Jesus was as much human as you and me; so he cried like Lord Rama cried when he found his wife Sita kidnapped by Devil Ravana.

Jesus and Lazarus and his two sisters, Mary and Martha were good friends. He often stayed with them. He was just some overcome when the sisters told Him that if He had been there Lazarus would not have died. He loved them and Lazarus and hurt because they were hurting.

I agree with Muhammad, Jesus, wept because he knew that he was going to raise Lazarus from the dead. But it broke Jesus heart to feel the misery and the hopelessness of the people around him. He also knew that they could not grasp that he (Jesus) was God the Son.
He also knew that even when he brings Lazarus back from the dead that Satan would have such a hold on some of these people that even this impossible feat would soon fade from their memory.

I think that is one of the most profound parts of the entire New Testament. There's so much contained in that one verse (John 11:35): Jesus wept.
Anyway, my theory is that it shows how human Jesus was. He was compassionate and empathetic, and I think it hurt Him to see a family He was so close to in pain. He knew He would be able to raise Lazarus from the dead...but it still hurt Him to see Lazarus' family in pain.

We aren't told so can only specualte.
Maybe it was because of all the hurt that loved ones go through when somebody close dies. Jesus feels our pain.
Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Or maybe it was because the Pharasees took that final acts of hardening their heart against him and began to plot his death when they heard he had raised Lazarus from the dead. In that case Jesus was weeping over them and over what was ultimately to come (the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD.)
John 11:53 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.

He cried for the people and their spiritual state...for they would reject and destroy their Creator. Here He was showing himself to be the Author of life...and His love for the human soul. And shortly they would put Him to death and as well there is reference to the Jewish leadership in putting to death Lazarus as well...as he was a sign of the power of Christ.

Christ did not cry because lazarus died, He cried because of the pitiable state of the people. That they had to face death because of sin.

I need to confirm this, but for now I think that Jesus also have human emotion when he was with us, so he cried for the death of lazarus. would you cry for the death of your closest friend?

Because he loved Lazarus and his family and he knew the sorrow that they felt.

Because Lazarus was Jesus's lover. Jesus was Gay and we have proof that Lazarus was actually his boyfriend.

Why did Horus raise Elazurus from death 3000 or so years prior?
He didn't cry.
