Why do people thank god?

Question

Example: Before people eat dinner they say something such as "Thank you God for giving us this food, blah blah blah"

The problem I have with that is... God didn't provide that food. The person who provided the food wakes up every day, takes a shower, puts on his clothes, shoes, watch, cell phone. He then gets in his car, gets gas and drives on roads that are paid for by the taxes taken out of his paycheck every two weeks to get to work. He spends 8 hours a day probably breaking his back, but this job pays for everything, including his nice dinner that he thanks GOD for providing each and every night.

So why do we thank god for things that he has nothing to do with?

If you were poor and a shelter or school provided you with a turkey for thanks giving why do you thank god for it? The shelter or school provided the turkey, not god. Can't we thank the good hearted people who had some money to spare?

Its a weak mentality. It makes the person think that without God they'd be nothing. Even if they do all the work (plant the seeds, reap, process, cook) they still feel the need to thank God because somehow they themselves couldn't pull of this process. Its weak and its like these people have no belief in themselves. This religion is not human.

You can only control limited amounts of your life. For instance your health, you cam eat healthy but still get sick. With your job, you can work hard but still have your job go bankrupt and then you lose your job. As to why these things might happen maybe you have not thanked God. After all who wants to help someone who never thanks them for and always wants to claim that they did it on their own.

Scientist can't explain why a seed grows and reproduces and produces food.Yes they understand how it all works, but not why, that is because it is God that makes it grow. When they win contests/competitions, they thank God. They're basically thanking God that their opponents lost when God wouldn't care who wins or loses. The people who win are basically thanking God that they are better than the people they beat.

You are so wrong. God provides all of those things. Jobs, a future! He helps everyone every day. People thank God, because they are greatful that He is in their lives, they thank him for dying for their sins even though we are not worth it, but he loves us.

i am the person working 8 hours a day and weekends to provide for my family and i thank God everyday for giving me the strength to do so. i thank God for every little thing that comes into my life. I thank him for keeping my wife and child and myself healthy. With God all things impossible are made possible. i have seen this with my own eyes. i have witnessed this and i thank God because i AM thankful for that which is freely given.
