Question:
Zeus vs Jesus, who is the better God?

Who do you think will win this battle? Spiritually speaking of course.

By the way, why did we stop believing in Zeus he is way cooler then Jesus. In fact Greek mythology overall would be a much more interesting religion to follow then boring old Christianity. I don't see Jesus shooting lightning bolts out of his hands.

Zeus would win, hands down. That god had testosterone coming out his ears. He'd beat the crap out of jesus, then proceed to sleep with each of the disciples, mary magdalene, and the talking donkey.

I'm of the belief that they are both mythological beings. Although Jesus might have lived at one time. If so and he came here to teach people about a God he never wanted nor intended that God to be him. So I'd say the religion that grew from this mythology is no different than the mythology surrounding Zeus.

Also the person who said that Jesus has followers and Zeus didn't are wrong. During the time that Zeus supposedly reigned from up in the clouds (sound familiar?) he had millions of followers to . And many temples here on earth where people went to pray to him and ask for stuff. Many people believe in the miracles he produced too.

Its just a difference in time. That's all. Who know what people will be praying to in the year 4000. FIsh? Turnips? Or maybe a black rock like the one found at Mecca?

I think Jesus would win, because he had mind to get rid of Zeus. Anyway, Zeus left the God business and retired in Paradise forever, he didn't want to be apart of the creation of the Earth you see today. Zeus was part of the old cosmos, the early beginning of when the cosmos was born. Zeus was one of the first Gods ever made, because the ones who came up with him, forgot the name was Jesus and not Zeus. So they stuck was Zeus, until they made a Jesus that made things the way it is now. When Zeus retired, so did the belief system and rules that he made when he was in power. Greek mythology would be fun to follow, it would definitely wouldn't sprout unbelievers as much but the world and the religion in it is the way the world is unfortunately.

I am a Christian and I agree with the majority

Zeus would be cooler and easier to follow.

How high are his standards and expectations? Besides the Greek pantheon is very systematic and well defined. pray to the right god and your wishes come true!

But maybe I like a little mystery and uncertainty. I don't believe prayer is for wish fulfillment. (Monotheism--one stop shopping in the prayer department)

PS The first Greeks to meet the Apostle Paul tried to worship him as Zeus and the connection stuck as a nickname.

Zeus and Jesus are both one and the same Belus Enlil! Zeus is who the Greeks called Belus Enlil at that time when He was the Father of Gods and men. After the deluge, Belus Enlil and His father Anu pledged their allegiance to the Creator God of All.Belus Enlil incarnated into Jesus Christ to teach mankind the truth of a one superior God in existence and stop Satan's son from preaching that his father was the true and only God and savior.

Heres a good one to look up, Hercules going in search of Hera's magical apple tree guarded by a serpent with 100 heads. Magical apple guarded by a snake- familiar More fun Greek stuff - Pandora opens box/Eve picks apple Both are the cause of all evil... Dionysus turned water into wine. Athena was the first "virgin mother" Zeus/God in Heaven - Hades/Satan in Underworld/Hell Hell was designed off of descriptions of Tartarus (Underworld) A great flood, an ark was built yadda yadda= The bible has a lot of stories based off of Greek myths, and I agree with you a story about the son of God doing great things for mankind - is based of the stories of Hercules.

Zeus and the rest of his pantheon *are* still believed in and worshiped today. :) How can you all be on the internet and not run across a Pagan or two? Seriously! LOL

As for those who say only their god is "real," well you don't have proof of your god any more than I do for mine. :) There's no proof of the existence of any deity, followers of other gods have the same kinds of spiritual experiences you claim as "proof," and we get just as much fulfillment from our religions as you do yours.

If some would dare to study they would see that the Greek gods were for the most part indifferent and on average angry. The Greek gods were worshiped out of fear of their indifferent, but vengeful if you don't worship them, gods. The God of the Bible on the other hand, was worshiped out of gratitude for accomplishing many things, and instead of the methods the Greek gods answer to scorn or rebellion (i e insta-smite) the God of the Bible would hold out and give chances for repentance more so then other things that people worshiped as gods.

In the end, the Historical and Biblical Jesus wins out do to the fact that He is real.

Zeus has a bunch of buddy gods. They were much more powerful and more fun than the boring christian god, I agree. Why would people pick such a boring god?

Definitely Zeus. I actually think it would be kind of awesome if Greek mythology was true. I don't like all this perfect being crap, that is so boring!

Zeus would eat babby Jesus, rip adult Jesus off the cross and kick him around,

and then zap him for being a criminal. Zeus is obviously the superior God. Gaea

would hold Jesus down so Zeus could FINISH HIM! If Jesus wants to take it into

the heavens, Zeus would bash his head against the Pantheon for treading on holy

Greek grounds.

I don't really want to be the one to tell you Zeus died. He swallowed a pregnant woman and gave birth to the child out of his head and it exploded. Zeus died. Sorry. Zeus is listed with the other dead Gods.

Jesus isn't a God, he is the son of God, there is a big difference. But Jesus would still beat zeus anyday.

Most glorious of the immortals, invoked by many names, ever all-powerful,

Zeus, the First Cause of Nature, who rules all things with Law,

Hail! It is right for mortals to call upon you,

since from you we have our being, we whose lot it is to be God's image,

we alone of all mortal creatures that live and move upon the earth.

Accordingly, I will praise you with my hymn and ever sing of your might.

The whole universe, spinning around the earth,

goes wherever you lead it and is willingly guided by you.

So great is the servant which you hold in your invincible hands,

your eternal, two-edged, lightning-forked thunderbolt.

By its strokes all the works of nature came to be established,

and with it you guide the universal Word of Reason which moves through all creation,

mingling with the great sun and the small stars.

O God, without you nothing comes to be on earth,

neither in the region of the heavenly poles, nor in the sea,

except what evil men do in their folly.

zeus was a rounder who picked fights, killed people and seduced virgins and then left them to rear his bastard sons. he cheated on his wife and threw lightning at people he didn't like

Jesus sacrificed himself so that mankind could be saved from the clutches of evil. he forgave sinners who were repentant and healed a lot of people.

Jesus is the better, more generous and kindly God hands down.

Zeus.

Because without Zeus, we never would have had Hercules.

And without Hercules, we never would have had XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS.

Need I say more?

If you read your question, you would know the answer to your question.

Zeus is "Greek Mythology". The Word "Mythology" means, "the study of Myths".

Jesus on the other hand is not a myth. He was real. He actually lived here on earth and performed miracles. He is the one true living God.

Zeus, being a myth, never shot lightning bolts out of his hand either. However, Jesus actually created them.

Believe what you want. But as for me, i'm not going to put my faith in a myth when I have the real thing to trust in.

Well, in my experience only one of the two is real.

...and the other one is Jesus.

Edit: By the way, any Christians who now come in and say the opposite are just trying to be as cool as me.

I don't think Zeus was associated with any moral message.
