Question:
May I ask the questions forbidden by Christian Jew and Muslim ?
2010-06-24 17:31:53 UTC
What is beyond god --- the god -- YOUR god --

We all come from somewhere except "HIM" --- Well where did he come from -- why can't I put the "HIM" into grander perspective --- other than it is not allowed by monotheists that well

There is a top that hold no relationship except to those things below and they outlaw by culture and denial of alternative --- my simple thought that --"this too can be put into perspective" by observation and the conjuring into reality those things imagined

A ripple through the pond leave its displacement as evidence in all directions --- those movements of water projected forward and back --- the solar system is significantly large the quantum world small enough to just barely conceive of Yet one group of monotheists may say to me that I may not place their god in perspective of greater -- or dare ask or imagine it ?

May I ask the questions forbidden by Christian Jew and Muslim ?

Will you even admit it is forbidden ?

If a being as complex as God didn't need a creator-why do we?

It used to be told that the world rested upon an elephant. The wise men were telling this to the people, and they believed it for a time.

One day someone came up and asked, "What does the elephant rest upon?"

"A turtle" they confidently responded.

For a time all was content and the people were satisfied with this answer.

But again, another person asked "What does the turtle rest upon?"

The wise men where shocked and could only reply, "Something, we know not what."

People want consolation, not truth. They have no reason to look for the truth because they are so terrified of what that truth might do to what they want to believe in.

We want someone to tell us what the truth is, we don't really desire to find it for ourselves. That is why gurus, philosophers, holy men and politicians are so popular-they give us an answer and ask that we don't question it.

Humans have shown a remarkable resilience to facts that are painful and nonconforming with preconceived notions.

It is not that our various beliefs haven't been proven false, it is that we don't accept the possibility of equal validity among our detractors.

No it's not forbidden, but the question doesn't often get mulled around in our heads because we've settled on an answer, which is "In the beginning God..."

I guess you could keep infinitely looping, saying that there's always something more transcendent, but then, everyone's entitled to their own opinion.... not every opinion is true ;)

In the end, you're gonna disagree with me and I'm gonna disagree with you, because it's clear that we have completely different paradigms right now. But I would venture to say that you need to explore more of the Christian faith if you think that God "forbids" us to think or question or doubt.

Why do you consider this a forbidden question? Surely it is one most people ask and yet we find we have no answer for it.

In addition to your question there is the fact that the Bible says God is Spirit and that He is everywhere. There is no place that His presence is not. I think this is huge, yet I can not explain it nor do I claim to understand, yet I believe in Him and that He has the power to destroy or redeem me. I am told;

Romans 10:17

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

I know this verse drives many to distraction, because to them it does not explain anything, but to me it is key to what I believe. The more I read the Bible the more I am convinced that it is His Truth.

John 4:24

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Psalm 139

7-Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8-If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

When He calls me up to be with Him in heaven I am sure I shall understand much more than I do now. However having said that I am equally sure that there will be an eternity of learning, because God's knowledge is without end and I can never equal it. Additionally reaching a point in this life, or the next, when I can no longer learn and be more of what He would have me become would indeed be dull.

James 4:2

Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

Ask, but ask the correct One! He alone has your answers.

Proverbs 3

5-Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6-In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

And:

Isaiah 1:18

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Reason together implies discussion. Asking the hard questions brings on a discussion.

I don't think it's really forbidden... maybe there isn't so much as god, but maybe the idea of god and a predetermined future that we make ourselves. There's only probability in all life. For example: If i walked out of my house right now, there's at least a one in a million chance that i'll get (A.) struck by lightning, (B.) hit by a car, (C.) find my future wife, (D.) all of the above... (lols) I am a Christian but I think God is just what we make of him. He's not so much of an entity, but more as a probability that we assume is an entity. All of the forces in space and time formed the universe from one particle smaller than a grain of sand, but that doesn't mean that just because we exist that something more than us has to be there.

I don't understand: What exactly is the question, and who says that it's forbidden?

Perhaps you could ask again after you sober up or sleep it off.

Your question is worded very poetically. I personally think that no one can answer where God came from because we aren't even sure if God is real. Belief in faith is the only justification and that belief does not cross religious lines, thus the controversy of this question.
