to accept him as your savior.



If you do this, are you saved? If you truly and firmly believe it? Or does only belief in the REAL Jesus merit eternal heavenly billet? Suppose you believe Jesus was a long-haired teutonic featured anglo saxon with blazing blue eyes, while the REAL Jesus was a swarthy dark-skinned dead sea pedestrian? Isaiah says he was ugly to boot.



Your Creator endowed you with a brain, and a keen intellect. Abusing it with fundamentalist religion does Her a grave disservice.
