...what would they call that? Church has a religious connotation which would be inappropriate for the occasion but 'science-meety-place' doesn't sound good...

Atheist do not need a weekly meeting place to learn or study about the scientific origin of life. Not all atheist are science minded nor are all scientist atheist minded.

If it's a club you want to start for kicks just say that.

We call it "Science Club" here in Cincinnati...we actually meet about once a month (usually restaurants or bar & grills)...it's part of a larger network of "skeptic gatherings", of which there's usually something every week (but not always to my tastes - which is an advantage...we know in advance the basic subject, and make a choice to attend based on that)...I don't think we're ready to make the big move to weekly services...does sound a bit theistic

Universities. Libraries. Scientific conferences. Research labs.

Most of those aren't "weekly," but we're not trying to copy "church."

And religious people are always welcome.

Peace.

School.

(School can be weekly, if adults go to classes for fun. Besides, that most school is five days a week doesn't mean that this hypothetical thing can't also be school, a la "Sunday school.")

How about Gay Guys and their Atheist Cohorts. You could plan trips to Utah to harass mormons and maybe broaden that hate scope from there.
