I'm in Texas. About 2 months ago I began my quest toward bettering my relationship with God and my Atman. I have read just about everything I could get my hands on...(right now The Autobiography of a Yogi) and I feel like I want begin full conversion (name change and all) but I'm looking for a place where I can converse with a priest or Guru..or any Hindu in confirm...any suggestions?

Unfortunately, there will be rare opportunities when you meet someone like a real guru. Your best bait is to continue your self studies and read authentic books like Gita, books by Ramkrishna Paramhamsa, Vivekananda etc.

You can also try searching Ramkrishna Mission or Vedanta Society and go to their speeches. www.vedantadfw.org, www.houstonvedanta.org

Hinduism does not believe in conversion so you need not do it, it won't help with your spiritual journey. Please be happy with your name given by your parents. You need to thank your parents too in this journey.

You can email if you need more info. If God wishes I might have the answer, even though I know nothing. Hope this helps.

You can visit some good websites and blogs on Hinduism to improve your knowledge. You can also register yourself for online courses on Hindu spirituality to learn from an expert. This will help you connect with a teacher.
